Total piece of garbage
Every $40 printer I have ever owned worked circles around this absolute piece of junk. I spent about $400 on the printer, used the temporary cartridges that came with it then bought a box of replacement cartridges when those showed they were almost empty (in what I thought was a remarkably short period of time). I don't print much at all, so I was surprised when after just a very short while it refused to print anything more because it said I was low on ink...AGAIN. After several months of not having use of it, I went and bought ANOTHER 802XL replacement ink kit (they cost $125 each) so I could print a few things. It refuses to print anything at all in black and the ink levels shown in the photos were photographed immediately after replacement and two of them already show half empty, so I have now paid over $700 for a printer and ink which has made less than 500 copies in its lifetime. I will buy ANYTHING BUT EPSON in the future. Total ripoff!!!!

    simple
Loved the printer at first. Simple, but does what I need. Then very soon, papers sometimes don't feed at the top when trying to scan the paper. It's next to impossible to do some of the set up things that are normally very straight forward with printers. And now, my paper is feeding out multiple sheets when printing...sometimes up to 8 or more sheets per page. I understand the paper might be part of the problem if it needs to be fanned, etc., but the printer is telling me I'm out of paper in tray 1...I'm trying to print from tray 1, but it's pulling from tray 2....and there is paper in tray 2. This printer is taking a simple 5-page, 20 second print job, and turning it into a 15 minute problem. I still can't figure out why it's pulling from tray 2... Love the simplicity and functionality of this printer!!! But, can't stand it messing up so much. And, the color cartridges went out WAY too quickly....I very rarely print anything in color, and then only a page or two. And yes, I am talking about the name brand, FULL cartridge replacements...not the ones that came with the copier - they seemed to last a decent amount of time, though not near as much as claimed.

Love it, love it, love it, and it's fast
I love that this has 2 paper draws and it prints, scans, copys and faxes. And I love how fast it prints. I don't have to sit and wait for it to wake up and then start printing. I use this printer at work. It would be a great printer for home to. I'm constantly having to print orders, Invoices, checks, etc and it does a really great job. I think it's faster than the last Workforce Printer I had. I'm thinking of getting this model for home.

Good printer, but does NOT do duplex copying.
The color, speed, noise, paper storage are excellent. Basic set-up for printing and copy functions was easy. Getting it to scan took time and playing with it. When updating and doing the basic set-up I thought I was also downloading the scan function--not so. Had to download several different things to get it scan. Also--the information said this was a duplex printer. IT IS NOT. Yes, it does print duplex (both sides of a page) from the computer, but it will NOT print duplex in a copy mode. That should be made clear in the information about the printer. Otherwise, the printer works well and was a good buy through Sam's. I would recommend it to a friend with reservations due to the lack of duplex copying.

    Exactly what I wanted
This was the easiest printer to set up. I like how fast it prints pages (color and b/w). I don't like that cardstock wasn't an option to print on when printing a photo, but it's not a deal breaker.

Prints are great, but scanning is not easy.
I recently purchased this printer after my other Epson stopped working, but because of the longevity of the print ink, I decided to go back with an Epson, but did find that the in cartridges aren't nearly as large as the other model I had. Setting up the scanner is a bit more difficult and no clear directions.

    Easy setup, loaded with features...
Many years ago I used to always get Epson dot matrix printers and I always loved them. I've had virtually every other brand of printer over the years since, and none have proven as reliable as Epson. This model is so loaded with features it's easily the most advanced printer I've ever used at home. Sam's has the best price I could find which never surprises me. If you need a printer, you can't miss with Epson and Sam's.

Great AIO Device Minus PDF Hangups
The first thing you'll certainly notice is how big this printer is. It can be lifted and moved by one person, but it's really bordering the line of being too awkward to carry. I'm 5' 10" and was fine with it, but my 5' 3" wife looked at it and shook her head no. I would recommend taking this directly to where you want to set it up and un-box it there. However, if you decide not to, Epson at least had the good foresight put the entire printer in a sturdy bag that has solid handles on it so you can just pull it directly out of the box and easily carry it to where it needs to go. The printer is packed extremely well and I was really pleased to see all the tape on the printer. I'm not being sarcastic, they did a phenomenal job making sure anything that could possibly move was taped down securely to prevent breakage. Set up was pretty straight forward. If you'd set up any similar printer this should be a cake walk. The four included ink cartridges went in smoothly and quickly. I liked how I had the ability to get the printer on my WiFi by way of the included LCD display or by the included CD software. Side note on this: I was really impressed that the software automatically reaches out to the internet and uses the most current version if a new one is available (it was for me). From un-boxing to first print it was about 20 minutes for me. I lost some time removing all the tape, updating the install app, then updating the firmware. I like that they are very cognizant of their software and firmware updates and allow me to complete them by the on-printer LCD or via my PC. For me, the issues I was running into involved the actual printing aspect. So I did a few tests between documents, PDFs, and pictures. So for starters I just copy and pasted a bunch of text into a notepad file and printed it. There were four total pages full of text and I can say this printer just fired them out with insane speed. It took longer for the initial start up sequence (which maybe took 7 seconds) than it did to print the four pages. I was shocked. Next I printed a document in PDF form. Unfortunately, it took longer to print one PDF than it did to print the entire four page notepad document before it. The difference was night and day, I wasn't impressed in that regard. From here I printed another PDF document that was half text half picture...that also took far longer than expected. Additionally, the image had a distinct line in it about every inch (see attached image) that was not in the original PDF. Surprisingly, switching back to printing out a regular jpeg yielded very fast printing again. I'm not sure what the deal is, but there seems to be a serious hangup when printing PDFs. Beyond the printing, the feature set of this printer is awesome. I was able to make it scan directly to my PC (you can set up any particular PC you want and can choose from the list you've created with ease), and I was able to get it to scan directly to my DropBox, Google Drive, and One Drive with no problem at all. Configuration was simple and straight forward and the scanned images look great. You can also scan directly to PDF format if you'd like. Additionally, copying yielded great results as well. It looked like there was little to no image degradation from the original source. Very pleased! The features go beyond what I've noted above (and obviously I haven't even talked about faxing since I rarely use it these days) and over all this is a really solid unit that I'm extremely excited to have in my house. Minus the hang ups with pdf printing, this device is going to be a staple in my home and will be relied upon heavily! I would undoubtedly recommend this device to anyone in the market for a device with these capabilities. Summary Pros: - Very versatile device that allows you to have some high-end functions without a ridiculous price. - Good looking and highly responsive LCD that allows for ink monitoring, setting changes, firmware updates. - Really fast printing for most formats. - Large feature set that seems to be above what most devices allow for in this price range. Cons: - Doesn't seem to print quickly or entirely accurate with PDFs and since this seems to be aimed at the home business crowd, that could be problematic. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
