Purchase Window 7 from Walmart online store
I Purchase Window 7 to replace Window XP from Walmart online store and service was on time and excellent. I mistakenly ordered the 64 bits verses the 32 bits and I returned to a Walmart store without any issues. The product was easy to install. I read and follow the recommendation from Window and the process was painless.

Not useful for upgrading Vista computer
I ordered this thinking I could use it to upgrade from Vista SP2 to Windows 7...however, I learned that a "pre-installation kit" is needed (OPK) in order to boot, you cannot boot from this disc. Nor can you obtain the OPK if you are not a business owner who resells computers. Glad I found out before I opened it. So, make sure you know it's uses before you order.

Recommended upgrade to old operating system
I upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit from Vista Service Pack 2 32 bit. Before purchasing determine if your computer requires the 32-bit or 64-bit release. You do this from the Windows start menu and selecting Control PanelSystem and SecuritySystem. Then place your order through Walmart for the version you need. They shipped to my home at no cost within a few days. Installation was easy. Loaded the DVD in my machine and started install from the pop up window. The process was easy but it took a few hours. You don't have to do anything during this but the process is not instant. All files are present and my desktop looks the same and my machine runs faster.

It was easy to install. Great operating system
The installation was easy on a Dell Inspiron 530 with 4 gigs of ram. I had no problems during the process (not even with the internet network drivers). I kept the computer connected to the internet during installation. Disconnect all other peripheral equipment (printers scanners etc) before beginning. After windows is ready to use, reconnect your peripheral devices one at a time. Windows will automatically find the OEM drivers on the internet. I like win 7 more than XP. I don't upgrade every time something new comes out. Hopefully this operating system will be around for a while. P.S. I left the computer on for a few days and used it normally, but did not install personal software until the automatic updates were complete. After two weeks of use I haven't had any problems. Now I'm ready to activate it.

May not be what you're looking for.
The issue here is whether you're trying to upgrade an existing system, or build a system from scratch. What I received was intended to be an initial installation on a newly-built or re-built computer. Useless as an upgrade unless you are willing to erase your entire hard-drive and lose all existing , data, and related software. (It does allow for multiple system builds, however,) If you're looking to upgrade from Vista, without giving up on existing programs and data, you need to buy a specifically purposed upgrade version of Windows 7.

    Windows 7 Good product.
I purchased 2 Windows 7 OS to replace Windows XP on 2 computers. All you have to do is backup Win XP to an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer Software which you can download free directly from Microsoft.com. While XP is running just insert the Windows 7 cd and select custom install. Overall very easy and took about 30 minutes. Once installed, just run Windows easy Transfer from your external hard drive to re-install your files. NOTE: Any programs you have installed on XP will NOT be transferred you must re-install them again.

not in original pakg box and home prem should
sale ad online was deceptive as if this item was for regular consumer. Instead it was sent in a brown envelope and included license agreement for a computer builder and his/her responsibilities at resale. Microsoft had to help me. The product code could not be easily read because it was mixed in with other print..and etc.........

    Windows 7
For those upgrading from Windows XP, and don't have the hardware to support Windows 8, this is a great solution. Because of the hardware requirements of Windows 8 I don't think Windows 7 will be going away any time soon. The installation is very easy and takes care of everything itself including most drivers.

    Successful "upgrade" from Windows XP
This was purchased to replace the Windows XP software on my home computer. Walmart doesn't mention it in the description but this is actually just the "System Builder" or "OEM" version. I am not sure exactly what the difference is between this and the "Full Retail" version but it may be that the software is not transferable between machines; also it seems that any support must come from Walmart rather than from Microsoft. The discrepancy between what I thought I was getting (Full Retail) vs. what I received (OEM) is what caused me to downgrade the ratings. It is a single software license. Deliver occurred more swiftly than promised. Despite this being the "OEM" version installation was very simple, just insert the disk and follow the prompts for a "custom" install -- the "OEM pre-installation tools" mentioned in the instructions were not needed. I had already used the Windows Easy Transfer download to back files up onto an external hard drive prior to installing Windows 7 and had no problem getting them all back in the proper places after installation as the "Easy Transfer" software did it for me. Running the 150+ updates after installation was a bit glitchy and time consuming -- The system balked at running all of the updates together so I had to run the updates a few at a time between restarts and also had to run a system restore once when one of the updates didn't work the first time and wouldn't let Windows 7 start. Reinstalling the other programs was for the most part just like installing them the first time -- time consuming but no real difficulty and with the data files previously backed-up no information was lost. Overall it took most of weekend, on and off, but it installed and is working fine.

Best operating system Microsoft has ever released
I currently use Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit on my personal PC, but we use Windows 7 on many other PC's in our home both 32 and 64 bit. I do like Windows 8 (a little faster than 7) but overall I think I like 7 the best. Maybe a year from now it will be Windows 8. This product works and installed flawlessly. You will have to do a custom install if you are upgrading from XP though.
