Great Value
The player works as intended connects to wifi or would connect via network cable. It has a great qwerty keyboard setup in the menu, so punching in emails and passwords is easy.

SLOW!! Apps CRASH ALL THE TIME! DROPS NETWORK Conn
Sorry player. Slow to load. All the apps crash all the time! Drops my Wi-Fi connection constantly. No buttons on the outside to play a CD!! YES,THIS FEATURE IS STILL VERY NECESSARY! What if my TV broke? Then I can't even use this thing to listen to music! You can not operate this thing without a display already hooked up. Oh,the one button on this box,the EJECT button, only works like,NEVER. Now my precious disk is stuck inside. Lousy Hardware. Lousy Software(apps). Zero stars. Oh,the web browser (Opera) is useless.

    super easy set up !
I am not electronics savvy, so I was REAL pleased with the plug'n play of the Sony. We plugged it to wall & TV and it practically walked is through the set up process. One step at a time it explained things in layman's terms, right on the screen. Thank you Sony, this is SO much better than the "other" device we were using to connect to netflix etc. We did not even open the owner's manual. From now on, this is a Sony home !

    Excellent performance
This is the best model at this price. Picture production is the finest. This model streams flawlessly. All pre-loaded apps works perfectly. Remote controls tv volume, as well. Could not be more pleased. Best product purchase - ever! Attaboy, Sony!

    Needs Work...
This player needs work. Initial setup and connection to wi-fi was a bit frustrating and more time consuming than it should've been. And I have had to download two software updates already in the short time that I've owned it. I fully understand the first one, since it was out of the box, but two seems excessive. The Bluray/DVD player works fine, but connecting to the wi-fi and streaming is still a bit "glitchy" and not as intuitive as it should be. The Netflix button on the remote still doesn't work right. I still have to click on the app on the screen to get there. And I still get occasional error messages when trying to connect to wi-fi, even though I can eventually get it to connect. Maybe the next software update might fix some of these problems? I do like the small size of the unit in comparison to what I had before.

    Gr8 Blu-ray player
This is my first BD player. I don't have cable at my place. So when my old 55" Samsung LCD stopped working with its apps- I needed BD player. Right away after attaching BD player I saw a dramatic increase in the picture quality. My BD player is attached to my TV via AV receiver. App options are ok but could be better with more regular choices. Initially, player kept dropping wifi signals but after using WSP key no further issues with wifi connection.

    Not overwhelmed
This was an impulse buy to replace a dead player. I went only with what was on the box for information which for all manufacturers is sorely lacking so the playing field was level there. This unit is a bit quicker to start up than the player it is replacing even if I don't have the quick start mode enabled. It is much smaller. They have also done away with the odd case design which at least in the box did not look flat on top which turned me off when I bought the last time. That's all the good I've got. The neutral. It played a disc. I've only played one Blu-ray disc so far. I have no idea if there are any features on particular discs that have any issues. I didn't use the last player extensively enough to run into any firmware vs disc issues and don't know how this one rates on that front either. Netflix works, takes forever to load, but it works. The bad. The Wi-Fi. It is sitting less than 4 feet from the router. It complains about slow connection speed for firmware updates on a U-verse high speed feed. I had to download the firmware update to a USB stick for the initial out of the box update. It wouldn't even work over the network. The included apps: zero descriptions of what they are. Just a bunch of icons, and it takes forever for them to load to find out what the heck they are and if they are free or subscription. Lots of buffering. Really not fun to surf. The DLNA client?. Really? If you look at the list of "playable types of files" and start eliminating the ones that can't be played over the network, you start with 19 video codecs/containers and end up with 3....at least by the chart. In actuality, it seems even less because very little seems to play over the network. It seems to have almost no buffer and keeps dropping the connection if you try to look through directories to fast or dare to use the FF or REV function too often. The directory tree looks nothing like an explorer tree. There is no slow-mo at all. It's not the fault of the server. It is less than 9 months old running Win7 Pro on an unlocked i7 4790 with 32mb ram, an SSD and a GTX970. This applies to this Sony and the player it replaced: why, when this is such a minimal platform with no serious computing requirements, why is it so SLOW? Are you using up old Pentium I or 486 chips?

I have not had this player long just a couple of weeks and I am going to return it today. It stops playing, sound stops it is not worth the money I paid for it.

    VERY pleased
Didn't have the money for a smart TV. A friend gave me this blu-ray player for my 50th birthday and I am so happy with it. My 14-year-old daughter loves to watch Youtube videos as well as E-tv (a webcam channel with webcams set up all over the world). Love the fact the USB port is on the FRONT! (FINALLY!) The picture is astonishing. The ease of use and set up were great. Had a bit of trouble at the beginning, but the support team really hung in there and helped until everything was just right. I highly recommend this model.
