Awesome Smoker
This smoker is awesome. Heats right up. Temperature dead on all the time. This smoker is way better than my Traeger. Definitely would recommend this smoker. I've read the poor reviews and I just don't understand. Nothing they've said about temperature has ever happens with mine. I had to put two bricks in the bottom of my Traeger to get the temperature not to bounce around.

this grill is not worth a darn. time and time and time again the grill never hits the desired temperature of 350 degrees after 90 minutes of running. actually it doesn't matter what temperature you select past 200 degrees if you just leave it to function as expected it will 9 out 10 never hit the temperature you set it to. The pellet box is oddly flat in nature and at half full the pellets will develop a hole and stop feeding the auger. the app is marginally useful. other than telling you the grill has not reached temperature it never alerts when the auger is empty. the vendor has replaced the control board (you do the work) but the behavior is the exact same. i got the well, you have to keep the pellet box full all the time and i must be doing something for the grill to never hit the required temperature. so while the support is nice, in the end it is operator error.

Easy to cook with, excellent app and wifi connection make monitoring the food simple. i have to dig deeper abs learn more specifics but I'm not getting as much smoke as my other pitboss grill. im sure its a kearning curve and getting the sweetspot. i cooked ribs, steak, chicken, mac %26 cheese as my 1st cook. my family really liked it. so i have no complaints at all so far.

    100% YES!
Absolutly love it! Im a single mama, have multiple medical problems and cancer. It was hard for me to grill things on a charcoal grill because of the whole getting the charcoal to light, stay lit, control the temp, much less the cleanup. I get tired super easy. Hate a gas gril. But this baby, is as easy as turning on your oven! So stupid easy and I wish I'd gotten it years ago!

    Great grill, HORRIBLE smoker!!
We purchase this smoker because we wanted more cooking area than my old pellet grill. It's very well built and has a ton of room. If you just using this for a grill, you're probably fine. If you are interested in 'smoking' stuff....don't even bother. The temperature range inside this grill are ridiculously inconsistence. I battle this for a few smoking sessions before I used a temperature probe to see how bad it was. When 'smoking' a rack of ribs at 225 on the TOP rack...the actual temperature inside the grill was OVER 500 degrees when set at 225 The ribs reached 200 degrees in 1 hour 15 minutes. My old pellet smoker I would do a 3-2-1 with them at 225 for about 6 hours. These pictures are 45 minutes into what would normally be a 6 hour smoke. The ribs are at 193 and 188 after under an hour. Had I used the bottom rack they would have been destroyed.

I have really enjoyed my purchase so far. The grill is well made and great for something at this price point. If you want to add more smoke flavor to your food suggest using a smoke tube which can be purchased Separately. I personally enjoy the Pitt boss hickory pellets and competition blend pellets. Have not tried any other brand pellets in it so far heard it does not do well with cheap pellets. Alway empty hopper after each use unless it’s next day, and keep pellets in sealed dry area. Happy cooking!!

I would buy grill again, just not a pit boss cover
Have had this grill for a year now and still love it. At first it did take a couple cooks for it to start getting hotter quicker, the control board needs to learn. Had one small problem but pit boss sent out the part to repair it without any hassles. No rust on mine yet that is stored outside Year round under a pit boss cover in northern Illinois. Now the pit boss cover is not as good as it should be, mine has already torn in a corner after only 3 months.

Bought this today at Wally World, already assembled as it was the last one. Tried a can of biscuits first and they turned out perfect. Now have reverse sear New York Strips and asparagus wrapped in bacon going. So far, I like it as well as our Traeger 575. Many more features, bigger, cheaper and the same quality so far.... 5 of 5....

    Solid grill so far
Purchased it about 2 weeks ago. It took about 2 hours to assemble with the help of my wife. Did the burn in immediately. The following day I had to try it out with a few things. Did a 9 hour plus smoke of a pork butt. I did a rack of St. Louis cut ribs and a smoked queso. Then I grilled a hamburger and hotdog on it. Everything turned out well. The queso was amazing, great smoke ring on the ribs and the pork but was moist and extremely flavorful.

