Ok but quickly repetitive with a lackluster story
This is my first foray into the Metal Gear series, so I cannot say how this game compares to its previous games. I decided to give this game a try after seeing the Definitive edition for less than 20 bucks. In some respects, this game reminds me of a couple Sniper games I have played. With that being said, I am less familiar with the lore and background story of the game with Mother Base and all that.
The story and its missions seem a bit convoluted to me. The story could definitely be better in that regard. The stealth missions are challenging, but the different side mission and collectables seem like filler and get repetitive fairly quickly.
I personally dont like a game that tells the bulk of its story through collectable tapes that you have to sit for minutes at a time to listen to.
Graphically the game is ok, although starting to show its age for a 5 plus year old game. The game controls feel a bit clunky and dated to me as well.
The game does give you freedom on how you tackle your mission which is fun. The world seems a bit empty and lifeless though and most outpost feel the same. Some environment glitches are a bit irritating at times as well.
With that being said, I really didnt find this series anything special or different than some other similar games that I have played. It is ok for under 20 bucks, but not something that will make me go back and play the other games in this series.
