Best solution for pre-paid family members IMHO :)
So, my father is in an assisted living facility in the twilight of his life. He barely uses his phone and a subscription is a waste of money for someone on a fixed income. Caring for him is a pleasure and difficult at times. When we need his cell to work, it is usually for a very important reason. Furthermore, my Dad, much like my late Mother, worries about everything and when his cell phone has any kind of problem, the problem is magnified. T-Mobile is one of the most affordable solutions, at $3 a month to keep the phone number alive and working it is a good and reasonable solution for someone facing the above mentioned circumstances. There are challenges for refilling the card though as sending him a Top-up is difficult, as the T-Mobile system does not make this easy. I used a service called pinzoo for a while, and they weren't easy to deal with but with some effort I could resolve the issue. A few months ago, I tried to Top-up with them but they have a very difficult approval process that I had trouble navigating. Pinzoo does have a sort of frequent buyer points incentive which I tried to take advantage of but in the end it was just a pain in the you know what. So a few months ago I discovered Walmart's online topup where I could send a top up to my dad and the topup automatically applied after about 15 minutes after a successful payment. This really is helpful and I will continue to use Walmart online as this is very helpful. Thanks Walmart!!!

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/12/2014T-Mobile pay as you goI am not one of the millions of cell phone zombies out there that has to be yacking on the phone from sun up to sun down and frankly don't understand why so many people can't seem to function without their phones. That is why a prepaid phone is more than adequate for me. If I need to make a call I turn my phone on, make the call, and turn it back off. I am a T-Mobile gold member so all I need to do is buy some minutes once a year and any previously unused minutes are extended for another year. I spend ten bucks a year on my cell phone and for that I will keep it. Might be handy if I was to break down or something.Captleemo

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/27/2014T-Mobile $10 30 minutes expires 90 daysThis process couldn't be easier. I buy these minutes from Walmart at a reduced price and then they take care of notifying T-Mobile of the purchase. I get an email with a serial number on it to verify with T-Mobile and then the minutes appear on my phone. This all takes just minutes.SmartyPlants

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/25/2014Delivery really slow, product fineMy recommendation would be to drive to the store and pick this up. It took mine three days to be delivered by email instead of the 60 minutes stated in the product description (though there is a mention of within 48 hours further down in the description).TS730CC

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/09/2014Long waitI was expecting to get this via email within a few hours...as it says. It didn't come for nearly 44 hours after I purchased it. Disappointing. I had to run to the store when I didn't have it the next morning. It's fine if you want to take the chance of waiting though.Smariezl

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/02/2014Took three days to deliver itThe card is fine, but it took three days for me to get it. I do not understand what the delay was for an E-mail card. Think again if you are buying it for a last minute gift.Googoo252
