good gun for 12 and on to use
Great gun for the money. If this does not meet your expectations as to the product review, than move up to 1000fps guns. Just right for the backyard. Will take down all pest at about 20 yards or so. Remember this gun shoots at about 600-700 fps. Just right for the close up plinking. And as always, wear saftey glasses when shooting, especially indoors. Pellets only, as bb's bounce off everything.

Would be a nice gun but quality is not there.
Looks much like the air rifle I had as a teen but the quality is not what it used to be. I bought two of these guns for my sons. One gun has a slight twist in the barrel so the rear sight has to be adjust out of line with the body of the gun. The second gun would not pump due to missing the plunger. Crosman is sending a new one but I am disappointed in the craftsmanship. My old gun lasted 30 years. Where is the old Crosman Quality?

    Memories
My dad bought me one as a kid. Im 37 now and bought one for my kid. Memories! Walmart had it and at the best price vs other stores. Solid bb pellet rifle I still use mine almost 20 yrs later.

    good quality gun
The gun itself is very solid and well build, looks good quality. It should be a very good gun. However, the bad thing is somehow they sent me a used, unusable gun. good thing, Welmart helped me returned the gun right away.

Nailed a can at 60ft first shot!
Right out of the box, this rifle was very accurate-with BBs. I have not tried a pellet, but I purchased the gun for BB use and am very pleased. The front sight is terrific! So far, this gun has been everything I expected. I use it for plinking and safe/quiet target shooting.

It's a good gun for the money.
It is somewhat difficult to load pellets. Pumping it for adults is easy without a scope mounted on it,but harder to do with the scope. Accuracy is good with pellets because of the rifled barrel, but BB's aren't as good. It's a good gun for older kids

Remember when fun things actually were fun to do?
I recall the times when simple pastimes were actually fun and affordable to do. Shooting was one of those things. With the advent of 2nd amendment issues all around us and the high cost or even scarcity of the ammo itself. Plain and simple accurate target shooting need not be out of anyone's reach. The Crosman 2100 Classic combines simple economy. Accuracy beyond comparison. And, trouble free operation. With one of these there is little reason to get out of practice just because it's the wrong season. (indoor range maybe?) or you just can't afford the rounds. I mean how expensive is a few thousand BB's? Let alone a few pellets and a few extra pumps. A real small game getter is you as me. Light in weight, picks up easily, and has a superb front fiber optic sight. Nice piece of work there Crosman. Way to surprise and old cynic like me.

Works great! Accurate! Sights are right on!
I received it and then waited 5 days to try it out. The Crosman box came packed in another box and there was no shipping damage. I waited for the arrival of the Pellgun Oil before I did more than look at it. First impressions: It's light! It looks good and looks like a firearm. The plastic stock and forestock look good but they can't compare to wood stocks. It feels solid and when I put it to my shoulder the front sight seems to lock itself into the slot in the rear sight. The front sight grabs light and is very easy to see. Shooting: Yep. Loading a pellet into the breach can be tricky. I can't directly place the pellet into the breach so I have to drop it. I found that it worked best if I held the rifle on its side and set the pellet on the edge of the opening and let it roll in. Sometimes it worked first time but sometimes I had to try again. Pulling back the bolt was a bit tough the first few times but it soon loosened up a bit and was no problem. Closing it was easy. The sights lined up beautifully and I shook all over the place. It's not the rifle's fault that I can't keep the sights on the target! I shot about 20 rounds at about 30 feet. I used 4 pumps for the first 4 shots and then tried 10 pumps. The extra pumps didn't seem to change where I was hitting on the target. I put 8 rounds into about 1 inch. Among the first 4 shots was a flyer that made the pattern about 1.5 inches. I fired from the sitting position and the standing position. I didn't have to change the sights at all. I also fired at some junk left at the range such as a plastic ammo box and a bottle bottom. The bottle bottom broke nicely at 30 feet with 10 pumps. I'm very happy with its performance. Pumping the rifle isn't too hard but it does take some effort. I expect to use 4-5 pumps for my target practice and I'm happy about that. No-one would want to fire 500 shots in a row. Especially with 10 pumps per shot. Pumping gets old fast but it really helps you concentrate on each shot. The interruption makes each shot a unique and fresh start at firing. It may not be as much fun as a semi-automatic but you can train better this way. The instructions are adequate but the oiling instructions are sparse. I looked at the diagram and then looked at the rifle to find places that had swivel points where the diagram had arrows pointing to the places to be oiled. I don't know how it will hold up over time but it works great now and has plenty of accuracy to allow me to improve my marksmanship.

For $60 you get more than you pay for, at least when it comes to using pellets. Mounted a $25 Barska scope (not a very good short range scope) and was able to hit .25" groups at 17 yds with Crosman Premiers. Two things I didn't like, loading a pellet nose first, on purpose, was impossible. But a little practice of dropping it in, if it doesn't land right, tilt the gun to get the pellet out and then back in made it accectable. Also, cocking the gun when it is new should have a large print explanation with pictures. The back of the cocking lever plate must travel into the gun body before the bolt will slide back. If you put your finger in the lever groove and try to pull straight back, it won't. You need to leverage it at the tip of the lever to get the back of the plate moving inward and then shift your finger as you pull it. After a couple of dozen times you do it instintively tho.

Value, Power, Rugged build, Quiet, and Smooth
I own several pellet guns including (but not limited to) Crosman's c02 1077, Pumpmaster Classic (1377), Tactical .177, Sheridan blue streak .22, and the Daisy 880 among others. The Daisy 880 (though a few dollars cheaper) and the Tactical .177 (a few dollars more) are direct competition for the Crosman 2100--but the 2100 outshines them all. How? The 2100 feels tougher and more durable than either the 880 or Tactical. As well, it outshoots all of the guns I listed above. If not always harder hitting (the Blue Streak tops it), it is more accurate than any of the guns I have named. It will put 10 shots under a dime at 10 yards WITHOUT a scope. And it shoots relatively hard. That's a winning combination of toughness, accuracy, and power that equals the very definition of value. I couldn't recommend the 2100 more strongly. And did I mention its quiet, has a good trigger, and a smooth firing cycle? Don't be put off by the cheap price (I paid $53), buy one. Final word. Everything I said above comes from the experience of shooting pellets. BBs are a waste of time, dangerous, and may harms your gun.

    Long lost friend
I had a Crosman 766 Classic that I loved for over 25 years. I used it to kill many varmints and trash birds over the years. It finally gave up the ghost over the winter and I have been lost without it. Finally realized a couple of weeks ago that the 2100 Classic is basically the new version of the same gun. I received the new gun a few days ago, took it home, spent a few minutes sighting it in and we are back in business. It is like finding a long lost friend. It is very accurate. I like the ability to very the power by varying the number of pumps, since sometimes I want to run something off rather than kill it. Not too crazy about the fiber optic sight, but I bought an inexpensive scope, so that is no longer an issue. Pretty much the only thing in it's class these days. Great gun for the money.
