I was surprised at how soft and comfy this mattress was. I took it out the box and plastic and it opened right up to the 12 inch size. Its supposed to take 24 hours to expand but it expanded a lot right away. It's super thick and so far feels very comfortable. I am surprised at how great a mattress in a box could be!

Nice feel but too soft
This Sealy 12-Inch bed in a box Medium-Soft Hybrid Memory Foam Mattress, King is a very nice bed itself. It has a great fell that i want to slp on. I really like the mattress itself a lot for comfort. But because the mattress itself has some inconsistencies i made me not want it or like it too much. Now the matress is 12 inch high and it was 12 inch high from the moment i opened it and let air in. But i have had it for 2 weeks now and this King size mattress is still 76x76 inches in length and width. Now my king size sheets still git nicely without too much bagginess but i am tall and big. So for them to take 4 inches from the length of the bed that made me not like this at all. I mean i was expecting a king size bed of 80x76 inches in length and width. I upgraded my bed frame with cost extra money and had to buy king size sheets for this mattress as well. I didn't get a box spring as yet, but what if i did. This was just so disappointing. But the bed itself is a soft feel as described.

    Surprisingly comfortable and sturdy. 5 stars.
    Did not expect the surprisingly comfortable feel of support and the low price. What a pleasant experience from beginning to end. A friend had recommended this model to us and we were reluctant to buy one; however after continuous raves by our friend and others, we decided to go for it. We checked ratings and prices on line and found this model to be highly recommended. We compared the online Walmart price with that of local mattress stores for similar quality and found that ordering on line from Walmart was $500 to $800 less than the local stores for similar high quality. The process of putting this rolled mattress on the bed is just a tiny bit more complicated than having some truck delivery person coming into the house to remove the old mattress and putting a conventional one on. The box arrived on our doorstep as promised. It was heavy to move inside but we got help and we let it acclimate to the inside temperature and humidity of our house for 24 hours. The box is about 4' high and 12" square. We needed an extra person to help to take our old mattress off the bed and then to unpack, unroll and put on the box spring. (This definitely needs a box spring according to the manufacture handout.) Inside the box is a big and heavy rolled mattress which looks like a log. Instantly as the plastic was opened (by scissor, not knife) the mattress unrolled and inflated extremely fast. Positioning it in its final position prior to unwrapping was very helpful. Unrolling it and getting it in the proper position was the most difficult part. A gush of air rushed into the mattress and it inflated almost 100% within a minute. Although the instructions say you can sleep on it right away, we waited 20 hours for the inflation to stabilize and for the barely noticeable chemical smell to dissipate. As soon as we laid down on it, we were convinced it was a great investment. The bed is medium firm and very comfortable. It is sturdily made. We are 75 yrs old and both of us have back problems and since we have been sleeping on this mattress we have been sleeping soundly and comfortably. One drawback we found was that this mattress, being the 12" model, is 4 inches higher than our old mattress. I had to build a small platform to put on my side of the bed to get on and off comfortably. I figure I would have had this height difference with any other mattress we bought, so I am not taking any stars off for the height. We would also have the same difficulties swapping our old mattress for a conventional new one, so no stars off for this bed in a box for that either. This is a 5 star mattress all around. Ira from NC

    Seems to be a great Mattress so far...
    So far so good! Very heavy! I had to get my 83 yr old mom to help me get it moved, lol. Let it off-gas a couple of nights but it wasn't that bad (and I am very sensitive to smells). Very comfortable and I hope it holds up well and lasts a long time! I would say it is a little on the firm side but has enough squish to not be uncomfortable. I won't sit on the edges often but I'm glad I don't sink down when I do like I did on my old bed.

    Excellent choice
    I was very hesitant about buying a hybrid mattress in a box, but I have been extremely pleased with it overall ! It came out almost completely ready. I did wait about 33 hours before trying my first night sleeping on it. Very firm but comfortable from the first night on. I wanted the Sealy since that was my old mattress maker and I felt it would be quality made. There were a lot of comments about new smell and I am very sensitive , but I did not detect anything strong, and never any odor once sleeping on it!

