Excellent choice
Combo modem/router replaces modem for which Cox charges me $29.00 a month after I cancelled useless land line service. Am now connected to Ethernet and WI-FI , for less than 6 months "rental" cost from Cox, and everything works just fine.

Doesn't work well with Xfinith/Comcast
Lots of issues with Xfinity internet service. On the day of installation the modem gave lots of headache. Signal to the modem was fine but there was no connectivity. Called Xfinity and they sent a technician. Luckily, it was a free service call because of the initial service installation. Two weeks later the modem stopped working with the same unknown issues. Called Xfinity to find out that the service would cost $39. Instead, we decided to return this item and pick up another one from the Xfinity store. No issues so far! This modem is being returned!!

    Solid performance-UNTIL!
    Worked great until I moved it one day. After simply moving the unit-and not rough or recklessly handling-it never worked again. Defeating overall cost effectiveness vs leasing Comcast equipment-which comes with less set up headaches. I still want to (falsely) believe it's internet providers fault. Ha ha Credit due for the 11 months it worked absolutely great!

    Netgear and internet provider couldn't help me.
    I couldn't connect to my internet provider. I tried calling Netgear and the internet provider. Neither of their help could help me. Had to get help from relatives. Also would like an easier way to connect or disconnect the cable from the modem-router. It would make it more practical to disconnect when there is a thunderstorm since I have had surges blow two of them out in two years. The down-side is that the cable end would have to be changed.

    Not good
    Did not connect as wifi .. I connected my cable company box first it worked great, than I connected this box and all the lights worked but it did not have a wifi connection

    Ditch the rental
    Excellent product. Had it plugged in and zipping along in 30 minutes-I had to call Cox and have them update my account. No complaints so far and its also really fast.

    -fair price I guess-
    I dono. It make my internet act up a bit. After I gave compcast rental back I'm using this one saving me 15$ a month but comcast router better. First time using NetGear

    Really good price for a gateway. Set up took about 20 or so minutes and I believe it says set up via your computer is optional to get it going, you WILL need to finish set up on your computer once it is activated through your ISP or at least I had to. Using my phone didn't cut it. Once I did that, my devices started connecting to the internet correctly. My old gateway had poor wifi reception in my 2-story house but this one reaches the whole house! Really strong wifi signal. I've only had it for a week so I'll see how well it works in the months to come but for now at least, I'm very pleased!
