A GREAT LITTLE MONOCHROME PRINTER
The box contained the Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer, (1) Starter Toner Cartridge (approximately enough toner for 700 pages), (1) DR630 Drum Unit (previously installed into the printer. (yields approximately 12,000 pages) a CD ROM containing a User Manual and Printer Drivers, Also in the box was a paper Quick Setup Guide. The Quick Setup Guide actually was quite easy to understand and the instructions were clear and concise which made for an easy setup and installation. The physical setup of the printer involved removing the printer from the box, removing the clear plastic shipping cover, removing several orange colored plastic shipping protection devices and a couple of pieces of tape. I then cut open the toner cartridge plastic cover bag, removed the toner cartridge and snapped it into place. Next I put a supply of letter size paper into input paper tray and adjusted it to fit the paper. Photo Number 1 of this product review shows the printer with the open paper tray door and the open toner cartridge door. Printer operation setup was next on the to-do list. The Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer was very easy to set up for wireless printing from my Android tablet using Google Cloud Print and from my Windows desktop via the High Speed USB 2.0 port. I used the Installation CD provided in the box for the initial setup. The program installed perfectly the first time. I then successfully printed a document from my desktop. I then went to my Android tablet and had it search for the new Brother HL-L2315DW Laser Printer in Google Cloud Print. It was immediately found. Then I selected a Word document for printing. The print command was executed and very quickly the Brother HL-L2315DW came to life and ejected a printed copy of the selected Word file. (see this product review photo #2 “Printed Document”) At that point I had successfully printed on the Brother HL-L2315DW from both my desktop and my Android tablet. The installation and first printing was completed in less than 10 minutes. The video in this product review documents the first wireless printing from my Android tablet using Google Cloud Print. The Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer is quick and produced very good quality black and white printouts. The HL-L2315DW has a desk space saving compact footprint (approximately 14 inches wide and 14 inches deep and 7 1/4 inches high). The paper input tray stores up to 250 sheets of paper. The output tray can store up to 100 sheets of printed paper. The input paper tray can handle both Letter and Legal size paper. The manual feed slot is used for printing envelopes and letterheads and extra thick paper. The printer is capable of printing both single side and two side (Duplex) pages. Printing is really quite fast, the manufacturer claims 24 pages per minute. That claim seems to be factual. Single side and duplex printing are available on selection. The paper storage tray has a capacity of up to 250 sheets of paper. The tray accommodates Letter, Legal, Executive, A4, A5, A6, B5 and B6 size paper with weights of 16-28 lbs (bond). The output tray has storage capacity of up to 100 sheets. The Manual Feed can accommodate sizes from 3.0-8.5 inch width and weights of 16-42 lbs. (bond) and with media types of Plain, Bond, Envelopes and Labels. The Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer is Energy Star Certified. When in deep sleep the printer only consumes 0.7 Watts of power. I leave the printer on all the time so that I can readily print from my tablet at will. The only negative factor of this printer that I have discovered is the Status/Select Display is not illuminated & exterior lighting is needed to read the display. I used a small flashlight & it worked well. On the basis of using the Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer for less than one week I would give the printer very high grade marks. The crisp high quality text print along with very good quality monochrome photo printing is all that anyone could ask from a printer. It is too soon to say much about the long term reliability of the Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer, but thus far I have experienced absolutely no problems with this printer. I looked at product reviews for other Brother Laser Printers and found nothing but glowing long term reports, therefore it is reasonable to assume that a similar long term experience will occur with this printer. If I had need for another monochrome laser printer I would give this printer serious consideration for purchase. I received this Brother HL-L2315DW Black and White Laser Printer at no cost for Test, Evaluation and Review purposes.

