Replaced my Charge HR with this one!
I have been using fibits for 2+ years now. I wear it religiously and track my steps everyday. Fitbits in general are easy to use and the setup is very easy. I love the phone app because of ease of use, and I love to do challenges with friends who also own fitbits. That way I can keep myself motivated, especially through the winter months. I credit the Fitbit with keeping me fit through the winter, when it is so hard to make it to the gym. On days I find my steps lagging, I am motivated to drag myself to the gym or a walk to make the step count halfway decent. One summer I paired it with a really strict diet and I was able to shed my stubborn 15 lbs to get to my target weight. Then I gradually put back on 4 lbs during the winter, but I think it really helps. Diet is also key of course. Now coming to the specifics of this fitbit - the Alta. Pros: - Sleeker than the Charge HR 2 and can dress up as a bracelet. Plenty of fancy jewelry options are available. But not as sleek as the fitbit Flex. - Step count is the same as the other fitbits - its not exact, but overall I find it good for my use. I don't see a big difference with the other fitbits either. - Does have a heart rate monitor , similar to the Charge HR 2 - Well made and should last a while like my older fitbits. Fitbit also has great customer support. - Has sleep tracking built in - though I don't use this feature much. - Clear display for showing up text messages, phone caller ID, steps , Heart Rate etc. Have to tap it to view. Smaller display than the Charge HR, but its the price you pay for a sleeker fitbit. Cons: - Not waterproof - but seems to be splash resistant. Its good enough for me - but not for swimmers. For that use the flex (see my review of the Flex also) - No built in GPS - if you are a runner you will need to go to the Charge HR 2 for this feature. Its the same price point and my initial thought was to go with the Charge since it has the GPS and same price. This is the biggest difference between the two. Thats why the Charge HR is bigger than this one. So you need to determine what is more important for you - GPS or the sleeker design. I will also be writing a review for the Fitbit Flex . Be sure to see that too, if you'd like to compare the fitbits. I have a picture that shows the Alta (black with display), Flex (Black , no display) and Charge HR (Gen1) in purple. You can see the comparable size difference. Overall you cannot go wrong with a fitbit for fitness tracking!

Not Really Worth It!
I got the size small FitBit Ulta HR. One thing I noticed when opening the box is there are no directions in paper form. You have to download the app first. Since I had a problem getting the app to sync to my Fitbit I was frustrated because I didn't know what to do. I finally learned that you have to charge the Fitbit for a while and then it will sync. It hooks to a charging clip that is easy to use. Make sure there are no other FitBits nearby or it won't sync. After we got the app downloaded and the sync in place it was a breeze to set up. You can customize your Fitbit by choosing what it will display on the screen. You can have it show the time and heart rate or just the time. The display is fairly easy to read even at the age of 50. You can set goals on calories, exercise, water consumed, etc. There is an alarm that vibrates so that's nice if you don't like noisy alarms. On your profile there is an "About Me" section that you can make visible to just friends or to the public. You can join groups in the community area. I think if you are really into fitness this would be a useful tool as you can sync with MyFitnessPal and others. You can challenge yourself to move more each day. I love the fact that you can switch bands with different colors. For women that is a huge plus. That is about all the pros to this for me. The cons are the way it's supposed to turn on. To make it turn on you turn your wrist from horizontal to vertical toward your chest but it only works unless you really flip your wrist up far enough and it is an awkward position. A double tap will also turn it on but it shuts off in 2 seconds. I think it is a neat fitness gadget but for someone who doesn't have the time or patience I would pass. For instance, you have to get on the app and actually input your own workout times. It only keeps track of your footsteps with normal walking and it is not accurate. Over a whole day it might say you took 50 steps. You have to manually input your water intake, etc. And, if you won't use the community part it really isn't necessary. Overall if you want to keep track of your walking only or your heart rate it's good. I probably won't use it every day. I think for me it is good if I want to challenge myself over a particular day to move more and keep track of my steps. Or because I had a heart attack I will use it while exercising to keep track of my heart rate. I got this for me. I am 5 foot 4 inches. I weight 185 pounds and wear a size 14 jeans. My wrists are medium sized for a woman and on the size small I had about 3 extra holes.

