Rially Greate PC
I owned Dell 5558 5-th generation with i7 processor in country that is not Dell service. It was brand new, just there was installed Ubuntu or something like that. I delete it and install windows 10 and all drivers from Dell web site(I did not install them step by step as Dell customer service advise... my mistake, wanted use pc as soon as possible. But any way all drivers installed well...). So I turn it on first time and started to check all the systems. For information first of all I install AutoCAD, then ArcGIS, then games: WOT, Assassin’s Creed and SOMA. I was surprised.... really... all soft that I installed and games worked and played great. Before this purchase I had experience for Dell laptop use, but this one I like very much. Color, thickness, screen size, brightness, keyboard, touchpad, performance..... I love it all))). What can I say more... I had many laptops premium quality and this one is one of the BEST!!!

TouchPad/Keyboard Problems From Day: ONE
The TouchPad and keyboard have made it impossible to type from day one. The mouse/TouchPad clicks on things and grabs things with no warning. It highlights whole webpages for no reason. It clicks on (grabs) things on the page with no warning or input on my part. I will be typing things such as this review here and it will either keep erasing this whole paragraph or the cursor will suddenly keep jumping back into the middle of the paragraph. While typing this I had to continually keep starting over completely or retype parts. I got the machine with Windows 7. I tried the upgrade to Windows 10 and the problems seem to have gotten approximately 50% better but are still occurring. See the Video link I posted here. I feel that the TouchPad which has no buttons on it and just senses when it THINKS you mean to press what would be a button is just not perfected. The hardware has just not been perfected. I wish there was an old style with actual buttons option. That would take away most of this problem. All Dell laptops currently have this type of mouse. So I will return this and just get a desktop.

    My new computer
I´ve been buying Dells´ computers for years. And I had never been disappointed by my choice. My experience with Inspiron 5558 has been great so far! The hardware is powerful, and the software is very trustful. I strongly recommend all computer costumers buy this device.

    My DELL experience :)
I love my laptop , but : Change the HDD with an SSD , it will change your overall experience. If your laptop is slow , it's because of your HDD ! You need an upgrade for an SSD. I love every aspect of this laptop.. .. but not the screen and the hdd.. The screen is bad , like so bad.. the resolution is small , and the viewing angles are so bad.. I'm having a friend with a MacBook Pro Retina near me and I'm gelous.. But otherwise ? My laptop is now a beast with the SSD upgrade. Just put the HDD instead of the DVD Drive. :) Enjoy your DELL !

    Discrete Video has great performance
I purchased a half dozen of these for use with a specialized CAD package. Yes, Dell thinks I should have purchased Mobile Workstations, but since they cost a lot and weigh more than my car, I went with these. The Nvidia video card makes these fly through 3D simulations, which is exactly why I bought them. The downside is the Intel Speedstep. Even with Speedstep disabled, they are glacially slow at starting up an application. MS Word: 65 seconds, for example. If you open Word sometime later (before shutdown), it pops up in under 3 seconds. The users aren't complaining too much since I warned them in advance. It's just disappointing that a machine equipped with so much go-fast hardware takes so long start industry standard applications.

Its Ok but missing some key quality
I ordered a model i558-2144 model with a core i5 5200u which came with a 5250u CPU installed? I sent it back because Wifi was flaky and kept dropping. My replacement also had the wrong CPU but decided to keep a while to see how Wifi was. It too dropped connections on a whim without able to reconnect without reboot. Very disappointed. Also the surface around keyboard is kind of a rubbery surface, shows oil from hands, prints, looks bad quickly. I got lighted keyboard which was very flexible toward left side typing. Touchpad was actually OK for once screen looked washed out and more typical of a cheaper laptop. I sent the second one back for refund. The wifi issues were a deal breaker and new drivers did not help.

    Having serious touchpad problems
We have had several Dell computers, desktop & laptops, over the past number of years and they have always served us very well. However, the new laptop Inspiron 15 5000 with windows 10 has presented a number of issues. The touchpad is very poor in performance, can not control sensitivity (screen becomes very unstable) and the screen freezes up very often. I have researched this problem and many others complain of this touchpad problems. There does not seem to be a fix for this. I had no problem with Windows 7, but Windows 10 presents many problems, can not get accustomed to it.

    Do Not Buy
I have used Dell computers and laptops for over 15 years. I am very unhappy with this laptop. keyboard voluntarily scrolls, keyboard at times doesn't do anything when keys are hit. I can deal with windows 10, but not on this laptop. I am very unhappy with this product

    Great for everyday use
Purchased with Windows 7 as a second device so I could upgrade to Windows 10 for comparison and testing before I upgrade the Dell laptop that I use everyday. I need to make sure that the VPN and programs I use work properly. Well designed laptop. We have been a Dell customer for a long time and always been very satisfied with both the product and service. The only thing I personally do not like with these laptops is the keyboard. I don't like the keys and I don't like the numeric pad on the right side. Other than that this is an excellent choice for home and students.
