Not Good
I need a rod that collapses to get to my fishing spot through heavy vegetation. This rod snapped in half on its first cast. The reel is a battle to use also. Ruined my day.

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/27/2022Not worth the money at all.The rod is ok but the reel is crap. Have tried using this thing twice and both times gave up in frustration. The line that comes with it is so thin and wound so tight on the reel that when it comes off the reel it just gets all tangled up. Line is so fine it's hard to thread it through eyelets.James

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/11/2021Good rod, subpar reel, but good value.I really like the small form factor of this combo and that I can leave it in my car or throw it in a bag just in case. The rod seems to be decent quality for the price but the reel is quite lacking and I will probably be replacing it soon.Isaac

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/06/2021The line that comes with the reel is worthlessI wanted a telescopic pole so I can take it on my bicycle to go fishing. The pole worked great. The fishing line that came with the reel had probably been on the reel for some time, Every time I cast the line would get all coiled up. Include the additional cost of new fishing line when you consider this pole, or any other fishing pole that comes with pre-spooled line.Shirl001

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser10/02/2020Not too badFor a cheap rod, not bad actually. I travel for work, and try to fish every place I go in the country, ponds and small lakes. This rod is super portable and casts decently for what its length, though you're certainly not going to set any records, haha. I have only caught dinks while traveling so far, so I can't attest to its ability to handle a bigger fish. The reel is pretty crappy. I ended up with a really bad birds nest in it, so I tossed it and upgraded it to a Daiwa Crossfire 1000 (affordable $30 spinning reel that's a really good quality in my opinion), and that fits it perfectly and balances the rod well for casting. I also rig it with braid so that I can get the optimal amount of line on the reel. For travel fishing, this rod gets the job done.Tanner

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/23/2020Fantastic Casual RodFantastic combo! Most telescopic rods are garbage, so I wasnt expecting much from Walmart, but this thing was surprising! I needed something I could stow in a backpack for multi-day through-hiking trips with fishing spots along the way, and this is perfect! It squashes down to about a foot in length and it comes with a reel with a reversible/fold down crank arm, so its no thicker than the width of the reel. SUPER light weight so it didnt cause any problems being added to my pack.; it would also be a good choice for a day pack. You do need to be aware of what youre doing with it... its a collapsible fiberglass(?) rod, so you cant be sword fighting your friends or whip-swatting bees with it, you also will not be landing any flat heads or record walleye... but if you're an adult about how hard you pull the segments out, how tight you crank down on the reel seat and what you fish with it, this thing will handle just about anything a casual fisherman can want to do. If youre going on a full-on FISHING TRIP, obviously you dont want this as your primary rod, but if youre fishing on the side, or see a back-up rod, this is a great option. I landed tons of bluegill and crappie, a few small bass, even a couple trout and a channel cat, all no problem. The reel it comes with is small, but pretty smooth. The cast-reverse feels flimsy, but again if youre an adult about how you use it, youll be ok. If youve got the money to swap the reel, it would upgrade the whole setup quite a bit, but its completely fishable right out of the box. I did change the line on mine because it comes spooled with a light gague mono and I prefer braided, but thats not a con, just personal preference. Biggest con: the mustard yellow color... Eagle Claw, why?! Of all the colors.... why...R

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/05/2014An exellent product for backpackingI ordered this for a backpacking trip and it worked out great . It's inexpensive and very compact to carry. I would recommend it for anyone that's interested in an inexpensive fishing pole light to carry and will work as well of not better than a more expensive rod and reel .Oldturtle
