Liked it so much, I bought it again.
I liked it well enough to buy a second one for my son over a year later. The performance is excellent for a laser color printer, especially in this price range and doubly so when on sale -- and I have owned several different brands. If you're going to go with this type of device, there is no percentage in trying to save a few pennies on substandard consumables, nor trying to eek out that last one-cent of toner. Just bite the bullet and get the real deal as-needed. If your budget is so tight you can't help yourself, get an ink jet instead and use someplace like Kinko's or Staples for those special print jobs. You'll have the benefits without the overhead and you can refill the cartridges. My original buy of this was for a vacation home where I needed a toner-based printer. Ink-based ones would dry up between visits. I've never had a lick of trouble with mine. I have seen other reviews reporting trouble but can't comment on those as I don't know those individuals' circumstances. Mine work great. You do need to familiarize yourself with the computer-based admin screen accessible through your browser, as well as the onboard admin stuff. It's not hard, but it is necessary.

    Great printer!
    Bought this printer to replace an older Brother printer that had made about 70000 pages. Love the print quality; pictures and maps are crisp and replacement ink is reasonably priced.

    Great "wireless option"
    I was wanting to replace an older color laser printer and decided to stay with the Brother line of printers. For me they have been more reliable and much less expensive to operate. This one with a wireless option so I can print from either iPhone or iPad has be fantastic.

    I bought this at Sam's Club on line. I did a lot of research on printers. It turned out to be the best. It's a brother printer color laser printer. Sam's club had the best price. And brother printer has the best support. Plus warranty is great. Easy set up with DVD. Prints everything it says it does. The colors are perfect. I made a great choice. And will stand behind it. It's the HL-3170CDW. Brother printer.

    Only thing different I would have done would be to get the one with the flatbed scanner, I shopped to quick. Oh well.

    Effortless setup
    I bought this for replacement. A friend and I reviewed many possible replacements, and felt this one was best for my situation and was cost-effective in the long run. Set up was easy and effortless, and it is very nice having a wireless printer! I do not know about long-term costs .
