Great headset and great price. Works with XB1.
I was looking for an affordable headset for my gaming sessions on my Xbox One. All of the Xbox One headsets are pretty expensive, so I decided to risk it and get an Xbox 360 headset. I set me sights on the ear force x42 and I am glad. Not only is the price awesome but the product is too. It works perfectly well with my XB1... Even the chat functionality works (As long as you have the chat adapter for the Xbox One controller and a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable). The surround sound is really cool too! I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Broke after 3 days - Bah Humbug
My son was very excited then very disappointed - 3 days after using the headset, he heard nothing but static. Do not recommend.

    turtle beach ear force refurbished
got for my son for xmas and didn't work from the day he took it out of the box. the microphone goes in and out. I contacted the company Wires zone and they waited until the item was 30 days past the return policy so offered to replace it when I just wanted my money back. So I contacted Walmart and they made good on the purchase and refunded my money. So happy with how Walmart was prompt with returning emails in responding.

Do not buy for Xbox one
Headset works fine for only Xbox 360. You have to buy a whole bunch of extra stuff to make it work for the Xbox One. Still haven't gotten to use it, after many YouTube tutorials and google researching.

    OUCH!
This is not the "Wireless" headset I expected, it must be connected to the controller with a wire. Not what I expected, but I tried it anyway. Good sound but after an hour of use it felt like it was pushing my ears into my head. Thus causing a headache and ending my gaming session. I returned this headset and purchased the Turtle Beach XC1 (single ear headset), speaker vibrates when gaming partners speak. I thought it was just a defective unit so I exchanged it and found the same problem with the new one. I'm starting to wonder if it's my bad luck or Turtle Beach products. I hear they are a good company.... That's my 2 cents. Good luck

    meh
So it came in good condition. But after a while of using the batteries died so I switched them out. But after a few more time replacing them I realize that's its a battery killer. I also sometimes have to manually restart it because the in game voice would be somewhat quieter than the game environment. In order for them to work with the Xbox one you must already have a $20 controller adapter. Also for listening to music your going to need an auxiliary cord. Not exactly as comfortable as the price(I paid 60), but that's what I get for buying a Turtle Beach. Do your research and if you can deal with most of these things like I have its worth it only if you have both consoles.

    Nice headphones
Great sound with different surround options Very good set of wireless headphones for the money. Only downfall is that the 2AAA batteries don't last too long.

A great improvement over the X41
I like the fact that this unit uses WiFi to handle the communications. The X41 set was suffering from lots of interference from my 2.4 GHz WiFi. The X42 should have been easy to set up but the instructions were not clear. To pair the headphones to the transmitter you have to hold the pair button on the base until it starts blinking and then hold the power button on the headphones until you hear a second set of beeps. The first pair of beeps tells you they are turned on and the second pair of beeps tell you it's pairing. It took me way too long to figure that out. For me, the X42 doesn't have as much range as the X41. It might be a reduction of 5-10 feet. That's acceptable given that I no longer suffer from the loud crackles of interference I had before. I don't find them as comfortable as the X41 but it's not so bad that I can't watch an entire movie or play a few hours of games with them on. If you're looking for a cheap pair of surround sound headphones/gaming headset, this is hard to beat.

    Excellent Deal
You can't get X42's without paying at least $90 usually so these refurbished ones are more than half price and just like new. I was disappointed by the fact that I can't use rechargeable batteries (it makes an awful screeching sound) but other than that these are top-of-the-line and perfect for first person shooters or night time/quiet gaming. You won't get a better deal on a good wireless headset; I payed $40 for some wired X12's and was happy to get them that cheap so wireless X42's with Dolby capability are a steal!

    Incorrect description
The description says this is for the xbox 360 or xbox one, but the cord that comes with it does not fit the xbox one controller.
