much better than a hand "spreader" -
lightweight and very easy to operate. even spreader - gauge to change the amount of seed or feed...

Doesn't work well
Doesn't spread evenly. the spreader plate is to low and it throws the material into the wheel and it leaves lines of heavy material. With fertilizer this causes stripes in the lawn of darker and lighter green. Not as good as the old model. don't waste your money!

    Works well
It came it smaller than what we used to have but it works perfectly. I bought it for my husband as something to replace his old one and he liked it the moment he started using it

Exactly what I needed to fertilize my lawn
This spreader is awesome. Love that most lawn products trust the Scotts brand so well that they all have setting instructions on their packaging for this spreader. It gives you one less thing to worry about.

Grass seed makes spreader difficult to move
I have a Scotts rotary spreader, but I bought this DROP spreder to specifically use along plant beds to overseed with grass seed. Past overseedings allowed too much seed to land in plant beds when using ROTARY spreader, requiring lots of vegetation killer the following spring. I had to apply some insect granuels several weeks before overseeding, so I tried out the Scotts DROP spreader. Everything seemed to work fine. When it came time to apply grass seed, the grass seed made the orange drum with fingers at bottom of hopper impossible to push the DROP spreader. The wheels refused to rotate. I had to remove seed several times until the orange drum was partially visable. Once I got moving, the spreader worked OK. Unfortuanetely, I had to keep stoping to add more seed. Good thing I didn't have to use this DROP spreader on my entire 1 1/4 acre lot. Not sure if Scotts designed drum to have as many little fingers on drum as they have for grass seed, but it doesn't work well with grass seed. I have not tried any granular fertilizers, but the insect killer worked fine. Since I may not overseed for another YEAR, I might start trimming some of the fingers on drum to see if spreading seed improves. I would think you would only need about 1/4 of the fingers. It's called a DROP spreader, so the fingers aren't forcing the material through the bottom openings.

    Used Item
My first order I received as if someone taken a bat and beat it to death and the replacement was someone else's and had their paper's inside it along with what have already been used and not the original box!

    Beyond disappointed
Not a novice when it comes to fertilizing. Worked 6 summers at a golf course, so I know that for the best results you criss cross your pattern. I also use a marker to keep my passes around 5 feet apart. But the design of this makes it impossible not to leave stripes in your lawn. I would have thought Scotts would have provided a spreader as good as their fertilizer.

    Do not buy!
My yard looks like a checkered board because of this spreader. The picture doesn't do it justice of how horrible the lines are.

    Poorly engineered
With the edge guard feature a gap is created above the diverter and drops extra product on the lawn which shows as a line.

    Great Little Spreader
MY old Speader was on it's last leg. This little does a good job, now if only the stuff it spred would killlk the weeds I be a happy camper but so far the dandelions or going strong and the grass is green