Love it goning to keep using it-
First off, replace the band if you have silicone allergies or sensitive skin. There are leather and fabric options out there. To set some context for my review, I've never worn a fitness device outside of carrying my iPhone before trying this device. I'm also reasonably technical, and evaluate products based on my ability to pick them up and figure it out without reading instructions. Initially, I was concerned, after unboxing I had to consult directions to figure out step 1. After determining that step one was downloading the Fitbit iPhone app… I never looked back. The rest of the setup process was 100% guided by the app, and I was able to connect to the website, and connect a MyFitnessPal app to my Fitbit account as well. What I liked: The device is slim, and fits comfortably on my wrist. (Although, it seemed a bit big for my petite wife). I've not worn anything on my wrist for 20 years, and barring some minor challenges with my long sleeve tight cuffs, have been comfortable, and unobtrusive. The information I'm collecting I find fascinating to track. I love the sleep analysis information, and obviously the activity and heart rate information/baseline is great to keep track of. You can connect to phone and alert you when receiving a text on your phone. I've found this actually helps avoid missing texts when my phone was not in its usual place. (This works only if the phone is in reasonable proximity). What you want to be aware of: The display, although limited has basic functionality and when you raise your arm comes on with the time and heart rate. I've had some challenges tapping to get the display to respond to scroll through information it can show. This may be something I'm doing wrong, and I find I rarely ever attempt to look at the screen (never worn a watch), so for me this is not a big deal. When working out, Fitbit recommends a wearing in a slightly different position on your arm… it made a difference in accuracy when I followed their guide. I was disappointed it did not track floors climbed (although my phone does). Overall, the information I track daily has started to get me more conscious of my activity, sleep, and heart behavior and trying to exercise more. Keeping this one to see how long I can keep it going.

    Love my Alta HR
I have a Fitbit Alta and it has been a bit confusing for me to figure out, but I received my new Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband and I just love it. It was really quite easy to set up and get all my information into it and read it back. My husband had a heart problem, so I really wanted a new Fitbit that would give me my heart rate. The Fitbit Alta HR does just that, so I'm able to keep track of my heart. I'm now very conscious of my heart activity more that ever now. The Alta HR fits real nice on my wrist. My first Alta was a small/large wristband combined and my new Alta HR is a small. It fits real nice on my small wrist. Its very attractive. I bought a lot of different color wrist bands for my Alta and they are all interchangeable with my new Fitbit Alta HR. My Alta HR came with the standard black wristband. I highly recommend the Fitbit Alta HR, especially if you are concerned about what your heart is doing. You can set your Alta HR to be worn on either wrist. You get the date and the time and how many steps you have taken during the day and any exercise you have set it for. Also it will keep track of any weight you lose. If any of the above are what you are interested in, then this Fitbit Alta HR is the one for you. It sure is for me.

    this makes my heart beat
I have previously had a fit bit flex which I liked very much, but all the extras that this fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate has so out does the flex, of course you have some of the same features as exercise steps, sleep time, calories burned, food and water intake if you wanted to add. The Alta HR has the time along with heart rate. I no longer have to wear my watch, so that leaves and arm open for other jewelry that I was unable to wear, so that is a great big plus to me. The heart rate feature has different zones.this shows you if your rate is up enough to be burning fat or cardio rate and a peak rate zone. You can choose a goal of how many steps you want to get a day and there is a bar on the step amount and it will show you how close you are. You get a little buzz reminder 10 minutes before the hour if you have not gotten in your 250 steps for that hour. You can have a reminder when it is time for bed. And to get up, up to 8 reminders a day. This is really the exciting part, you get calendar notifications, text and calls when on blue tooth is on to your phone. This come with the Fit bit and charger. And you can buy extra colors of bands to go with whatever you are wearing. So as you can see I highly recommend this product.

    Fitbit Alta HR
I have been toying with the idea of purchasing one of these fitbits for a very long time but was skeptical because I had so many friends give me mixed reviews on them. So, needless to say I was happy to be able to get the fitbit and find out for myself whether this would be something I would like or not. I actually fell in love with this fit bit after the first day I wore it. It tracks everything steps calories burned miles and especially that my resting heart rate which as I'm getting a little older I like to keep track of. This fitbit also tracks my sleep which i found very useful and interesting. You have to download the app and charge the device first. The app is very easy to use and the fitbit keeps a charge for a week! Overall i am very pleased with the fitbit and i wear it every day. I love knowing my overall cardio health and having options to increase my health with step reminders and workouts. I love it.

