Great Printer and Great Value
This printer is one quick and handy device. Upon opening the box, the printer is almost ready to go. Simply remove the orange plastic pieces that are holding the cartridge in place as well as various pieces of tape / paper that hang off the sides and things should be set. The instructions have very clear graphics and tell you exactly what you're supposed to do to set up the printer. The printer itself is pretty much a black box with no random protrusions: roughly 14.25 inches (D) x 15.5 inches (W) x 12.25 inches (H). When the top scanning screen is open, it adds an additional 12.25 inches to the top of the “All In One”. I was able to connect the printer to my family's wireless LAN with no problem. Simply chose the “LAN Method” at setup, search from the SSID access point and type in the appropriate network key and voila, you're connected and ready to go. A quick test print showed that the printer was connected properly and working properly. The quality of the print is very crisp and clean. With the installed drivers, you can also sync up the scanning functions with easy. What's nice about the cover for scanning is that the lid pops up an additional inch or so, thereby letting you scan pages from bigger books. Finally, you should be able to print from a tablet once you've installed the proper app. All in all, this is a great printer and well worth the money!

Great, except for the cost of the toner
I have a home business, and I also have a tiny home. My studio isn't very big, and this laser printer/scanner/copier saves me a ton of precious space. It measures roughly 13 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 12 inches tall. The scan/copier area is about 9 inches by 12 inches. It fits nicely on my shelf, and takes up less space than my old printer and scanner. I save time and money with this unit. First, it is wireless, so I don't need to mess around with cords, or be stuck next to my printer while I'm working on my laptop. I was a little intimidated about setting up a wireless unit, but it was simple. The included installation CD had simple instructions, and it took very little time. The part that took the longest was typing our WiFi code into the printer. Second, I have a copier now. I no longer need to waste time going to the local print shop. It prints, scans, and copies quickly. The quality looks just as good (maybe a bit better) than going to the local print shop, and I get to stay home, sipping coffee in my pajamas, while I make my copies. It also does a fine job at printing out stickers and labels. The images on my adhesive labels were crisp and clean. What I don't like is the toner. I checked a few local stores, and none of them carry the toner that I will need for this unit. It looks like I will need to order it online, and it will cost at least $80. I think this seems a little high. Toner shouldn't cost nearly as much as the printer. The unit comes with a "starter" cartridge, but I'm still a bit disappointed by the price of the toner. Hopefully I can locate a refill service to save some money.

    A good addition
When selecting this printer, I thought it would be a beast in size. When I received the box, I almost had a heart attack wondering where it would fit. However when I opened up the box, it was nowhere near the size I thought it was, though it is taller than the printer/scanner I have had for a while. I was looking for an easy solution to my printer problem, since having two computers with the main out of reach for the printer and nowhere to set it up. I like the wireless feature of this, it allows me to store it in a different part of the room. I am not a very technical person, so the set up had to be done by my boyfriend. He works with printers daily, and it took him about a half hour to set everything up and get it working. Side note, make sure you read the directions BEFORE you plug in the printer. I have used the printing feature a lot since installation. It works nicely and the pages come out clean. I like the fact I do not need to run back and forth between the scanner and computer when scanning something to my desktop. It scans a lot faster than my other scanner as well. Copies come out clean and quick too. The biggest complaint is the noise when printing is very loud, especially in my house. But I can overlook that for how well it works and fits my needs. I did not use the fax function on it because I do not have fax needs. If you plan on buying this, just realize the printer takes toner and not ink, which is more expensive but can last longer. I find the toner easier to install then the ink in my other printer anyway.

