Great pump!
Such a good pump! I bought this one because I lost some pieces to my old breast pump and couldn't find replacements. But I'm super happy with this purchase, even at the highest setting it doesn't tug or pull to point where it's uncomfortable. It's also pretty quiet so I don't worry about making too much noise! Definitely worth the money if you're looking for an affordable pump.

Bad design, poor suction, old version was better
The pump has very little suction. I used the older version of this pump for years and it was fine, but they have made some changes to this version. It no longer has a solid plastic float valve to fill the air space next to the pump and prevent liquids from entering the pump. Instead, it has a flexible silicone cup. Where it attaches to the pump is also wider. The silicone cup moves in and out as the pump works. Both of these things together means that a larger volume of air in the pump has to be moved during pumping than before. This produces less suction than previous versions. I never had trouble getting milk before, but I can barely get a few drops of milk with this pump, even first thing in the morning. I got about an ounce one time when I had a ton of milk so that it basically pouring out on its own. It doesn't even come close to pumping the breasts dry. I can't feed my baby with what it can get. I only pump on occasion, so I get it that it doesn't have to be a hospital grade pump. That's why I was fine with the old version. It did the job when I needed it. But if I can't even get a decent feeding's worth when I have plenty of milk, the pump is useless.

    High Recommendation
Love this breast pump. Used with my first baby 5 yrs ago and look forward to using again. Very efficient with good suction and I like that it doesn't have the tubes to have to clean.

    Great for traveling
I bought this as I travel a lot and totally love it. I highly recommend it as it is compact; battery operated or you can use the plug; and it is gentle on your breasts. It really makes pumping a lot easier when you're traveling.

    Bad
Suction is not powerful enough. You will also need 3 batteries, which is silly.

No suction with cord or batteries
Bought this pump thinking it would be perfect for on the go because it uses batteries as well as cord for home. Yea well today I brought baby home and plugged it in no suction...thought ok I'll just toss batteries in, yea still no suction, not a sound anything...now here it is 12am engorged with a 2 day old baby who eats very little each feeding and no pump!! Over 65$ wasted because I bought multiple boxes of milk storage bags as well as this nonworking pump!!!

    Portable but lacking features
I have used the Evenflo Advance Single Electic Breast Pump several times since receiving it. Bottom line: I do recommend it, but for limited use only. The best feature of this pump is the portability. The pump can be powered using the AC adapter (included) or with 3 AA batteries (not included). The ability to use battery power makes this pump very portable. It can be used during power outages, on camping trips, in the car, or anywhere that an electrical outlet is not available. I also love that the batteries are just regular AA instead of having an internal rechargeable system. This adds to the convenience. I tested the strength of the suction using both AC and batteries and found that the AC power made the suction only slightly more effective, There are some drawbacks to this pump, however. First, there is no ability to change the suction cycle speed. The power of the suction itself can be changed to make the suction stronger or weaker, but the speed of the suction cannot be change. This is a problem for stimulating milk let-down, which generally requires a faster suction speed. In fact, the manual recommends manually stimulate let-down through massage and warm compresses. This is very inconvenient. Second, I tried using the pump on one side while nursing my baby on the other. This eliminates the need to manually stimulate let-down because baby will do that. The pump is loud and ended up distracting my baby from nursing. I definitely wouldn't use this pump while trying to put baby to sleep because it is too noisy. My pump came with a 24.5mm (size small) flange insert. This insert did not work for me, and I ended up using just the bare flange for pumping, which worked fine. There are, however, other flange sizes available for those that want to use an insert but need a size not included with the pump. The pump is easy to assemble, use, and clean. As someone who has had three kids and used several different brands of breast pumps over the years, I would recommend this pump be used as a backup pump only. While it is very portable, the lack of variation in the suction cycling speed makes it very inconvenient for frequent use.