Great smoker and easy to use. Had an issue initially but their customer service responded quickly and took care of it. There is also a great Facebook group with many tips, tricks and recipes as well. Highly recommend!

Poor quality, rusted in a week !
Was excited to get this. Expected a quality grill. Worked well once. After a week, went to use it again and here is what I see. Rust everywhere. That's after it was under a Pitboss grill cover ! Safe from rain under the deck. One use and one week is all it lasted. Very disappointed !

Initial Review of Price, Durability, and Ease of
Hi everyone, if you're considering buying The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Platinum pellet grill, please read this in depth review. First thing you need to know is this model is exclusively sold by Walmart. And I must say my local Walmart sold out with 10 days. I was lucky to get the last one at my store. Each store is allocated a limited number of units, so when they're gone, they're gone. On to the review... I'm not going to make any comments on how well this unit cooks or the exceptional meals you can make on it. I'll leave that to my YouTube channel Chef Greycat's Kitchen. Here I'll tell you my thoughts on quality, price and ease of assembly. Price: Again, this particular Pit Boss model is only available at Walmart, and it was priced at $497.00 with FREE assembly. I chose not to have them assemble it because I wouldn't have been able to write this review. And also the fact I wouldn't have been able to get it into my SUV. At the price of $497.00 for all the features, the 1006 sq inches of cooking surface, and quality of design and overall heavy gauge parts. In my opinion This Pellet Grill is a Steal at this price! Rating: A Quality: All parts of this grill are made from heavy gauge steel. It shows in the assembled weight of 181 lbs. So make sure you have some help to load and unload the grill when you get home. When I unpacked all the parts there was no disappointment. Each piece felt sturdy and some weight to it. No floppy tin parts here. Rating: A I dropped one because I would like to see hardened steel screws in the future instead of regular soft steel screws. Assembly: This is where all people have different opinions on so many products, and their ease of assembly. I've put together about 50 grills and BBQ's for customers and friends, as well as myself. The key to an easy assembly of any product is how well the Instruction Manual is written. And here is where Pit Boss Nailed It. The instructions are clear and concise. But the thing here is you need to follow them closely! And if you have a friend to help you hold things, that's even better. Give them a beer or bribe them with the best Ribs they ever had. It took me about an hour and a half to complete my assembly, Doing it on my own. And I did not rush! Important Notes! Make sure you have a clear assembly area. Give yourself plenty of space on all sides to assemble. Also make sure to unpack all pieces, and have them laid out so you're not doing a mole hunt piece by piece. Last but not least, DO NOT LEAVE the PIECES in the SUN! Darn they get hot! So keep you parts shaded, or wear gloves... I found the rear leg assembly a pain in the behind. I would have engineered the rear legs to be attached from the outside using the screws. But other than that, assembly was very easy. So my overall Rating Is: A for the Pit Boss Larado 1000 Platinum, Based upon Price, Quality, And ease of Assembly. NOTE: I am NOT a paid endorser of Pit Boss Grills.

    Very pleased!
We were looking for a new gas grill but then decided to give this wood pellet smoker/grill a try. This particular smoker is only available through Walmart. One of the selling points was the overall size of this smoker as compared to others in the price range. If we had a large party we didn't want to have to cook in separate batches. Doing some online research, Pit Boss appeared to have a good reputation. Putting it together was fairly simple and most could be be done with a Phillips head screwdriver. It helps to have two people and provided a good opportunity to socialize with some neighbors while putting it together. The overall construction is sturdy and comparable to other decent smoker brands. Metal used seems plenty thick. Control are easy to use. It holds plenty of wood pellets so no danger of running out mid way through whatever you are cooking. Cleaning has been fairly easy. Probes need to be threaded through two small holes between the hopper area and the inside of the cooking compartment, perhaps not the most convenient but not the end of the world. I find the white light digital readout difficult to read in the daylight. Red or some other color with more contrast would have been much better. This smoker could use some hooks to hang tongs and other cooking utensils on. I really like the taste of cooking with wood pellets vs gas. We've cooked steaks on it on one occasion and spare ribs on another and were pleased with the results thus far.