    This makes exercise fun!
I am reviewing the Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband Small size. This fitness band counts steps and measures heart rate. The band can vibrate when you receive phone calls, displaying the caller and the texts onscreen. Sleep tracking is provided using the heart rate monitor and movement detection. My favorite feature so far is competing against friends and family on the fitbit app. The adventure races are so much fun as you compete with your selected friends and family through a real route with your friend's profile avatars moving along the plotted map and viewing photos of points of interest along the way. The community and competition keep me moving and motivated! I like the fact that I can get six days of use before getting a low battery. The sleep tracking function is really interesting and works fairly well for me, but I do find it uncomfortable to wear at night. The Alta is slim and attractive especially for people with small wrists like me. I have a small wrist that measures 5.5" in diameter and the size small band fits well. This is a good basic activity tracker and the sleep tracking and call/text alerts are great additions to the device. I would recommend the Fitbit Alta HR!

    Fitbit Alta HR Review
The Fitbit Alta HR is a solid activity tracker. It's not blinged out or flashy. With the heart rate tracking its a nice a nice thing to have while doing cardio training. The Fitbit has features that track your steps, the distance you have walked, how many calories you have burned, active minutes and sleep. I noticed that the Fitbit will tell you if you have been sitting or relaxing in your chair because it will alert you to get up and go go go. It has a slim comfortable design but I don't like the rubber Fitbit band. The display is hard to read outside in the sunlight and it is not the most dynamic sports tracker but works well for a senior citizen to keep track of their heartbeats. I have been wearing the Alta HR for about six days and will continue after this review as I thing it is a good way to keep track of my activity. It is comfortable to wear and the seven day battery life is a big plus. I now have a watch with other functions besides telling time. My hands are always in water and every time I do anything involving water I have to remove my Alta to keep it dry so not being waterproof is a big disappointment and inconvenience. I do like the fact that messages cause the Fitbit Alta to vibrate and tell me who is messaging me. I chose the alta hr for myself because my granddaughter wanted one also so I wanted to see which one was best for me and for her before I bought her one.

    Get's you moving!
I received my Fitbit Alta HR and immediately set it up. I have been using the Fitbit Flex and this was a definite step up. It was very easy to install if you just install the Fitbit app. It pretty much just walks you through the setup. I really like that this Fitbit gives you your heart rate. I also like that it has a reminder for you if you sit too long it will tell you "Let's take a stroll" or another reminder. I have to pay attention when I charge it as it was a little tricky lining up the charger with the holes on the back of the unit. Just make sure you see the battery charging on the face of the unit. If you tap it once it tells you the time and the date so it is a watch also and an alarm clock. If you tap it again you will next see the number of steps, third is your heart rate, then distance, calories burned and finally minutes active. This tracker also tracks your sleep. The best part is this tracker doesn't have to have a dongle to sync it as it is wireless. Another one of my favorite things is on your dashboard (that's what they call the site you go to for accumulation of steps, resting hear rate, etc) , you can engage in competitions with other users. This really gets me going as I like a friendly competition. Overall, I would highly recommend the Fitbit Alta HR to help you keep fit.

Great Product and Would Make a Great Gift!
I received my Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband - Small, free, as a Walmart Spark Reviewer. This Fitbit would make a great gift for the Holidays for young or older. It is extremely easy to use. When I received mine there was no battery life so I plugged in to my iPhone plug. As soon as I did, I read www.fitbit.com (on the Fitbit screen), so I waited roughly five minutes and decided I would log into the website to see what I could figure out. I was actually sitting in my living room and checked out the Fitbit website while on my iPad. It was so easy. It asked if I wanted to download the app, I said yes, the app downloaded-I went to it and it said let's get started, so I was answering questions it asked, then at some point the screen flashed “searching.” I couldn't figure out what it was searching for (my Fitbit was charging in my kitchen) so I thought okay, I went in the kitchen took my Fitbit into the living room with me and the app found it and completed its download. The Fitbit measures your heart rate, really has a very long battery life. I haven't recharged since I have had this and first completely charged. This measures your exercise and automatically tracks your sleep as well. You can also sinc wirelessly and use your Fitbit to receive call and text notifications. Your Fitbit also shows the time and date on it. The cord has a clip that attaches to the three little dots on the back of the monitor and the other side plugs into your iPhone or Android plug to charge and takes roughly five to ten minutes to charge completely. Great product for any age group. The wristband is even interchangeable, if you decide you like another wristband better, you can take the wristband this Fitbit comes with and change with one of your choice.
