A Garden Sensation!
MiracleGro is awesome and certainly stands up to its name especially with transplanting and growing my favorite plants. The "Moisture Control" potting mix has been a hit producing delicious container vegetables way better than store bought according to family and friends. I've enjoyed an abundance of Big Bertha Bell, Green Bell, and Banana peppers. Now even the Jalapeño and Tabasco plants are loaded with peppers. From my harvest I've preserved tomatoes, paste, sauce and salsa plus banana pepper rings that are absolutely delicious. The fresh herbs continue to grow well adding great flavor to my favorite recipes. Also, my flowers are vibrant and very colorful too! I don't hesitate to make the 40 mile-round trip to buy a few 2 cubic feet bags at a great price. I've probably purchased 10 or more bags this season and when my greenhouse is built I will be buying more! Thank you for a superb product!

Horrible results
I purchased 2 bags of Miracle grow moisture control potting soil on May 9, 2021. I buy this yearly for my plants on my porch, but this year, my plants hardly grew, seeming to not have any nutrients. I even used miracle grow fertilizer, mixing as the box suggested, and no changes. Finally, I added some 10-10-10 fertilizer to each pot and within days, a couple of days, the plants began to change, grow and blossom more. I am very disappointed with the results of the potting soil, and will add, when I opened the bags, they seemed to have a bunch of trash(sticks, bark etc). I asked my daughter, and she said her plants didn't flourish as usual, using Miracle grow products. What happened to the quality products we usually buy?

    Fungus Gnats Galore!
I started raising “Spider” plants about 2 years ago and would mix Miracle Grow with a less expensive potting soil. It wasn't long before I learned about “Fungus Gnats!” and believed the cause was from the other soil. I eventually eliminated the gnats, but it took months…They were everywhere even in my food if I didn't cover it. I finally replaced my soil with only Miracle Grow, but the nightmare started again about 3 months ago! I thought maybe a few gnats survived and began to lay eggs again, so I had to start the elimination process again! Today I brought in a small pot of Miracle Grow to plant a new “spiderette” and was going to place it in a bedroom, away from the many infested plants I have again! I was preparing the soil to plant the “baby,”when I noticed what appeared to be a “fungus gnat” egg! Surprise! All along the “gnat” problem was coming from the Miracle Grow! Not from the same bag, as I had to buy several to replace the soil in ALL of the infested plants! This has gone on for well over a year now and I think I will end up tossing the 20-25 infested plants I have now! The photo with the pie pan shows what I took out of the pot I was going to use today. (a very small pot) The sticky traps show what I had going on for many months!

    Nearly killed my lemon tree
I bought a large bag of the Potting Mix and used it to repot a small lemon tree. The tre was thriving with large thick leaves. It even started to produce flower buds throughout the plant. After I repotted using MG leaves started dropping. My pollinated flowers stopped growing a fell off. It was not over watered or lacked sunlight. Eventually the plant dropped all leaves and flowers. Stem tips started to dry out. Finally in desperation, I removed all of the MG soil, water spraying if from the roots and replacing it with true soil from my garden. The roots looked healthy. Hopefully I will be able to save the lemon tree. I'll never buy MG soils again.

    Made my plant happy.
My lovely plant Sheila was very thrilled when I repotted her with this. After a few days, her leaves perked up and she looked greener than ever! I will continue to purchase this mix for my plant.

Not what it use to be!
I have been using Moisture Control Miracle Grow Potting soil for years. My potted flowers have always been stunning. This year I am on my second round of plants in many containers, they are dying as well; I've only given one photo example. I could give you 20. Plants and soil are ridiculously expensive this year. After being a satisfied customer for years, I will look for another product. What did you do to your Moisture Control soil this year? Use inferior product? Someone had a great idea in product management to throw something else in? You've really mucked up a good product Miracle Grow. Very disappointed.

    Killing my,plants
I have used several bags for my pots and planters and this soil retains so much water it is killing my wave petunias. It hasn't rained in a week nor have I watered and it's soaking wet. Petunias turning yellow and dying, I repotted thinking it was root bound to no avail New soil did it again. Every rail planters I have is creating this mushy wet soil that does not dry out. Weather is 85+ and humid and will not dry. Even has a green tinge on top

    Beautiful rich feeling soil
I used Miracle Gro Performance Container soil this year. The feel of it in your hands is amazing! There are some clumps but they easily break apart. As expected there is also pieces of wood mulch in it as well. I did notice what I would call a slight smell like manure. Not over powering and why not, it's a natural fertilizer! Transplanted all my starters into their new homes using it as well. My squashes and broccoli doubled in size in four days! My early tomatoes are already producing! This particular blend is a little pricey, but so far this season, it seems to be well worth it! The store accidentally gave me a couple bags of the in ground blend on my last trip instead, but I'm going to use it when I plant my starter potatoes this weekend.

