15 years and still going.
This Smokin Pro served me well for 15 years. Now it will start a new life with my nephew as I upgrade to the Smokin Champ. I have smoked several pork butts at a time, enough to serve 40 people, grilled burgers, dogs, brats, fish fillets, tenderloin, steaks and chops, shrimp, veggies and pineapple. It is the centerpiece in my Tiki Lounge, and smells fantastic, belching out that wonderful hickory smoke.

Never ordering Char-Griller products!
I want to start by saying I have received great service from Hayneedle. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the Char-Griller grills that I received. I ordered one and it arrived so damaged/bent that the grates would fall straight to the bottom of the grill. Hayneedle sent out another one and it arrived damaged also. Char-Griller you really should have some sort of quality control with your products. Will order from Hayneedle again, but will not order another Char-Griller product.

Thank you customer service for getting them taking care of. While I am still learning the ins and outs of this grill, I am extremely pleased to this point. I've had the grill for about a month and have used it a few times. The offset smoker has been a treat that I have never used and am eager to master. The overall quality is exceptional. That being said, the wheels are a bit flimsy and don't fit properly. The wood handles and shelves are also of low quality. That is aesthetics and do not take away from the overall experience. I hope to have many quality meals come out of this grill.Apprentice Smoker

I love it and despite some negative reviews from the pro review web sights I feel that this is a great offset smoker for a beginner with out the big investment required for the professional smokers. Positives: size it's huge and has plenty of space to throw a cookout. You can use it as a smoker or a grill thanks to the adjustable charcoal rack. It heats up fast and maintains a stable temp once you learn the grill. Looks great and is made out of good materials heavy and sturdy especially the fire box. Negatives: Two things right off the add makes it seem that you are getting a grill cover with it and a charcoal starter, neither actually comes with the grill. There was some expansion from the heat to the main cooking box which has caused the grates to have a small gap from each end where they rest instead of being flush. The wheels are definitely not a good match for this grill they are plastic and this is a heavy grill making it difficult to move especially when it's loaded up with wood. Overall this is a great smoker and was an awesome father's Day present from my wife. I love it. There is also alot of modifications you can make to it to truly make this a great smoker. The wheels seem cheap for a heavy grill. Lots of smoke leaks when you close the lid but seem s to keep the temperature where we need it when we use it as a smoker. So far so good.cjwies

The firebox adds an extra measure for true or indirect heat. I already seasoned it and was amazed because I was skeptical if it would be even heat or if Id have to babysit it every 20 minutes. The only gripe that I have is that the instructions for assembling it were a little vague/could've been written better. I challenge you to find a better price for value I think this thing is a bargain and have looked at many brands recently. MADE IN USA!PookeiBehrBQ

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser02/04/2013This Char-Griller Pit made my hubby VERY happy!!!It is a very sturdy pit that stays very hot once you get it fired up. Be sure to test it first, to get used to the heat for smoking or BBQing. The grates are of high quality and heavy. Instructions and parts are labeled, and even include extra nuts, bolts and flanges, just in case. We LOVE our pit! The only thing we were not pleased with is that the paint has begun to peel off of the fire box. We just got it last week, and have already used it twice.CandyKane63

We went by the information how to season to protect the unit and the paint and everything was a-okay after using it twice. Seasoning is very important so do it right from the first. If you have spent more than 10 min shopping for a grill you know what i am talking about. If your looking for the best quality grill then you may wanna save a few bucks and get the top end custom built grill that you have saved in your favorites list to pull out and sigh at from time to time. Pros are 1.Easy to assemble easy to read instructions. 2.with an oven thermometer you can manage the heat with practice. 3.The price is spot on for a mid quality smoker. 4.This is an amazing grill to start on for your novas smoker. Cons. 1. Your going to leak smoke from all corners of the grill. 2. The ash tray on the smoke box does not seal all the way so your fire can get a bit too hot and burn your wood too fast. 3. It WILL rust fast. 4. You will replace this grill after a few years. As I have said you get what you pay for. So do not expect to throw meat off the grill like Bobby Flay but it is a great grill to start off with and see if you want to commit to the world of smokers.Bishop
