Reliable Value
I bought this laptop 04/2016 after doing a lot of price research to get the best reliable computer for my money. I have been a Toshiba fan for eons, mostly because my 2008 Toshiba Laptop just recently became obsolete. I'm not against other brands, there-fore I shopped around thoroughly, between Best Buy sales, Office Max, Staple, Target, Frys and Walmart; this HP Laptop was the best choice for under $500. It has a decent 5th Generation Intel i5 5200 Processor; the start up process is slower than I expected. Once I uninstalled all the added applications it became 99% faster. The screen is bright when adjusted to your eye level, like any screen should be. The cover is fingerprint resistant which is a nice feature. It stays very cool. It hardly gets warm at all. It does have Windows 10. Sound is clear quality and can get very loud. Keyboard response is good. There is not back light for the keys which I don't like, but for $399 you can't expect it to have all the bells and whistles. It is not touch screen, which is my personal preference anyhow. 100% charge with the screen light at 50% the battery lasted 6 1/2 hours, with the computer running the entire time. Graphics are good, HDX and HD Video Playback is fast and clear quality picture. The typical Facebook games load quickly. MMO and RPG games play with no glitches. I've managed to do all of my College school work with ease. This computer serves it's purpose and is great for the value.

LAPTOP SPEAKERS FAILED AFTER 2 MONTHS
DISAPPOINTED THAT SPEAKERS FAILED SO SOON. I SENT MY LAPTOP BACK BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY FIXED THEM; HOWEVER, I DO NOT APPRECIATE HAVING TO SPEND $25 + TIME & GAS TO SHIP IT BACK. OTHER THAN THAT THE LAPTOP SEEMED TO WORK FINE. I DIDN'T GET BUFFERING AS MUCH AS WITH AN I3 PROCESSOR, SO FOR ME, AN I5 IS PREFERABLE. I DON'T DO GAMES JUST STREAMING VIDEOS, MOVIES ETC.

    Windows 10 laptop
the laptop is nice looking, windows 10, not so great. Half the programs installed are bloat ware and hard to remove. Not to mention when I bought it, it was $70.00 higher and now you show it for $329.00.

HP Today Stands For 'Happy Person'
This computer will give you the same or similar performance as my Desktop which has an intel Core 4th Gen i3-4160 3.60GHz Dual-Core Processor, 8GB DDR3 SDRAM @1600MHz, intel HD Graphics 4400. This laptop has an intel Core 5th Gen i5-5200U which has been great when it comes to multi-tasking along with 6GB DDR3 SDRAM @1600MHz. The intel HD Graphics 5500 in this machine, considering mobile chips do not perform similarly to Desktop PCs, but this machine shows that it can as mentioned above. Do not except this machine to run the latest games, but you can play games within the past like I don't mind doing. I'll wait until I can afford a stronger machine, in the mean time, some of the games that can run will suit me for now. Great PC for what I want to do with it, powerful, and is worth the price paid for.

    As expected...
I've been a long-time HP consumer (printers, incl) and I'm not disappointed with this purchase. My previous HP was a 17" Pavilion Entertainment laptop with a lot of 'bells & whistles' but after having it from 2009, it recently gave out...still in good condition. So far and technologically speaking (and, I hope it's not too early to tell), it serves my purposes well (i.e. streaming movies, MS Office Professional apps, etc). However, one tiny concern I have is the fact that my warranty (in the HP Support app) only says I have 10 months left when I just purchased this new laptop on the 3rd of this month. I'm trying to sort out with the people at HP because I like accuracy and fairness. Small things, though seeing I have my receipt, etc.

    A good base model
Overall, its well made. And much lighter than models about a year old. However, I do think the screen bezel is a little flimsy. However, I compared Best Buy models in the same price range and found this to be about what to expect. The screen is bright and beautiful! No issues there. Very comfortable to look at. The processor is definitely faster than the i3 processor so don't let a sale person say otherwise. It's worth the price difference. The set up was fairly easy but be prepared to expect things to be a little different than Window XP. And much better than Windows 8. It comes with a 1 TB standard 5400 rpm hard drive. The computer boots up in about two minutes and some seconds. Okay. Throw out the warranty. Now make this average laptop a kick butt performer. Purchase at minimum, a 500 mb Solid State Drive. Have someone install it. I did it myself and it wasn't too easy to do. You will pay about $180 to $200 for the SSD hard drive, plus labor to install it. Well worth it though because now you have a rocket performer. It boots up in about 15 seconds — YES!!!! — 15 seconds. Microsoft Office apps launch in less than 20 seconds. Files copy faster, save faster, email faster. Everything faster. So even for the price of the laptop + a SSD drive and you have a satisfying experience with this well made HP laptop. NOTE: Instore pickup was an issue. Not very organized at the walmart location I selected.

It is a decent computer for the price range
I needed a laptop for production work, but didn't want to spend $1000-@1500 for one. This is a 2.2 Ghz machine that has a "turbo" feature that speeds the processor up to 2.7 Ghz when needed. Whenever I get a new machine, I strip off the extraneous applications I don't need/want and install the applications I need. Is it fast? Well, in comparison with the 3.9 Ghz desktop I had that just died--no, but it is fast enough for audio/video processing I have to do every once in a while. Okay, yes, I kick off the process and go get a cup of coffee, but the laptop still gets the job done. If you want a laptop for gaming, don't spend $450 on a laptop. Get a $1500 one. However, this HP 15-ac143wm works just fine for me.

Laptop LCD screen dims LOW and Normal Off and On
I literally purchased this laptop 16 days ago. I was excited to unpack it and load it up. The loading process took soooo long. First thing I noticed: This laptop has WAY TOO MANY ADVERTISEMENTS!! Like come on!! What is this world coming too!?? Many, many pop ups from third party apps, etc. Second thing I noticed: Laptop Does NOT come with Microphone Port Third thing I noticed: Laptop's LCD screen flickers in and out...not completely, but you can definitely notice the involuntary change in screen lighting Fourth Thing I noticed: Even though it's built w/ a Intel Core i5-5200U Processor, which IS better than an intel celeron processor, the PC runs slow at times...more often then it should in y opinion. Fifth thing I noticed: The touch pad's (mouse) surface is soooooooooooooooo slippery/slick/no feeling of control Do I still own this laptop: Yes Why: B/c I lost track of the return days and lost out of exchanging it for a better one Is the Laptop really that bad? For me, yes, but for you, doesn't have to be. We purchase computers to suit our situation. This PC does not suit my current needs. I hope this helps !
