HP refurbished, Great machine!
With Windows 7 updates ending in January, it seemed like a good time to get a machine with windows 10. This is an excellent machine. Looks and works just like new. Setup was a breeze. This is my third refurbished HP machine from Joy Systems. I can see no good reason to buy new.

    Great Refurb'ed HP 8100-SFF Core i5-650 w/W10P
I purchased my "Refurbished HP 8100-SFF Core i5-650...Windows 10 Pro" from this Walmart website, for $174.48, no tax plus Free Shipping. As far as price goes, I have seen other refurb'ed HP 8100-SFF Core i5-650 selling elsewhere for less, but the majority, I speculate, are being distributed with the original operating system, which is W7 (Windows 7). I have seen a few of the same refurb'ed model being distributed with W10H (Windows 10 Home), but have yet to find a lower price for the same refurb'ed model with W10P (Windows 10 Pro). As far as receiving my purchase, the Walmart seller, JoySystems, provided the sale with two free delivery options: either 1) Free Store Pickup or 2) Free Shipping to an address. I chose to have the HP sent to my home. JoySystems shipped the same day I ordered it, and the computer arrived at my door the very next day! When I unboxed it, I discovered JoySystems had included instructions for completing the installation of Windows 10 Pro onto the refurbished HP 8100-SFF. I successfully completed the task on the first attempt, and now I have an activated W10P OS. AND YES, this HP COMES WITH WINDOWS 10 PRO installed! Having been diminished to using PC running processors at 1.1GHz to 1.5GHz, even with RAM maxed out, I have to wait for the PC to catch up on the most basic of features, like composing this review. For this reason, I chose to purchase a PC that ran at 3GHz or higher. There's nothing like an OS running at high frequencies. An OS running at 1.1GHz, no matter how much memory is installed, or how many cores are available, because it still can't do the job as fast as a PC running two cores at 3GHz to 4GHz. It's always wait for the processor to catch up, so I can continue whatever I am doing. So when I began writing this review, I checked what the Core i5-650 was. To my surprise, it is a dual core with hyper-threading and turbo. I purchased this under the impression I was getting four real cores. Even two cores at 3GHz will far exceed what a 1.5GHz processor can do. The Family PC will remain the family's possession, but my notebooks and tablets are history. I'm getting another desktop, with four cores, hyper-threading, and turbo that is from a more recent generation. However, back to this review...If you were to purchase a boxed and sealed copy of Windows 10 Pro from a retail store, you might expect to pay $200 at full price. I bought this version of Windows 10 Pro for less, and it came with a PC! The Core i5-650 retailed at about $177, which is what I paid for the whole PC. This truly is a bargain, even if I did not get exactly what I thought I would have (and it was my fault for assuming and not checking). Further, the 8GB of RAM is single architecture, and the motherboard has two rows, so all I need to buy is another 1x8GB RAM. Had the builder distributed this with 2x4GB, I would have had to buy 2x8GB of RAM to maximize the RAM; so I saved money because 1x8GB exists, and only needs one more 1x8GB to max the RAM. So long as you are not in need of a current generation processor, this PC is very much worth the price, in my opinion, for a variety of reasons, some of which I haven't bothered to discuss yet, some I already have. But for playing movies, music, games, and online tasks, this PC is able to handle the task sufficiently. In summary, the price was right, the delivery was nearly immediate, and the ease of use and speed of processing would make my life much happier, if this were solely my PC to use.
