Hit with 10-year-old
This was a hit with my 10-year-old daughter. She loves Legos but is very "girly", if you will, in that she loves pink, sparkly, unicorns, etc. Lego Friends is one of her favorite toys. She built this set 100 percent on her own, without any help. She did receive some encouragement when she was getting frustrated finding small pieces and was convinced they were missing, however. This set had it's ups and downs for her, she states the following likes and dislikes: What she liked: Easy to maneuver the pieces how you want them She gets to put the stickers on herself Likes using her imagination Worth it to build a whole car and set What she didn't like: The lego figures don't bend in half at the legs like regular lego mini figs so they can't sit. A lot of small pieces are included in this set to put together but you get two large bags in the box so they were difficult to find while she was building. She would have liked them to be better organized to save some frustration of searching. The very small pieces can also get lost while building As a 30-something mom, I liked: The idea of being a weather woman or news reporter is uncommon so holds interest a little longer. I feel it encourages interest in science if you bring it up, how about environmental reporting? Was there an oil spill? Whats the weather like? Reporting on animals going extinct? Builds dexterity, hand-eye coordination Good quiet activity they can do on their own if they are old enough so perfect for a rainy day or you need a quiet activity This set was affordable, but the brand as a whole can get quite spicy in price very quickly.

i think kids would like it
Let me just start by saying there is a lot of little pieces to loose, every time I turned around I could hear pieces hitting the floor so I have to find them which was a real pain, but I got this for my granddaughter who is 7 years old and very smart so except for falling parts and very little help did most of it herself,it comes with 2 booklets for step by step picture on how to put together. Comes with 5 bags of parts all separated for each section of the instructions booklet which was good because it was easier then pouring all the parts in a pile they trying to find very little pieces in one big pile of parts. The van has a few moving parts the one side opens up so they can play inside, the roof opens and there it a satellite on the roof that turns the van wheels move smoothly. Comes with 2 little people a cameraman and a news woman, he holds a camera and she holds a microphone they both have headphone which fall off really easy, while it was fun putting together I'm not sure there's much more for a kid to do with it. I would say go ahead and buy if all you want to do is put it together not much more to do with it, we put it together in about 2 hours and it's not very big I'm estimating 6 or 7 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide so didn't take to long. I think they gave a few extra parts as in the picture or else we didn't get them all put in, lol

    ANOTHER GREAT LEGO SET!!!!
I just received the Lego Friends Heartlake News Van and my five year old daughter LOVES it! We have gotten a bunch of these sets and have not been disappointed yet! The little accessories are just awesome! It comes with 2 Lego "people," a news desk and news van. The news van has a little makeup area that even comes with a lipstick, brush, small chair and a "vanity." This kit also comes with a camera, cake, microphone, headphones and so much more! I could go on and on. The reason I'm listing everything it comes with is because I like to know what is inside the box. I just love the fact that Lego is just so creative! The instructions are very easy to follow especially with their step by step booklets. It took my 5 year old daughter about thirty minutes to put this together all by herself. I also love the fact that all these sets go together to make one big town. The Lego toys used to all be marketed towards boys and now they have the Lego Friends sets that are geared more towards girls but boys could play with them too. My daughter loves that there are pink and purple and sparkly Legos these days, as do I. I will DEFINITELY be buying more of these Lego Friends sets! Can't wait!

    Great Legos for the girls.
Great choice in Lego for the girls. The two packages of pieces were a bit overwhelming at first but the girls loved them and had this all assembled in no time. Allot of small pieces to this so need to keep them all together but thats about true for any of these Lego sets. Colors are great as are the instructions. Kids needed little help with this one. The 6-12 age is perfect. Looking forward to getting more of the Heartlake City series for Christmas. Hours of fun and sharing to keep us busy.

    Awesome Girls Lego News Van
My girls love this Lego set. They have so much fun playing with this. It is so cute. It is the Lego Friends Heartlake News Van. It comes with a news van, little dolls names Emma and Andrew, camera, news desk, map and a cake. It comes with detailed instructions. The van opens up to a lot of stuff on the inside like a computer and makeup station. It has a realistic looking satellite on top of the van. The wheels really turn. The news crew is doing a news story of a large cake. The cake is very pretty. The news man has a news camera and headphones. The news desk has a microphone, notes, pen and flowers on it. The desk also comes with a chair. The screen has a map on one side and a picture of the cake on the other side. The kit has pretty pink and blue colors. It is very detailed. It has very small parts. It has 278 pieces. It is for children 6 through 12. It took my daughter about 1 1/2 hours to put it together. I think it is a great value. This would make a great present! Let the imaginations flow!

