Gets up stains the other brand left for years
We have dogs and cats, mix of ages and hair lengths and of course love all the crazy little critters. A couple years ago our senior dog had several accidents on the carpet and we used the fancy B word cleaner that we purchased for about 4x the price of this one. It seemed to work on the worst of the soil but never pulled up the WET when trying to dry the carpet after cleaning. The result was a stain that reappeared on the wet spot and a foul smell that we just couldn't get rid of no matter what we tried. Frustrated and many sinus problems later we decided to try this Hoover compact cleaner. We've only had it a week but it's removed the old stains and smells. Before getting carried away, I did 3 spots that were really bad and they have not returned...with the old cleaner the spots kept coming up through the carpet again and again. After using the Hoover, smell is still as fresh as when I cleaned it a few days ago. To get it really clean, I will need to take my time and clean the carpet in the whole room not just my little test spots. I wasn't really sure it was going to work as well as it did. I did try the sample carpet shampoo from Hoover and another brand I had. They both removed the same amount of stains and dirt but I did like the scent that the Hoover one left.

Not worth it.
Works well for what it's worth, cleans nicely and has decent Suction to suck up the water / chemicals. Now the cons! This thing is a nightmare to clean! No easy way to clean unless you dismantle 40% of the bottom including where the drive belt is at. So if you are in a hurry and have no time to disassemble 40% then it will have to sit dirty until you have time. I wouldn't recommend this just do to that design flaw.

    Very disappointed
    I have used this twice before this happened. The only carpet I have is in two small bedrooms. While using it I started smelling burned plastic & when I turned it over saw that it was shredded somehow. I don't even have high pile carpet!!

    Never will buy a hoover again
    I have always bought hoover products, but never again this is the 2nd one of these carpet cleaners, I have had in the last couple of months the latest one being purchased on 10/2/21 and it has gave out again and it has ruined my new area rug. It started making a really loud noise and then black stuff came out and smeared on the rug. So not happy with this! I bought it because it was compact an would be easy to clean up my pets mess if the were to have an accident or if the rug/carpets started to look a little dirty. I should have learned my less after the first one did the same thing but I figured I'd give them one more try but nope here we are stuck with half my rug clean and the other half dirty and black streaks across it and don't have the extra funds to buy a different brand right here at Christmas.

    After using 4 times it doesn't work
    I bought the Hoover Dash Power Pet shampooer thinking it would last longer than 4 uses. We have 3 young children under the age of 5 and 2 cats and a tortoise that crawls on our floors so I thought this would be great. When the machine did work it did a great job but when I plugged it in today it would not turn on.

    Motor stopped after 10 months!
    I bought this January 8th, 2021. I have 2 pups, one not house broken yet, and a cream colored rug, so this is a NECESSITY. All of a sudden it started burning. Maybe it was the belt? I replaced that, and cleaned it out. STILL smoking, and rubber smell! Now it's making crazy noises, and the power button is hard to push down! I suspect its a fire hazard now. What a mess! This isn't good. I would not buy this one again because of the short life span it has. I see others are having the exact same problem I'm having. I would order an upgraded one with some sort of insurance, if I bought another.

    Burnt smell then stopped.
    I have this steamer for less than a week and only used it twice and it stopped working, first had a burnt smell then left black spots on my carpet. Waste of money.

    Broke after little use
    My machine starter to make a loud noise and smoking. I vacuum before using my basic vacuum. Using the machine the Spin brush still turns and suction still works but turned off when a cloud of smoke came from the bottom of the machine. Now it does not turn on at all. I assume the motor blew. Very disappointed since I only used a handful of times.

    I will not buy this product again
    Used two times in my small apartment just got ready to use it again turn it on and there was an awful sound. Both previous times I cleaned it very well before putting it away so I'm unsure what would cause it to break just sitting in the basement. This is actually my second one and I thought the first one lasted a little longer and I figured it just quit working because it wasn't cleaned properly before putting away but apparently that wasn't the case