    Fertilizer burn and GNATS
I've been sending daily pics of my plant to the grower and they insist it's fertilizer burn even though I have not admitted to them I used Miracle Grow because I didn't want them to pass the buck blame it on that. Clearly they are right. I'm also irritated that MGro has not responded to emails asking for advice about its use. Side note...reading the Gnat comments sounded all too familiar. We can't sit out in the early evening because they are everywhere and yes, they swarm from the MGro bag. I believe in you get what you pay for and that's why I bought "the best". Ha! Generic store brand as soon as I return the massive MGro bags I have

Just depends on where and when you buy it.
I have found after years of using Miracle grow potting soil that you can't get in a hurry to buy it in April. Last year I did that and it smelled like mildew when I opened it (all 10 bags). I believe they had been stored outside over the winter. The plants didn't grow well at all. This year (buying from the same place ) I waited until the rush to buy was over, which I usually do, and the soil was very fresh. I have a question. The bag says to start feeding after 30 days of planting. I won't over feed will I? I've finally took the time to read the whole bag.

    Works for my small garden.
Ok this was the second time purchasing this Miracle-gro Moisture Control Potting Mix and I know it is supposed to be used in a planter or planter beds, but I use it in my in-ground garden. And for my garden this has been wonderful, my garden is very small and that's the reason I use it in my in-ground garden because it's just like a large planter. Anyways this Miracle-gro Moisture Control Potting Mix has made my garden look so beautiful. My flowers are much larger then when I use other brands of planting mix, and if I got a few days without watering my flowers they still stay moist because of the Miracle-gro Moisture Control Potting Mix retains water. I have used many products from Miracle-gro and this is one of my new favorites. I will continue to purchase this Potting Mix every six months and I will keep adding it to my plants in my little garden.

    Would NOT Recommend
I have used Miracle Grow products for years, and have always been satisfied with the product and results. Not so with this bag of potting mix! I transplanted my beloved indoor baby at work ( I've had this beauty for 14 years), and about a week later noticed gnats in my office. An associate of mine commented that the gnats were coming from my plant. I purchased need oil. That did not help. I tried home remedies. No success. Three weeks after using the potting soil, every plant in our small office is infected with gnats, my “beauty” looks like a “beast”, and we've had to remove every plant from the building. So sad and disappointed.

Fungus on top, gnats are bad
I have bought multiple bags of the moisture control potting mix and the citrus potting mix and am having trouble with both. Green fungus on top of soil and gnats in the dirt. I have been using miracle grow for years and the last couple of years there have been multiple issues. Dirt turning rock hard, green or white fungus or mold on top of soil and the gnats, at least 2 different types of gnats. I'm not sure what is going on with the potting mixes but I pay good money for this stuff and as I said earlier I've used it for years. At first I thought it was just a bad bag but after purchasing multiple bags and to have these problems with over half of the bags I'm getting frustrated. I've purchased at least 15 bags this year including the citrus mix (at least 4 bags) and 1 bag of orchid mix which right after I planted my orchids in the mix 1 got mealy bugs on it. My husband bought me a Meyer lemon tree and since I planted it in the citrus potting mix I've been fighting gnats that stay in the soil. I'm afraid that I'm going to loose my lemon and the lime tree that I've had for a year because of the gnats. The leaves are falling off of them now and it's my understanding that the gnat larvae will eat the roots and kill the tree. I've tried multiple different things to get rid of these gnats, including insecticidal soap, neem oil, a peroxide and water mix, to no avail. I'm going to repot these trees in different soil and see if I can save them, hopefully. Needless to say but I am truly disappointed with the different miracle grow potting mixes that I've wasted my money on this year.

    POOR QUALITY CONTROL
I bought 4 2 cubic foot bags of Miracle Gro potting mix, moisture control this year and my plants aren't doing well at all! They are growing very slowly and there is a fungus on the top of the soil. I am an avid gardener and know a lot about plants and soil. I have never had this problem before with this soil. We only have 4 months of growing season and this ruined my flowers for this year. My plants have plenty of sun and the soil gets a crust on the top and I have to constantly loosen it for aereation!! There is more bark mulch than normal for this product!!

Moisture control really does make a difference!
My Mom and I decided to test how well the MoistureControl potting mix works last year. We both purchased the same plants, at the same nursery, at the same time ...she planted hers in regular potting soil in hanging baskets, and I planted mine in MoistureControl in the same type of hanging basket. We watered ours at the same times, and we only live a half mile away from each other so weather conditions were the same also. Mine grew huge and had almost twice as many flowers as hers(with the MoistureControl mix). Hers did well, but weren't as lush and flowery as mine. Needless to say were were both shocked at the difference!
