Great Purchase

garbage

    Excellent & Affordable
    I never used McAfee until I was given a new laptop recently and after the trial month ran out I decided to use McAfee to continue coverage. It was around $20 and covers 3 PC's. FedEx delivered it today, it's a registration key on a card with a quickstart guide. The entire process took a few minutes and it works great. Seeing it covers 3 devices I might just use it on my desktop when Norton runs out in a month too.

    It seeme to be fine. BUT when I installed it I got a message that there was a problem and I had to call their 800 number. So I did. That was a mistake. I got an error message to call to fix the error. He took control of my computer and ran some test, looking for some code. The rep in India wanted to upsell me a security program for $249 but after talking to me with me refusing to do so, he said I could get five years for $149. I told him it was rediculous and I would NOT do that. He said the program could crash and they would not fix it. I hung up on him after saying NO for the 10th time. I think he planted the code in it so he could sell me the 5 years. I found the 800 number for McAfee online and called them direct. I explained the situation and said I would not buy it. She said she would help me and controlled my computer and installed it and it has been working fine for both computers.

    Download and install was as expected
    This Win 7 pc, dual intel processor 3GHz with 4 GB memory somehow got infected with malware over the internet. McAfee was used to scan the whole hard disk - now running without interference from the malware but Win 7 does occasionally hang up and is still noticeably slower than it was before the infection.

    Works okay, just has scan running most of the time. Thinking of replacing with another product. Tried to load on my desktop and keeps getting errors. I admit that I have an older desktop with Windows XP.

    Processor Intensive but Good Protection
    When a scan is running, McAfee takes up to 75% of the processor activity. This will make your machine run very slowly during the scan. However, the software is also quite effective and updates with protection every night.

    Not sure about McAfee 2015
    In the past I have used Norton Antivirus but decided to make a change to McAfee. I don't like the scanning process or the fact that I keep getting request to purchase more coverage.
