Dont bother with this player
I bought this unit almost immediately after I bought a Sony BDP-BX350 after i realized that model would not play 3D BluRays. I figured being a Samsung it would be a high quality device and the specs looked great. LOOKED being the operative word. I second the opinions on here about the device seeming cheap in quality, the lack of any sort of lights or screen on the device is absolutely ridiculous. You have no idea whats going on with the player with not status leds or small led screen. And despite this saying how good it is to play media of your computers and tablets and phone, it isnt. It may work find with a android phone, but will not work at all with a computer. You cannot use the Cast to Device feature in windows to play media files with this device, which is a total deal killer for me as that is how i play 99%+ of everything I watch. Should of stuck with the Sony because it at least worked for the Cast to Device, but I had given it away to a friend thinking I was upgrading to a better device. Also people may not be clear on this, but it does not support 4k, only 1080p. So if you got it hoping to play 4K bluray disc or other high resolution media, it wont. It will only display it in 1080p. Time to go buy a more advanced Sony that supports 4K and 3D, since I know it will work with 'Cast to Device'

    Unreliable
I bought the Samsung BD JM57C blu ray player with wifi capabilities around October 2016. It used to work fine until about January 2016. It always has a problem with freezing. If it stays on for too long it will freeze. Turning it off/on won't help. I have to disconnect it from the outlet and reconnect it. More recently it has stopped being able to connect to my router. No changes have been made. It just won't connect. I have to go into the Network settings and refresh the IP settings, EVERY TIME i turn it on. It has also become more and more unstable. Freezing and needing restarts more and more often. All in all I would say stay away from this device unless you just have money to throw away.

Low quality DVD player for sure.
Bought this DVD player to replace the Sony unit we had for a few years. Almost from day one, this new player was LOUSY. It has terribly slow connection speeds to my home network, for one. We use this unit for Netfix viewing, and while I can browse Netflix with no problem, as soon as I select a movie or show to watch, it takes FOREVER for it to load, if it does at all. Quite frequently, the Netflix app (or another function of the DVD player?) freezes up. The only way to unfreeze it is to turn in off then back on. Sometimes THAT doesn't even work, with the remote, OR with the on/off switch on the unit, which doesn't have an indicator light to let me know what it's doing. So, I need to unplug a brand new DVD player from the wall outlet to do a hard reset to allow the unit to function again. What a joke. Of all the good things I've heard about Samsung over recent years, I'm VERY disappointed with this model. I can't wait to return this piece of junk.

    Do not buy
I received this item as a Christmas present and it turned on once and wouldn't work again. Walmart was very nice and allowed me to exchange this item for the exact same thing. This time it worked on WiFi for only a couple times before it wouldn't turn on. The DVD player would never open for a disc during the time I had it. There are no lights indicating power is on. For the amount of money spent on this equipment I would expect better. Very dissatisfied. (Within 2 months and two units, I have nothing).

    Works Ok, but....
Bought this unit for 3D, Blue Ray, Wifi, etc. While it does work, it has several things wrong. 1. NO POWER INDICATOR - Really? How do I know it is powered up without this. 2. Comic strip menus - I would expect this type of menu on a unit in the 15 -30 dollar price range. 3. No Screen Saver - Really? Even my APEX 15.00 unit has this. 4. When it goes is to power saver mode (Like after you have paused for awhile) when you push play again, the disc starts over. Again, a basic unit will allow you to pickup where you left off. 5. Seems very cheap. Plastics are more of an entry level quality. Could be better in this price range. 6. SAMSUNG Support was VERY bad - Tried to get support from the vendor, but, they just told me that there was no power light, and, if a feature was not there, to wait for updates. I had a BDE5900 DVD Player, which has been good. Of course, now it seems that it only will play regular DVD's, but, again, a much better unit, and pretty close to what I paid for this new junker! I will be returning it, and try to find a new one with much better quality, or, at least a POWER light.

BD-JM59 3d wifi Samsung fan in shock
I wanted to upgrade my blue ray player and picked Samsung because its my new go to brand. Everything a got of theirs great technical design. The new prayer is no frills and setup in a minute with a fine remote. It found the WI-FI and a update so the software quickly. Now the point of the review. While watching a blu-ray disc that is in good condition, I starting seeing a flashing on the screen. Looked like someone taking a picture. It kept happening in strange timing. Bothered me enough to try the same movie in the old player with no flashing. Moved onto watching some shows streamed and the flashing happened there too. This was the same wires and system with both players. I have no question that flashing was the new player. I could see the issue better using peripheral vision. There was a larger band about 1/8 of the screen that was blank. Sometime it was much larger. One more thing. The box is so plain, I found no light or anything to show power is on. My theater has enough stuff that I like to know things are all off with out having to select the device to know it is off.