Great Workhorse for Home Office/Small Business
The Canon MF212w Mono MFP Wireless Laser Multifunctional Printer is a fantastic choice for anyone needing a printer for a high output home office or small business at a great value. This monochromatic laser printer is very easy to set up and use. The unit functions as a printer, copier and scanner. I also like that it has the capability of mobile printing and scanning through Apple AirPrint, although, I have yet to test this functionality. The printer came packaged assembled and ready to go with minimal set up. The wireless functionality was extremely easy to set up, unlike other wireless printers I've used previously. The front loading input tray holds up to 250 sheets of paper, and we have gone through at least that many copies thus far without any jamming issues. This unit can product up to 24 black and white pages every minute, which is very useful for a home office or small business printer so you're not stuck waiting by the printer for your pages! While I have not yet used the scanning functionality of this unit, the printing and copying is efficient and high quality, especially when printing in large quantities. I've also observed that the printer is much quieter than other, similar printers, I've experienced. Overall, I would highly recommend the Canon MF212w Mono MFP Wireless Laser Multifunctional Printer for a home office or small business which requires high output.

Spectacular print quality - almost HD!
I absolutely love this printer. Over the years I've owned my share of printers however; this is my first laser all-in-one and at this point, not sure I'll ever go back to standard ink-jet printers. Honestly, with all the technological advances we've right at our fingertips daily, printers are quite boring to talk about. Let's face it, they print, scan, fax and copy. But that alone does not take away some exciting reasons for purchasing this particular printer. First, one must consider Canon's reputation for creating high-end products. I personally feel Canon are one of the best (Top 2), available manufacturers within this genre today. The paper drawer alone will hold almost an entire ream of paper! Now that's exciting. Plus your internal mechanisms stay well protected by using the dust cover. If you're like most people, the majority of your printing will be standard black and white. With that said, one toner cartridge can yield up to 2,200 – 2,400 pages. WOW! Now these replacements are not cheap, about $84 - $111 depending on where you shop. If you do the math it's definitely a more functional/economical route; that's probably why most commercial industries are equipped with laser printers. My favorite features include: 1. Scanning/selecting two different PC's. It's very handy for sending documents throughout multiple computers when scanning. 2. Quiet mode – Never have I seen this feature on board a printer and it's just another example of Canon's innovative/cutting-edge abilities. The printer is not annoyingly loud however; if you're working late evening/early morning it does significantly reduce the noise. You can actually even specify a time for it to enter into quiet mode. Bottom line, this is one very wise purchase for anyone that does small quantity printing for home/office and will serve commercial printing applications with ease! Equipped with all the bells and whistles, uncomplicated set-up features along with its user-friendly software/applications, this is a must have printer in my book! I just recommended this product to a very dear friend of mine who owns a business and does a ton of printing.

    GOOD FOR HOME USE
however, it gets very warm after a couple of copies. I had trouble connecting the printer to my wireless computer so I installed it, removed it, and reinstalled and after a few tries I made it work. The bad thing is that the toner is expensive.

Fast Multifunction Printer with Basic Features
The setup of the printer was straightforward and easy. You can connect it via USB, Ethernet or wireless. I was able to set it up with my wireless network without installing any clunky software which is not the norm. The printer features Apple AirPrint which allowed me to print from my iPhone. This is a handy feature for printing last minute documents. For my Android device, I had to download an app in order to print as it does not support Google Cloud print. The printer warms up and prints quickly. It is also very quiet. You can only scan one piece of paper at a time via the flatbed scanner. I was also able to scan directly to my computer after installing the scanner drivers. Initiating the scan from the machine was not as reliable as starting it from the computer. I have a couple complaints about the physical design of the printer. The tilt-screen is a nice feature, but it collapses once you press the button. The paper also does not sit flush in the paper drawer because of the paper guides. This did not affect the actual printing, but this seems like a basic design flaw. Overall, the Canon MF212W is a fast laser printer and scanner that does not take up too much space. The basic functions work well but it is missing some of the nice-to-have features that come with more expensive systems.

