Attractive Farmhouse Gate
We own a 1950's farmhouse that doesn't have the best airflow and I like to keep the doors open, but now I need to keep my youngest little one out of certain rooms. I've owned this gate style before with my first two babies and was happy with it, mostly because I loath the idea of screwing hardware into my door frames for a temporary gate solution. I was super happy to see that Evenflo has added a more attractive gate to their line of baby gates and I purchased without a question. I love it and although the unfinished looking yellow one is $10 at Walmart, I was happy to pay the extra $5 shipping for the farmhouse one. My one complaint would be that they have replaced all the metal pieces that lasted me years in the past with plastic on their new design. Not a fan of plastic, but it is what it is.

Terrible to initially open!
Just purchased today, 3/14/2022. NOT easy to open initially! I have been using you tube videos and I can not get the gate to unlock. One video suggested a flat head screwdriver, nope! Go with another less expensive brand/style. Look at the you tube reviews, many others can not open this gate.

    Poorly designed, weak materials.
It doesn't have a metal locking snap like every other gate of this basic type, it has a plastic slide that about broke the first time I tried to use it. The wood feels especially flimsy too, comparing it with the standard gate of this type. Maybe kids couldn't unlock it as easily, but they could probably break it open in a couple minutes.

    New Design - Awful
I'm wondering if I'm the only one who really dislikes this newly designed baby gate. When something works & works well leave it alone!!!!!! I hate the new mechanisms. They don't slide easily and just frustrating to use. The old style was so easy & simple to us. IMO this new design is junk. Won't be buying them again.

    Hard to open/ close
I would most likely give this 3.5 stars. Although it works and isn't as ugly as the original ones, it is not easy to lock and unlock; and, if you don't fight the plastic piece, it will not lock into place. instead of the metal clamp-type closure, it is a plastic piece that you have to pull/ push really hard to get fastened in place, and don't expect to take it off and move it without some effort.

    It Served My Purpose.
This gate is very weak, however it served my purpose. I only needed to keep a puppy contained from getting into another room. It worked perfect for me. It's quite short, comes just above the knees. I'm only 5 feet tall. I was pleased because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a gate for a short amount of time I would be using it.

    Gate Latch Difficult to Use
I bought this to help keep my puppy out of certain areas. This gate is attractive but rather poorly constructed compared to 2 other gates that I have. The gate latch is a plastic piece that is rather difficult to operate. I don't think it would last very long if you have to latch and unlatch it often, which I have to do to access the rooms that are off-limits to my puppy right now. My older gates are much sturdier and have a U-shaped clamp that latches the gate securely in place. I was very disappointed, but, I guess, you get what you pay for. I should have examined this more closely before purchasing it, but was pressed for time.

Gate is extremely flimsy - the side plastic netting broke the second time I moved the gate to a tighter fit. If you need this to block an entrance, it would be fine as long as no pressure is applied to the gate - otherwise save your money and purchase a better gate.

    Believe the bad reviews!!
I ignored the reviews...big mistake. I have a lot of experience with baby gates and figured I could make a cheap one work part time....I only need it for when my niece is over at my niece is over at my house. I bought two, and after dealing with the first one, never even opened the second one. It is waiting to be returned. This gate truly is a flimsy piece of garbage. It was not adjust properly to fit the wall and then will not lock into place. Save your sanity and spend a little more on ANY other gate.

    Didn't work for us
This baby gate did not work for us. i could never get it to stay up. I would recommend spending a little more money on a baby gate that will actually work.

broke easily, difficult to latch and unlatch
The gate was beautiful when I received it, but the function of locking and unlocking was a pain. It could definitely use a second lock to ensure the wood could not crack easily under the pressure. It did indeed crack on me. If you don't plan on removing this each day or every few days it should be OK. But the latch becomes more difficult to use with each use.

Cheaply thrown together evenflo baby gate
Clearly says 4pk on the evenflo position lock and gate farmhouse baby gate. I thought PK meant pack. Only got one delivered, also very cheaply thrown together with small staples that give 0 support to the frame.

    Does the job
I used to have a baby gate like this one but it was a lot sturdier and didn't have any plastic components while this one does which makes me feel it might break if I'm not careful when extending and locking it. However it does get the job done and looks really nice. So I would purchase another one especially since it's not very expensive.

    STAINED MY DOORWAY
The gate works fine, but when I took it down after a couple months, the black bumpers had left very noticeable black circles that penetrated my wood door frame. It wont come off and it seems like the only thing Ill be able to do is have it sanded down and refinished. NOT HAPPY!

Looks nice.......terrible product. Bought this to keep our Husky out of a room. How could they market this as a baby gate?......Law suit in waiting. It's just leaning against the door jam.......Brutal.

An old standard with a change
This gate has been a staple in our family over the years. It has helped with many pets and three children. I always loved the ease of use and versatility. I just bought two 32" gates after years of being gate-less. I was disappointed to see that Evenflow had changed the locking mechanism from the metal- easy to use- to a plastic model that is difficult to use and lesser quality. I assume it is cheaper for Evenflow but also makes the gate much less desirable. The picture on the website shows the former metal latch not what it actually has.

    Baby Gate
I like this dark color. And this gate is good if you want to take it down when you don't need. You don't have to use screw to set up, easy to install and no hole or marks on the wall. But it's hard to get it into the right pressure and the locking bar is not secure. If they would make it locking bar more stable, I would recommend to my friends.