    Bed in a box indeed!
    Yes, this mattress came in a box! I was a little skeptical at 1st but it turned out to be great. This mattress is VERY comfortable and conforms to the body. It's nice and soft but not tooo soft. I love the 2 tones, white top and black bottom, it looks very sophisticated. I like my bed high so this 12in mattress was perfect after putting it on the box spring. If you're going to use this mattress for a kids bed, then it's best to also get a mattress cover.

    It's like a magic trick!
    I was a little skeptical that a decent mattress could come folded up into a box, but I was wrong. The box arrived and I was still like NO WAY is this a thick mattress. We got it out of the box and when we started opening the plastic, it literally started hissing. Scared my baby a bit, but once the plastic was off, it bounced up to the advertised measurements. It is incredibly soft and sturdy. It feels just as nice, if not better, as my overly expensive mattress I have made by another manufacturer. It is so so soft. My boys instantly jumped on it and said it felt great. Luxury in a box. There were a few minor complaints and confusions I wanted to mention. The confusing part is one part of the instructions says to place it where you plan to use it before opening it up. The other part of the instructions says to keep it in a well ventilated area for 72hours. My son's room with his crib is intended room to use, but not where I want to ventilate something that calls for it. The mattress did have a chemical smell when first opened, but now 72 hours later we don't smell anything. It was not hard to move. I only got a twin XL. I think that if I had ordered a large size bed this might be problematic. Placing it where its intended, but also in a well ventilated area. My only complaint is with the shipper (not the product), they put this giant box barely up my driveway near a wall. It's heavy, even just for a Twin XL. It's not something you can just pick up and carry. I had to get my kids to help me get it to the actual house.

    So comfortable and supportive
    This mattress is so comfortable with great support for the back.Soft but yet so supportive, it's right in between.Takes two people to get it unwrapped and unfolded.Once you cut the vac seal it expands immediately. Once it expands it's much easier to move around also.I waited 48 hours for it to expand fully before I slept on the mattress. I had a wonderful nights sleep and I was very comfortable all night. The mattress is thick and supportive and you can tell the mattress cradles your body right.And the quality of the mattress is great, I'm sure I will have this for many years this one is even more comfortable than my old one when it was new It has a new foam smell but it's not strong or overpowering, I sleep just fine.And everyday it is getting less of a smell. I really like this mattress , it's beautiful comfortable and good quality. It wasn't bad setting it up at all with a little help.I now look forward to bed time I wake up without a painful back it's a very comfortable sealy mattress.I'm writing this review for the Walmart Spark reviews program and highly recommend this sealy bed in a box mattress.

    I am excited to review the Sealy 12-Inch bed in a box Medium-Soft Hybrid Memory Foam Mattress in queen size. First of all I decided to go for the biggest (12") size they made and glad I did. Now one may be a little skeptical about a bed in a box but this way of shipping beds is becoming more and more common & it doesn't mean the bed is some sort of cheap bed. I found that this bed had very high ratings online so I was excited to try it out. It opened up very easily after I took it out of the box. It had a very minimal smell that some have said it has like a " shipping sort of smell " and the minimal smell went away within a few hours. It flattened out and took its normal flat shape pretty quickly. It was very soft but not too squishy and I took a nap on it before I could even put sheets on it. That's how you know it's comfortable, when you fall asleep just testing the thing out! I'm very excited about this bed and it seems very true to size as my queen sheets fit on it perfectly. I feel I'll be sleeping very well on this for years and happy it's a well known and trusted brand as well.

    Great Sleep Ahead!
    This is a great mattress! I have been a memory foam user for a little over ten years. I started with an eight inch off brand. My next memory foam was a ten inch when the “bed in a box” was the new craze. So this mattress, a trusted brand- Sealy, and a twelve inch memory foam, and still using the bed in a box technology- I was very excited to try it out! I always worry about the smell with the bed in a box (compression) as I am very sensitive to smells. I am happy to say that I was not bothered at all by the smell of the new mattress. The box was large, but still impressively small considering it held a 12 inch California king mattress!! It was HEAVY, however- be prepared to need help to drag it in from your porch upon delivery! I needed no “adjustment period” as I am an experienced memory foam mattress sleeper. I positively recommend “splurging” and getting the 12 inch! If you are unfamiliar with memory foam, it eliminates pressure points and allows you to sleep so very well all night through. It also does have a cooling airflow that keeps you from getting overly hot. I absolutely recommend this mattress from a quality and trusted brand- you will get the BEST sleep!
