2yr old loves it
My 2 year old would not sleep in her convertible crib bed and with this bed rail she feels safe. She now loves going to sleep in her big girl bed.

Does NOT fit all convertible cribs
The product description for this item is inaccurate in two important ways. One, as lots of other reviewers have noted, it does not fit ALL convertible cribs. It only fits cribs with a metal "box spring"-like base, or a base that's flush with the edge of the bed. We have an Ikea Gulliver crib, which has a lip at the edge to hold the mattress. It doesn't fit at all. Two, "no tools needed" is only true if you have the box spring type base. If you have a solid or slatted base, you're going to need a drill.

Exactly what I was looking for.
My son's crib did not come with a rail. After converting the crib to the toddler bed I qucikly realized he needed one. Those first few nights were rough! Between rolling out of bed and getting out and wandering around crying, we needed to make him feel more secure about the transition. The DEX Baby- Safe Sleeper Convertible Crib Bed Rail provided safety and security. All at a very affordable price! Our nights have been peaceful and our 2 yr. old is well-rested. The product was easy to assemble and attach. Buy this!

    worth every $ spent
Good product. Instructions are a little techie but u can manage it....took me around 25. Mins to assemble...worth the value. Been almost 3 weeks. Working well so far...for people who had put their crib to lowest setting may need to move it up atleast 18 inches higher.so it opens up properly.

    NO solid headboard bed baby.
The DEX baby safe bed rail will not work if your baby bed has solid headboard because there are no openings thru the headboard for the arm of the bed rail to fit thru during installion.

Fits perfectly with Graco Lauren crib
We have a Graco Lauren crib, which does not come with a conversion bed rail. After my daughter kept rolling out of bed in the middle of the night, I bought a similar product in store, but apparently it was for a twin bed and spanned the length of her crib and gave no room to get in and out of the bed. I couldn't find a store that sold the crib sized version so I ordered this one online- it gives just enough space to get in and out.

Perfect for our grand-daughter's toddler bed.
We looked around the internet for a bed rail after removing the rail from her crib. It was a discontinued crib so we could not find an exact match. We were going to go with a more expensive wood rail, but couldn't wait for it to come in since her visit was in 2 days. Also the wood would have not been an exact match. We saw this and bought it that day. It is easy to install, safe, folds down easily to make bed and very safe. Since she only visits occasionally it was the perfect choice for us. Price was great for what we needed. She loved having her big girl bed and can get in out easily. We will be able to get more use out it when she moves to a twin bed too. And we can pass it along to someone else once she has grown out of it since it is good quality and not used everyday. The only reason we did not give it and Excellent review is because it is not pretty, if that is what you are looking for in an everyday bedroom. Great product for the price and our needs!

    Perfect for convertible crib
Works perfect. Doesn't budget when my 2 year old rolls over and leans on it in her sleep. It is pretty long though so I did not put it in the middle like the picture. I moved it all the way to one end so it gives her space to get out and climb on by herself. It was easy to put together. It was a little difficult to put one of the screws on tightly but not a big deal.

    Good rail for convertible crib
My convertible crib didn't come with a built-in rail for the day-bed configuration, so I went hunting for something to keep my son from falling out. Other than the pricier wooden kind, this was the only one I could find, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The instructions & assembly were pretty straightforward, and I had no trouble putting the rail together. Attaching it to the crib was just as easy, as well as sturdy. The fold-down feature is smooth and much easier than the double rails from Summer Infant that are on my daughter's bed. I've been very happy with this rail, with my only "complaint" being that it isn't the nicest-looking thing, but it does the job. Let me specifically address some of the points from the other reviews on here. Some said that the rail didn't fold all the way down for them, but was at an angle like a ramp, tempting the kid to climb on it. I don't have this problem at all - when I fold it down for changing sheets, it hangs straight up and down and cannot be climbed on. However, I think this may be because the lowest mattress setting on my crib seems higher than others I've seen. Those that say this goes on an angle probably don't have enough room between the mattress and the floor for it possibly to hang straight down. That's not really a knock on the rail, it's just the way it works with the mattress so low. Others said that the silver "buttons" that lock the rail legs into place are facing up underneath the mattress, so that if your kid jumps hard enough on the bed, it can depress them and the legs can come apart. This is another issue that I do not have - the silver buttons on my rail are facing to the side. Perhaps DEX became aware of this problem and made an improvement since this item first came out. (I purchased mine in the fall of 2012.) There was also one review that noted this rail did not work with their Jardine Olympia crib. This is the model crib I have and it DOES work. The only thing is that there is a wooden piece that matches the crib which is designed to go across the front to hold the mattress in place and give the bed a finished look. Because this piece comes halfway up the side of the mattress, I think you'd be hardpressed to find any sort of rail that would work with it. The solution is to simply leave this wooden piece off. Again, it makes the bed not as nice-looking, but it works just fine and in my eyes it beats having my son fall out of bed every night. By leaving this piece off, the bedrail is what holds the mattress in place, but since the bedrail has to be fit quite snug anyway, it works just fine. And finally, some said the mattress could not be in the lowest position to use this rail. This may be related to the problem of the rail forming a ramp when folded down, or it could be that the rail somehow prevented using the lowest setting. This was again something I did not encounter at all. I did have to tilt the leg anchors to get them around the edge of the chainlink mattress support because of where the wooden slat for the back of the crib is, but it was not difficult and worked just fine - with the anchors in place, there is plenty of space between them and the wooden slat, so there's no damage or issue with fitting them on. Again, I am quite satisfied with this rail, I just wish it looked a little nicer when installed, but I can't complain in finding something that works for half the price of the fancier wooden kind.
