Frustrated & Disappointed
This set was high on my wish list. I was super excited to finally gets this set to build. Things turned frustrating when I had to disassemble the console because the mechanism used to lock the game in place is inoperable and I have to push it down multiple times in order for it to stay in place and then I have to press a couple more times to get it to pop back up. There is a lot of friction on that whole mechanism. I have reviewed the build multiple times but the mechanism lacks any functionality when putting the game in.

    Two Amazing Set in One!
This was the very first set I had gotten in years. Almost two decades to be exact. I never had a chance to really get into Lego as a kid. Now being older, I can afford these myself and put together on my own time. Thank you Lego for thinking of us older Lego fans! I've been keeping an eye out for additional adult sets about as complex and eye-catching as this one. This one here I had actually gotten as a gift, and it was an excellent one too! While I didn't come around until the mid-90's and get serious into gaming until the early to mid-2000's, I still grew to appreciate retro consoles as I grew older. The NES is way up there on my list. A very fun machine with so many titles worth playing. This set here is basically two sets in one. Each more fun to build than the other. Both have a lot of variety and mechanical parts to build to keep things interesting. The TV set and NES cartridge holder both worked flawlessly. Love how the controller plugs into the NES and is the same size as the original NES controller when putting the two side by side. I'd love to show a comparison photo, but with the 5 photo limit, I'd rather focus on the product itself. Overall, an excellent build with essentially two builds in one! Highly recommended for any retro gaming fan! Would love to see similar console sets for other retro consoles. SEGA Genesis or Sony PlayStation 1 anybody? While doubtful, it'd be interesting to see those in Lego form.

    Great product with small issue
I would really like to give 5 stars, but there is issue with cartridge mechanism. Lego claims they tested it, but users still have issues, including me. Maybe there is some factor like temperature or something like that which causes problem outside tested conditions. One important part is orientation of T shape axle and pin connector part - as someone mentioned, hollow part next to axle connection must be towards front. But that wasn't enough for smooth operation. I ended up reassembling with few parts switched to different position and achieved smooth operation: I attached white three holes beam, originally in right hinge, to T shape part and put yellow technic brick from cartridge holder to hindge instead of beam. Only two extra pins are needed (one for connecting beam to T part, other to replace long pin when removing yellow technic brick), which are included in package as extras. I don't know what is better, TV or NES, I'm truly amazed, but still couldn't give 5 stars because I think that this kind of issue is unacceptable in this price range. But still would highly recommend, especially with this easy fix available (especially when you know for it before building, rebuild with a minimal disassembling is possible, but hard and requires some skill). Great set.

Nostalgia all wrapped in a lego set
I wasn't expecting a huge box and contemplated the price and purchase but so glad I ended up buying this for my 12 yr old son. Such a fun bit if my own childhood nostalgia to build with my son who recently discovered super mario bros. The lego set, Once built and in full display, is a great size. I like that my son can use his super mario digit figure from another playset to get the sound working too. Simply amazing!!!

    Awesome Set / Mechanism Issue
I had seen YouTube videos of the mechanism not working for so many. Many people even had their own mods. I was building the TV and my fiancé the NES. I told her that as soon as she finished building the mechanism we had to test it out. Well the mechanism was not working at all for 1hr we tried looking to see if she did something wrong in the build but everything was 100% correct as the instructions. Well that's the thing. They should update the instruction manual on page 42 step 49 of the NES. If you notice carefully piece 6331441 at the bottom cross area one side is hollow and one side is flat. Someone recommended on YouTube to flip that piece, and that's when I notice the two sides are different. Center of Mass played a big role here. The way page 42 has it the hollow part would be facing the front of the NES. That will cause the mechanism to not work at all (at least in our case we have 100% failure with this orientation. We rotate the gray Cross Block 6331441 so the flat surface is facing the front of the mechanism. That solved the problem for us and we now have 100% success rate so far. See picture. Other than that this set is awesome, I am half way done with the build, I'll continue in 2 days from now. I never had Lego sets growing up and now at 28 my fiancé and I decided to start buying Lego sets this year and start building them together. I had only build two Legos sets before 2021, I was 25 when I got my first Lego set ever lol I grew up with the super Nintendo but it's still the same nostalgic feeling. Thank you Lego for this set seriously!!!

    Lots of fun
I ordered this back in January, and finally got it after a month of waiting. This set is fun - I like that there's two separate booklets for TV and the console. Convenient for two memebers to build it at the same time. There's lots of details in this model. eg. The TV knob, antenna, cartidge .... The only complaint I have is the TVstand. I think lots of people already pointed out. I wished the TV can be more secured on the TV stand. I have an old NES. I will need to find a display case big enough to put my real NES along with the Lego NES together.

    Look at options before purchase.
I select 3 star due to the lack of pieces that were not in the box. It did not come with the antenna and also had a missing lego to the tv.

    Nintendo Fun
First I would like to say this is a amazing replicated kit I'm build this set at my job and when my coworkers see the Nintendo console they think it's the real deal until I tell them it's a Lego..There pretty amazed.. I grew up playing all the game systems and this is one reason why I bought the set. I love all the details that went into making the console even being able to insert the Cartridge and locking it down. The only downfall to that I would say is for my console the locking mechanism doesn't slide all the way to allow the tray to unlock so I have to tilt the console forward while holding down the game cartride to release the mechanism that's why I only gave it a 9 rating instead of a 10.. But it's not like I will be inserting and removing the cartridge all the time. This is a fun set to build and brings back some memories..

    Nostalgia
Amazing time building this beauty! Didn't realize the number of bags, but one of the rare sets where you can build one piece while someone else builds the other since it comes with one book for the NES and one for the TV. Only thing that disappointed me at the end was the top 6 squares of the NES which are a flat grey unlike the rest of the system which has the shine to it. Wish LEGO would've either made it all flat or all shiny grey. Feel like it detracts from the beauty. I had the same feeling with the old school bat mobile and the lack of consistency across the whole item in terms of the shine being even across the entire piece. Still an amazing build, but I feel that would've sealed the deal!!
