Cheaply made and the ladders fell off while our hamster was trying to climb and descend. Returned to Walmart.

They both fit in the house together and love running through the different levels. They are a little larger than a hamster so they end up knocking the ladders down frequently. We also took the wheel out and added some of their toys from their past habitat. This cage is so simple to put together and makes cleaning it very easy!SavvyShopper0709

If you find a way to secure them in the cage it just fine. My sons gerbils love the cage they do go up and down the ladders with ease and they seem very happy with the cage and i love the little house that comes with it however the gerbils can chew it up and times. But for the price it was a good buy.Matt

Also , there is no way my hamster could walk on the platforms so I had to put cardboard so she could have a flat surface to walk on. If you plan on purchasing this product just know you are definitely going to have to make adjustments to it. But overall, it is very cheap compared to other hamster cages and with adjustments it can be a great place to live for any hamster.Yizzy

Overall, the cage seems much smaller than other cages. The hamster is in a wire cage now, one that has plastic ramps and platforms. Also, the exercise wheel is too small for a full size hamster. Have to return this cage.blk2fly

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser02/22/2015Good Sized Cage - Not the best qualityI have bought this cage for 2 different hamsters over time. Both hamsters have been black bear syrians (so on the bigger side). As many people mentioned the bars arent great for their feet so I tend to take out the bottom grate that comes with the cage. Syrians are also known to like to climb so this cage works great. The cage isnt the best quality but with a few modifications is plenty sturdy. Zipties to hold the platforms in place help. I find the hamsters tend to relocate the stairs to the places they prefer. One of the hamsters actually hated the lower set of stairs so eventually I took it out replacing it with a little climber on the bottom where she could just climb on the side of the cage or reach the 2nd floor. The wheel that comes with the cage is useless (just throw it out) and buy a silent spinner. It fits well in this cage. The little house isn't bad in size. I however never put the tops on them as they never stay on, besides both hamsters have climbed over the top and through the door to enter the house anyway. The entire cage can collapse which is great and very light weight. I do tape the front of the tray, since I take out the wire bottom panel so it can not be pushed out. There is also room were leakage can occur if the panel is removed. I looked for another 3 tier cage and have had trouble finding them so this cage (with modifications) has been my solution. Cleaning is easy as long as it is done regularly, though I have found that over time the plastic can absorb smell so I have just replaced it when that happens. For the price -- why not?!Shannon

The setup is perfect size for the rat now, but I'm sure he will outgrow it at some point. It was pretty easy to put together and the rat likes the little house. The wheel is garbage - flimsy and out-of-round. I have heard that rats need a big wheel anyway because their backs cannot bend like a hamster/gerbil. The slideout tray for cleaning is a nice feature. Overall, pretty nice and a price that is half of what is charged at pet stores.Dutch991