Great Printer for the Home Office
I'm using this printer to replace a 10 year old dell laser printer that just died. After two weeks of constant use I'm pretty pleased with the results. The printer is fast and efficient. The warm up time is under 5 seconds from the standby mode. The print quality is crisp and sharp. I've been printing 150 to 200 pages a day and have experienced no paper jams or problems. The Cannon printer has a very to easy use Menu on an LCD screen. The initial setup is a little confusing at first. The summary setup manual could have better written. I actually read the users manual before attempting to set up. I would highly recommend that the manual be read. What impressed me the most was the ability to print from my iPAD and iphone with minimal setup. Within 3 minutes after getting connected to my wireless network and following the simple setup instructions for the apple AirPrint I was able to print from my ipad 3. The scanner work flawlessly and I was impressed with the picture image quality. The image scans to a tiff and you can select to up to two network computers on where to place the image. The scan text documents as well as photos can be put in any number of file formats such as tiff, OCR and PDF. The scans can also be placed directly into an email for immediate sending. Cannon provides all the necessary print drivers and programs on a CD which must be installed on your PC before setup. Pros: The major benefit in my opinion is the ability to place the printer anywhere without a cable (USB or Ethernet) and have accessible by any device on the network - including mobile devices. Network connectivity setup, I was able to connect to my wireless network with ease. Setup was and configuration was very simple and easy. However the you would need to read the manual to understand the many features. Cons: I was disappointed that a fax was not included. In my opinion the quality of the housing which is plastic could have been a little better. I highly recommend this printer for simple home office and family environment.

    My family loves this printer
The Canon MF212w Mono MFP (Multifunction Printer) works great in my busy techie home. I have three students in different grades and a mix of devices (both mobile and desktop) on multiple platforms (Apple, Android and Windows). Installation: • For the printer, there's an “auto connect” type feature, however, I had to use the manual settings due to my network set up. But it was still a piece of cake to set up. The quick start instructions seemed adequate. For more detailed instructions, there is a DVD included. • My Windows 8.1 device picked up the printer right away and was a quick and seamless install. • For the Android devices (a phone and a tablet), it was a matter of making sure the correct version of Android was installed (4.4 minimum) and installing the print service app. You will need to install two different apps, one for printing and one for scanning, if you want to scan. I installed the Canon Mobile Printing service and it was fast and easy. For example, you can print from an image by selecting it and tapping the Canon app logo or the share symbol, then choosing print, or you can start the app and go from there. Alternately, you can open the app and navigate to the desired file then print. • The Apple iPad/iPhone used Canon's Print App to print, but it can also use AppleAir. Performance: • The printed product was of a nice quality. Definitely business quality for documents. The image I printed came out decent, too, since the max. resolution is 600 x 600, it is adequate for grayscale images. • However, when I copied the image I printed and compared the qualities, it was noticeable that the copy was degraded. • Quiet mode is a nice feature for small spaces. • The Id Copy feature simply takes a two-sided document and puts both sides on one page. I guess it's a paper saving feature. • I like that there is still an option to plug in, in case the wireless goes down. • I also like the manual feed for envelopes and such. • The page print time on this printer is much faster than my wired ink jet printer. • Don't be shocked by the price of the replacement cartridges – there's a huge capacity of 2400 pages on it. • The size of the unit is nice, being mostly square. I also appreciate the fact that it does not have paper trays that stick out awkwardly and become a nuisance – these paper trays and quite compact. • The paper tray is covered, which is really nice because pulling dusty paper through a printer makes a dirty printer.

A good choice for a small business or home office.
I was somewhat skeptical when we first considered this laser printer. I work in Information Technology and most I.T. folks tend to cringe when they hear the words multifunctional and printer in the same sentence. In the past the driver software for multifunctional printers has been poorly written and most often caused more issues than ever benefited the user. I can honestly and frankly happily say that this is not the case with the Canon MF212w. The driver software is well written and works quite well. The printer includes the extra functions of both a copier and a scanner, a FAX option is not included, but FAX seems to be going the way of the Dinosaurs in any case. I tested the printer in the various configurations it offers, standard "hard wired" Ethernet 10/100BaseTX (RJ-45), USB 2.0, I was surprised that the printer did not come with the current USB 3.0 standard, but USB 3.0 Ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so there is no connectivity issue. Lastly I tested the Wireless 802.11b/g/n configuration. A quick caveat on the wireless function, it works best if the wireless modem is in the same room as the printer. It will work at a fairly long distance but walls, doors or other obstructions can cause issues. For the most part, if you have a strong signal on a wireless device like a laptop or a tablet the printer should work fine in that area. For me all the advertised functions worked just fine in all configurations.
