Walnut Oil -- First Try
I'm super pleased with this walnut oil! I had never tried walnut oil before, and I requested it because I assumed it would have lots of healthy fats –- it does indeed!
When opening, I suggest wrapping a paper towel around the plastic pull tab that is just under the lid – otherwise, you might get a bit of oil on you or your clothes.
The oil smells great! Nutty and warm, which just makes you want to dig in. The packaging suggests you store it in the refrigerator, to maintain maximum freshness (the container I received says it is best by March 2023). My husband and I made a dipping oil with Za'atar seasoning -- the flavor was mild, enjoyable and refreshing. The package says the oil has a bold flavor, but I don't think it is particularly bold -- I was afraid the "roasted" flavor might take over, but this wasn't the case at all.
I noticed the package suggests using walnut oil in homemade salad dressings. I've made salad dressings before with olive oil, and I was always disappointed by the fact that the olive oil solidifies in the refrigerator. Much to my delight, it appears this walnut oil DOES NOT SOLIDIFY when refrigerated! This means salad dressings galore, without having to microwave the dressing before each use. Hurray!

Like olive oil
I thought this oil was made from walnut nucleus but it seems it has been squeezed from the green walnut shells. It smells and tastes like an usual olive oil, so I havent seens any difference between this oil and olive oil.

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser02/01/2022Good Flavor and QualityThis oil has a good flavor it is perfect to use as a substitute for vegetable oil in baked goods recipes like cakes, cookies and brownies. It is also healthier than vegetable oil and its Non GMO. I have tried the sunflower coconut oil in this same brand and it is one of my favorites. I use as a fry oil and to make a CBD oil for my dog. You can definitely tell this brand is a high quality brand.Tpax

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/09/2022Amazing aromaThe smell when you open the can of walnut oil smells so good and definitely roasted. I used this in my crunchy granola to give it an extra nutty boost and to add some Omega 3. While it baked the house was really fragrant it smelt amazing an now eating my baked granola it tastes nutty, slightly roasted, and it seems like I have more nuts in my granola than I actually do. So this added and boosted the taste of my baked granola I definitely recommend this to people who love similar tastes and to be able to add healthy fat is a plus.Leen

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/11/2021Nice tasteThe roasted walnut oil cooks really well with different foods and has a decent smoke point. It has a light taste so it blends well. I have used it to saute vegetables and cook meat over the stove. Because of the size of the can id never use it for baking. It is worth trying but I woildnt go out of my way to purchase it.Kaylasheilyn

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/03/2021Tastes amazing.I was a bit worried I wouldn't know how to use this oil right because I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to the kitchen, but I am a good cook. So thought I'd give the La Tourangelle Roster walnut oil a try. I love that its California grown, no GMO, and a great source of Omega-3. I'm branching out and trying to cook more homemade meals and healthier meals. We don't eat out but I do buy more frozen mels then I'd like. So after cooking a few different meals using this Walnut oil I'm surprised how much I love the flavor. It ads such a nice nutty flavor to my veggies and potatoes when I roast them. I'm still finding new ways to use this but so far its a nice switch from olive oils.Ladybug3186

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/01/2021Great for cooking with flairI love Walnut oil and the richness it brings to salad dressings and sauces. I appreciate that this brand uses tin, which is so much better than a plastic bottle. This is a lot of oil, and I probably won't be able to use it all before it goes rancid, but the oil itself is great!Katesy

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/01/2021TastyWe use this oil for making popcorn. It is very tasty, almost buttery in flavor. I don't like that it needs to be refrigerated after opening but fun to have on hand.LizzyB

It great as a finishing oil over pasta or salads or even for baking in nutty desserts. Overall I highly recommend La Tourangelle's Roasted Walnut oil for its rich, superb nutty flavor!Bri
