Great Printer
I absolutely love this printer. Everything works great and I like the fact that I can send anything I scan to my email or my computer. Printing quality is excellent. The only thing I would complain about is the cost of the ink but I guess it's not horrible for the amount of pages you can print.

Always a problem
The first one copier the glass was cracked we got a second one and there's these little red dots that show up on the paper every time you print out something

    Not what I would expect for the price point.
    This brand came highly recommended by my tech-support professional. He puts them in Dr's offices and high volume places. He says they are VERY fast. I guess I got the wrong model...the cartridges are 3x's the cost of my HP InstaPrint toner. The expensive cartridges last about 1/2 as long. I am on PC and my colleague with whom I share this printer is on a Mac. She can scan and I cannot...this printer doesn't print 2-sided (the less expensive smaller Brother MFC-J4535DW does? Go figure). I'm aware this probably a driver issue....but I've run that program twice with no difference...The toner must 'heat up' before it can adhere, so there is this weird space between sending to the printer and the actual printing. This machine is very heavy and quite large...the space we have is not quite deep enough, so we have to slide it forward to open the top to get to the cartridge area. The quality is good, once you get things going.

    Great printer….but
    Would have given this printer a very solid 5…but it eats toner! Super impressive in every other aspect. Buy lots of reserve toner cartridges because it goes through them like a kid on his first Halloween candy bar!

    Interface could be much more user friendly.
    It is a robust machine that mechanically performs very well. I find the printer interfaces in apps unnecessarily complicated and confusing. If one changes a setting for say an envelope, the next regular print job has to be reconfigured. Instead of having to change settings, the interface should just have simple and temporary on click shell buttons.

    Don't update your firmware!
    Great product - lousy business practice. Just installed latest software update and found out the printer will no longer accept aftermarket cartridges forcing the use of over-priced Brother cartridges. Sneaky. Will never buy Brother again!

    Look around before settling with this one.
    Printer has some connectivity problems with the internet. After a few months the LCD screen started to have problems and half of the LCD screen is now covered in glitchy lines. Printer sometimes has issues when connecting to a PC for scanning documents. Other than those issues, it works okay but seeing as I haven't owned it for very long I am not proud of it's performance thus far.

    Speed an issue
    The quality of the print is fine, but, the speed is much slower than I anticipated. It seems to be unable to handle (spool?) large files with photos or graphics (such as would be in ppt presentations).

    Copier works very well and is fairly easy to use without having to read the owners manual every time you do something new. The one dislike I have is it does not have a cat5 direct input. Sending document from my computer over the wireless system is very slow. It takes at least 20 seconds for the copier to start to print. For this reason I would not purchase this model again. Otherwise it works great, the toner cartridges' are easy and quick to to change.

    Another solid Brother printer!
    Great printer! Very fast scanner! Color is crisp and pictures detailed. The computer interface is a bit cumbersome but all in all a very good all around machine.

    This is the third Brothet color MFP laser we have purchased for our office. They have proven to be absolutely dependable. Setup is extremely simple and there is no fuss with any of the various connection options. Replacing the affordable toner cartridges easy fast and easy. I highly recommend these printers.
