Warning! Doesn't work with new iMac M1
This worked fine with my old iMac, but it is useless with the new iMac M1. Will not work at all. Not sure if this is a software, firmware problem or what, but if you have the new iMac, don't buy it

    Great replacement DVD writer
    This DVD burner is better and faster than the one I was using on my laptop. I had to replace my laptop drive because it broke. I also like LG products. This drive is very fast and more reliable than the one built into the laptop. Also I don't have to use the included software. I've been using better software for years and prefer it because the included software is very limited and slow when verifying the backup. The price was very reasonable and the shipping was very fast compared to my usual place to order from. Everything I have ordered from Walmart has very fast and reliable delivery.

    Great price!. Easy to use. Compatible with both Mac and PC. Connects to TV - can be used as DVD player. Compact, elegant looking, light-weight. Does not require separate power, just does everything via USB. Plays everything so far. I would recommend.

    No problems with the unit. My wireless mouse decided to die at the same moment but I don't think that it was a coincidence. Replaced the battery in the mouse and everything worked fine.

    IT WORKS GREAT!
    I bought this after discovering after a period of non-use that the DVD drive in my laptop had died... discovered when I bought some new software and attempted to install. This cost far less than the replacement internal laptop DVD would have cost. Far less. So, today I got it, plugged into a quality USB hub (see other review on it) and it worked right out of the box. No software to install (tho a disk is provided - probably bloatware). Using Windows 8 on my laptop, it was instantly recognized when I plugged it in. Should to the same for Windows 10 and probably 7 too. When installing the software from it, I could not discern any functional lag time from when the installer had to read the drive, verses indicated progress as it was installing the software. Among the most demanding tasks an optical file has to do when loading large software files. Video was not tried (the most demanding), but I am confident that it will do well. The supplied interface cord is a bit short, only about 8" long, but a USB extension cable can fix that. Say, like when one wants to lay on the couch to watch a movie and have the drive on the floor beside of them. It is a very compact device. About 0.4 inches thick and footprint of just over a round DVD in a square box that would fit a round disc. I am only knocking it a star as to overall rating it is, indeed, noticeably louder when driving its motors to spin up the DVD to proper speed to read data (probably no differently than when writing). Not terribly loud, but noticeable. On the other hand, when resting - not being called up to read data - quiet too. If this holds up as to build, I would certainly buy again.

    This work better then expected
    At first wasn't sure if this device. Was going to work I wanted to see if I can take part of a video form a high school DVD and copy it on to my laptop so I can have the video there just in case The DVD got scratch ,etc And it work great. It just took a hassle setting it up the drive but it was worth it.
