Powdered butter? Oh yeah!
Just got my Augason Farms Powdered Butter today. I wanted to make that butter I keep reading about here. The directions say one half cup butter and one and a half teaspoons water, I don't know about you guys, but it wasn't enough. I put in five teaspoons of water, kept stirring and it started to look like butter! Put it in the fridge for an hour or so, it firmed up, put it on my home-made bread....and it was delish!

    Perfect for gravies and sauces
It is Salty and like a cream cheese spread but tastey and have added on cooked pasta and it made it like Alfredo tasting. You must mix with cold wayer in plastic container and chill in frig I have put it on English muffins and it taste like salty cream cheese a little. As I am experimenting for the first time Im feeling like this powdered butter mix woukd work well with baking cookies etc but also make good gravies and sauces especially Alfredo Sauce.

Butter in a can, who knew?
No refrigeration needed! This product is great for travel, camping, and emergencies. Add the recommended amount of water to get a spreadable butter. Add less water to get a firmer butter.

A can lasts for years after opening. Good taste!
We store this Powdered Butter, along with dry milk and other long term food items in our RV, Lake Cabin, and for food preps when hiking long distances. Used up the last of our Powdered Butter this winter camping, and bought that can 5 years ago. Taste is very good, and lasts for years!

    Butter Powder
for those of us who survived the days just past the great depression, we know one is coming again. I am stocking up now and canning. I used this product in my green beans, apricots, peaches, nectarines, and more. Let them rest a week, then tried them to find out how well it worked. What a delish dish I had made ... this product is well worth the effort and I am looking forward to more receipes I can use it with.

    Great substitute
I bought this to use in soups and gravies instead of regular butter. I have found it useful for many recipes including oats and cream of wheat. We even mixed it to make butter one night when we were out and it worked great! I highly recommend this product as well as any other Augason farms products. So glad I found this brand and Wal Mart makes it very affordable.

    Just OK
I was hoping for more butter flavor, but didn't get it. I put some of this on some cooked veggies--ugh-- won't be doing that again. Put some in my oatmeal, better, but not great. Would probably be OK baking. There is a rather strange aftertaste that I don't like, but it isn't really strong.

Adds creaminess in subtle way - not overpowering
It has a texture like flour, not like buttery salty topping over popcorn. I recommend using a can opener to remove the entire top. The product doesn't pour well even though it wasn't clumped. I used a pointy can opener to punch holes in the can, but that wasn't effective. I used it a few times to try it over popcorn and in oatmeal and potatoes. I couldn't hardly tell it was on the popcorn. It mixes well with oatmeal or instant potatoes and helps make such foods more tasty. It would certainly be good in baking. I plan to keep some for sprinkling over spaghetti. In an emergency calories are a good thing. I like that it's vacuum sealed in nitrogen to help it last for a long time. It says it has a shelf life of 20 years and it should be good as long as it's sealed and kept dry and cool so the can doesn't rust.

    Good but
I don;t know what I am doing wrong as the butter still have the velvet texture , I still feel the particles inside like powder and even tried to do the re-dehydration with 1:1 water and shimmer for 5 min , it was better, the original is to salty for my taste , that why I prefer the little more water option and I get sort of margarine .. that is hard enough for making the sandwich without waiting to long when is cold .. maybe next time I will try to blend it before shimmer for more creamy texture and use oil in place of water .. but it is ok in backing of my bread

I started out shopping for a case of Butter Buds. Then I read the ingredients on the Butter Buds that I had. UGH. I chose the REAL dehydrated butter instead. I am fully aware (as should other buyers be) that this will not turn into "normal" butter when reconstituted. I am on a diet and intend to sprinkle the powder over vegetables/rice/potatoes/pasta etc. as I have done with Butter Buds. Or, mix with some hot water if I need more to drizzle over something. No frying your morning eggs with it! (But you can sprinkle some over your morning eggs to give them some buttery flavor.) Butter Buds (or Molly McButter, etc.) is made primarily with corn sugar (maltodextrin). There will be lots of sprinkling in this gallon can!

    This works!
I got tired of paying $4 a pound for butter to cook with, so decided to give this a try. It comes in an aluminum can with a reusable plastic lid which I store in the fridge. It is real cream butter powder you mix with an equal part of boiling water to make a butter paste to spread on toast, etc., and keep handy in a jar in the fridge. I find no problem with this product. If you have ever bought Butter Buds with all it's additives, well this is far superior. It is cheaper to purchase through Walmart than to buy direct from Augasonfarms. I would also like to try the strawberries and mixed bell peppers. I hope Walmart will supply them.
