Good idea but it does not deliver
This was a great idea but it ends there. I love to have a fresh cup of coffee each time and didn't want to waste money on the kcups any longer and wanted to use ground, or grind my own beans so I bought this coffee maker. The coffee's flow never totally stops. It continues spitting for several minutes and if you remove your mug, it goes everywhere. The supposed catch tray does not work, the coffee splatters when it hits it and I end up cleaning my floor, daily. I tried to buy the small filters but this coffee maker's "scoop" that holds the coffee has a lip on it so the round filter doesn't fit right. Even if you work with it trying to get a good fit, the coffee grounds run all up around the filter and makes a mess anyway. (see pics) This maker did eliminate the plastic taste from the makers that use plastic parts, like the kcup type machines and parts, however, you can't get over this maker spitting coffee for a long time after the brew and the mess. I have to dump the coffee grounds and then take the coffee maker's internal (but removable) filter and the scoop, to the sink to wash it out, each and every time you want a new cup because the parts are just so messy with wet grounds all over it. I don't really want those in my coffee so I have no choice.

    Great Product
This single scoop coffee maker is exactly what I expected. It's small enough to fit perfectly in my kitchen, looks beautiful and makes delicious tasting coffee with no fuss. I recommend this product.

    Mission Accomplished
Typically purchase Hamilton Beach over last 12-15 yrs. The Scoop caught my attention to accommodate single servings and avoid expensive, un-environmental K-cups. Pluses: quality/price, appearance, small footprint, bold/regular strength settings, 2-3 minute brew times, consistent flavor, serves hot coffee, flip-up base for cups vs mugs. Minuses: (Displayed) travel mug not included, quick but messy cleanup, prefer 16 oz vs max 14 oz delivery, “bold” setting a bit disappointing. Suggestions/work-arounds - while Hamilton Beach product engineers usually get it right, some additional tweaks achieved my desired “richer” flavor and improved cleanup. (1) filter basket holds 2-3 tbsp's yet I desire 3 tbsps for 14 oz mug rather than using the “bold” setting. Since adding more fresh ground coffee to filter basket causes overflow of wet grounds and messy cleanup, by simply adding an inexpensive 3-1/2” (Melita) flat, circular paper filter ABOVE the freshly ground coffee seems to keep wet grounds from splashing upward onto the basket closure lid and also the top's essential silicone sealing ring. (2) the water reservoir is designed to hold a max of 14 oz's - less than my favorite 16 oz travel mug. So, by placing a piece of tape outside over the water overflow outlet, I easily resolved this yet maintained a rich coffee flavor. (3) a very handy supply of the flat round 3-1/2” filters can be neatly placed on the unit's “Scoop hook” without distracting from overall appearance. Lastly, several reviews elude to messy leaks and low coffee brew temps. I simply have not seen any such issues so feel with proper care and understanding, most will fall in love with The Scoop. Best!

    Best purchase yet!
What a great coffee maker! Easy to use, easy to clean and no more wasted coffee because you make one cup at a time. I grind my beans per use and am rewarded with a perfectly brewed coffee in only minutes. Cheaper than a Keurig and all those expensive pods. Better for the environment, no pods and no need for filters. Quick to clean. Highly recommend this! Use bold setting for a rich cup

What a great simple single serve coffee maker
My first cup of coffee was flavorful and smooth. I love the idea that this machine doesn't fill the landfill with pods or other single use items. Cleanup is easy.

Don't buy if you want a good cup of joe.
No different from any other quick coffee brewing. I prefer perked pot of coffee, more flavor. I will keep this as a quick cup, its slightly better than instant, but not my preference.

    This coffee snob recommnds
I am a coffee snob, and I cannot recommend this product enough. I own a lot of coffee makers, ranging including a KitchenAid, multiple French presses, Aeropresses, and electric Mokka pots. I am not a fan of K-cups due to the taste (lack) and waste. What I like about this machine is that you can change your coffee selection anytime you want. After cleaning the machine I measured the output (before and after), along with the coffee grounds. It matches the "Starbucks" standard of 2 T of coffee for each 6 oz of water. After brewing the coffee, cleanup was easy, Just knock the grounds out and give the pieces a quick rinse. Another thing I really liked about the machine was that you didn't have to use a glass carafe, which I usually end up breaking. And I can choose the cup I use. I don't understand some of the reviews that gripe about not travel mug provided, although it specifically says it is not. Those commenting on splattering? I don't get that either because the adjustable and the instructions say to position the mug closest to the spigot, which drips. There is only a single hole and there's no pressure like espresso makers. Other complaints that some have made is the different output from the input, but they didn't realize that some water would remain in the grounds? Can't blame the machine for this. On negative I have here, and it's not a complaint: I wish I could order a spare scoop on the occasions I have a friend over who wants a different brew. It takes seconds to clean the used scoop, but it would just be a "nice to have". I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet, including the manufacturer's site. I haven't used a paper filter yet either. Seems you need to make a modification to a standard. As is there are 2 filters.

It looks really nice. It is compact so it can fit on crowded countertops. Makes coffee quickly. The coffee tastes really good. It is easy cleanup. No landfill waste. Would definitely buy again. Really like it.

    I like this.
I like to just make a cup of coffee. This is perfect for that. I use 1 coffee scoop of coffee which is 2 tablespoons. I use 12 oz. of water. That is how I love my coffee. The directions suggest for coffee for 8 oz of water but I don't like it that strong. I have a big coffee cup which is too tall for the cup holder shelf so I put a Pirex glass measuring cut to catch the coffee which fits perfect. I then pour the coffee into my coffee cup. The coffee tasted great. I am very happy with this coffee machine. You can buy a tall coffee mug to fit it too.