Great smoker with only 1 flaw
Pros: App works well and is easy to set temps. It sends an alert when it reaches the cooking temp and when the heat probe reaches the set temp. On high it reaches over 500 degrees. Lots of smoke and easy to cook on. The pellets are cheaper than the compition. Holds enough pellets to run for days. Cons: Had to buy a Traeger Pellet Smoker Grill HD Replacement Steel Heat Diffuser BCA012 because it would burn the food in the middle of the grill even with the grates closed. Even when closed heat still gets through. It was an easy fix but should have come with the grill. I can remove it if I want to sear a steak. Overall for the price and features I'm very happy with the grill.

    Pellet smoker noobie.
Very well built. It can be assembled by yourself but attaching the legs is a lot easier if you have some help. This my first wood pellet smoker so I can't compare it to any other. Set-up is very simple, I do wish the temperature control stepped in 10 degree increments instead up 25. Cooked my first Brisket in it today, along with some ribs

    Amazing grill great smoke rings
This grill is fantastic. Ive owned the pitboss pro series from a competitor retailer that costs the same as this but is inferior in many ways. Ive done many different smokes and short cooks on the Laredo and all of them have been painless and come out delicious. Built like a tank and should last for years to come. Even has a 5 year warranty Pros -built solid so it holds temp well even in 20 degree weather with wind! -tons of space to smoke whatever you want for the whole block if you want -best bang for your buck and its not cheaply built -holds temps within 10 degrees of set range without compromising on smoke amount -efficient with pellets. A 12 hour smoke at 225-250 only used roughly 7-8 pounds of pellets! It was 45 degrees out. -can monitor grill when out and about to make sure everything is running well. The app is run of the mill when it comes to grill apps -front ash clean out is a huge convenience just make sure you spray it down with canola oil every once in a while to keep is sliding slick - the meat probes included tested to be within 2 degrees of a pro calibrated probe. -the grates included are heavy duty and will last forever if taken care of What could use some work - grill does take a while to preheat. But once its there the temp is rock steady and you cant put a time limit on amazing food - the hot spots can be a bit annoying because it doesnt have a fire pot heat deflector. Look at my tips and moss section for how to combat this - the app does still need some work but they are constantly improving it - adhesive from display stickers gets stuck. Grill safe degreaser will clean it off Tips for pro results and easy use - season the broiler plate, grates and ash slide out. Use canola oil or coconut oil. Get the temp up to 350-400 and let it cook on for 10 minutes. This is a life saver - clean out ash pot after every 1-3 cooks. Its super simple with the pull out tray - use a metal serving plate or small cake pan wrapped in foil. Place it on top of the broiler plate when doing long smokes. It will keep the middle of the grill from being a giant hotspot - keep the chimney cap open 1-1.5 inches. If you close it the grill can overheat or cause unstable temps. - if you find smoke flavor to be lacking dont blame the grill blame the pellet grill science. A good way to combat this is buy a smoke tube and use it in the grill. - keep 1 probe in meat you are cooking and 1 on the grate next to it so you can monitor the actual air temp the meat is getting cooked in. This can help you adjust position or grill temp to really nail that long low and slow cook - dont micromanage the temp fluctuations. They are part of the game and science of cooking. Relax. Enjoy and let the grill do the work This grill is built well priced right and is overall fantastic. Dont sweat the reviews of doa parts ALL GRILLS HAVE THAT ISSUE. its not very common and your retailer or pitboss will easily fix the problem no questions asked..

    failed first month after purchase
I loved this grill, for the 1st month! One month after purchasing, the igniter went out half-way through a smoke. I came back to an overflowing pot full of dry wood pellets, because the auger was still continually feeding the pot, but the igniter was out! This ruined a full chicken, a ribeye roast, and a rack of pork. The screen now says "err" and the igniter light flashes. I was SUPER embarrassed, and completely bummed out. While disassembling the grill to inspect the igniter, I also noticed that the inside of my grill is chipping off paint! I can't imagine that's safe for our health? Also, you CANNOT get a cover. I called pitboss, and they said Walmart has it. I called Walmart, and they say Pitboss has them... Very disappointing and frustrating. This is a great looking unit, and when it worked, it was awesome. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this. (Dang! I really wanted this to be a good review)