    Awesome Lego set for girls!!!
My daughter is 12 and loves the LEGO Friends Heartlake News Van. The box states that it is for ages 6-12 years old, but even I enjoyed the creativeness of this set. It comes with two adorable mini figures named Andrew and Emma. Andrew is the camera man (so cute with the little camera) and Emma is the news anchor. There is a total of 278 Lego pieces in the box and an instruction manual that is easy enough for 6 year olds to understand. It took my daughter about 30 minutes to completely assemble the set. The set once assembled has the news van, the news anchor desk with chair, Lego cake, a news wall which can also attach to the back of the van, and a studio spot light. Inside the Lego van is a place to put the mini lipstick, microphone, hairbrush, and there is a laptop computer desk. The top of the van has the satellite dish; the side of the van displays the logos Heartlake News, as well as the top of the van. The front of the van allows each Andrew and Emma to have a place to sit at either the drivers or passengers seat. The van once assembled stays together well. I would completely recommend this set for any girl who is into building with Legos. My daughter does not play with the sets anymore; she builds them and displays them on a shelf in her room. However, I can see where younger girls would have loads of fun playing with this set. I love the idea of “girl” Legos sets which were not around when I was growing up. The best thing about Legos is that they are toys that never go out of style; one can never have too many Lego creations.

    Fun Mommy and Me project
When my daughter and I looked at the box, we thought it would be fairly easy to build this Lego set. However, once we got involved in building this, we quickly discovered this was not an easy task for us. It took cooperation, listening skills, patience and a lot of teamwork. The instruction booklets were very easy to follow for the most part. There were no reading skills necessary to complete construction of this Lego set. The pieces are better suited for a child's hands as opposed to an adult's hands, especially the smaller pieces. The bright colors were a nice surprise. It was somewhat girly, but not overly girly. I would recommend keeping a few zipper baggies on hand to hold the pieces when not in use. My daughter absolutely loved the way her finished product looked. A great project for a parent to work on with their child and provide some quality "mommy and me" time.

    Lego Friends Heartlake News Van
(Personal note: I was a bit intimidated when I first opened the box. It had two large bags and two smaller bags inside the larger bags and stickers! I personally have never been very good at putting on stickers properly. I am still used to the older legos that had them already printed on the faces.) This set has 278 pieces but there were extra pieces. It came together very smoothly without troubles and the two instruction books were very well presented. The pieces were high quality and there were no deformities. Everything fit properly. There should be no need to fore any pieces together. They hold their connections well. It has two Lego people: Emma the newscaster and Andrew the camera man. Assembled according to the instructions this set contains: a studio light on a tall pole, it has a screen that has a map on one side and what looks to be a picture of a giant cake on the other side. the giant cake itself, a news desk, and of course the van! The van itself is easily modifiable and you can open the door on the side and the roof so you have easy access inside the van. Inside the van has the divers seat and passenger seat, a makeup area and then a computer station. It also has a spiffy radar on top that you can spin around as well. There is an assembled seat that can be switched around inside the van or it can be used outside with the desk. It took about 25-30 minutes to assemble. Mostly because I kept the pieces in the bags and foraged for the pieces. It's very stylish fun and I highly recommend this for anyone. Adults and kids alike! I'm really grateful for the extra parts too. You can't ever have too many Legos!

    Cute lego kit!
I bought many many lego friends kits over the last few years. This one says it's for ages 6 years old to 12 years old. 278 pieces. The people it comes with is Emma and Andrew. It's the mini specialized lego pieces she loves the most. Lap top, lip stick, microphone, hair brush, a lego cake, a van, lego news desk, lego chair, light stand, camera... My daughter will sit down for hours and hours and hours and play with her lego friend kits. I take pictures of her creations and submit them to the free lego magazine I signed up for at lego.com. Helps with her patience, creativity, gives her a crafty project to do. Bright colors. Fun designs. She got so excited when I gave her this kit. Each time a new lego friends kit comes out, she begs for it. Saves up her allowance, and extra cash she earns to pick out more. I love how each kit can go with other kits. When we walk down the lego isle at the store, she realizes that she could pick out boy lego's AND girl lego's but will automatically want the girl lego kits. The bright colors, added mini pieces, interchangeable people pieces, really make the friends lego's appealing I think. The bags are clearly marked and the instructions are easy enough to follow. Like a 3d puzzle but with plastic lego pieces that won't break. :-) I got her larger more expensive kits in the past and she said she felt overwhelmed. She likes the smaller kits much better then the larger more expensive ones. For the amount of hours my daughter has spent playing this these kits, the price is more then worth it...

We bought it as a gift, who is in return buying the same gift for our child ha! Both are advid lego builders, this looks like fun however I'm hoping they change the feel up from the vans and campers all being very similar! Still looks to be fun and have lots of play value to it !