Perfect for a home office!
The Brother HL-L2315 laser printer is perfect for anyone having to work from home. It's ideal for printing contracts, invoices, or if you want a black and white picture, etc. The resolution is not stated on the box, but I would say the printing is sharp and not grainy at all. Since it is a monochrome printer, it's an economical choice for lots of printing because it will print on both sides of the paper. The print quality is crisp and very legible. The best feature is that you can send the print jobs from your Iphone and Ipad almost effortlessly. On the other hand, printing from an android phone like Samsung or even from a “Nook” you will need the help of a Brother printing app from the “play store”. What makes this possible is its wonderful “wifi” capability, although the print jobs seem to run much slower with the android products vs. the Apple products. That might be from the way my network is set up, or possibly Apple products are just more innovative, but that was just my experience testing them all. Basically, I didn't have to download an additional app for my portable Apple products in order to print my documents. There is a small display on top that tells you the status of the print job. Setting up this printer was rather easy, and it does come with picture instructions and software (drivers) to load on your desktop. The space that it takes up is not as bulky as I thought it was going to be. We placed ours on top of our letter sized filing cabinet, although the printer is 14 inches long and 7 inches tall, if you're thinking of putting it on a shelf. For us, it fits just fine. In summary, I would recommend it as a super great value for a simple laser printer.

    Great product for students
    This is a perfect printer. I am a college student and previously had a wifi, color, ink printer. I realized that the only things I print are course packs, materials, study guides, practice exams, excel layouts, and airplane ticketry. My studio is all wireless, so wireless printing is a must. The wireless functionality of this printer is flawless. I can print from my phone, iPad, and laptop all no problem barely any set up at all. In terms of design, I love the fact that this printer encloses everything. This fixes the annoyance of paper being left out in the open to tint, sag, bend, collect dust etc. The dust ends up entering your printer when the page is sucked in, and in the long run can ruin a printer. This is a non-issue with my Brother. Its massive paper capacity is also awesome. The real winner feature is front and back printing. Talk about saving my back! instead of printing a 700 page course pack, in color, form my old ink printer, and wasting an hour away of printing, I now set two pages per page, front and back = 4 pages per page, print in black and white (what engineering teachers use color.. none!) and print 175 pages instead, MUCH quicker and quieter. My back has thanked me already. Great printer, I have had it for a few weeks now and I can tell it will last a while. Comes with a starter toner (ink) brick that prints 700 pages. I am barely through this at all. Also, the mini screen and buttons allow easy access to toner and drum life and levels.

    Great black and white printer.
    Wow! This Brother HL-L2315DW Compact Laser Printer is pretty amazing. Everything I have printed is so much cleaner and clearer than what I have been printing on my ink jet printer. I like that the wireless networking makes printing from anything in network so easy from anywhere within wi-fi range. I turned on duplex printing and it is great. I definitely plan to use this two-sided printing feature since saving paper is good for the environment as well as my wallet. It was a pleasant surprise how much faster twenty-four pages per minute printing is compared to twelve pages per minute. I really like the speed. The tray holds two hundred and fifty pages of paper. That also is a lot compared to fifty that my inkjet printer holds. I'm very pleased with this printer for the quality, speed and overall cost of printing all my black print needs. I can purchase standard toner cartridges for 1200 copies or a high yield cartridge which will make a whopping 2600 copies each. I haven't researched the cost of the cartridges yet but I know it will be considerably less than inkjet cartridges that have become ridiculous to buy. So far, the only negative was using the quick start guide. During actual set-up it asked some questions that are not in the guide. It took awhile to figure it out, but when done, it was certainly worth it. Overall, it's a good buy for home or home office needs.

    Nice printer
    I am over the moon about this printer. The first thing I will mention is that it does not come with a wire to connect the printer directly to the computer, if this is something that bothers you, this is not for you. When setting up, it is not very difficult. You have the option to set it up by adding the drivers via CD Rom or, if your computer does not have a disk drive like mine, you can download them from the internet. This unfortunately took some time, I wish it wouldn't have taken so long. After getting your drivers downloaded you will be able to set up your printer wireless. Most computers these days are wireless as well as mobile phones and tablets so this is perfect for those that may not have a desktop or that may only use mobile devices. The printing quality is great. You don't see lines, or streaks on the paper after printing. The pages print very quickly which is also a big step up from my Hp ink jet that takes some time to print, especially if you are in a hurry. Overall the printer is worth the value, works well, and is easy to use. Another plus I will mention, is that the printer is not huge and bulky, so it can be easily moved.

    Excellent home printer
    The Brother Black and White Laser Printer with Duplex and Wireless is an excellent printer for the home office. If you have need of color printouts this is not the printer for you. However if black and white is the majority of your printing, you couldn't do better. The printing is crisp and clear. It is very easy to use. I attached the printer to my reliable Dell laptop using a USB cord (not included with the printer), loaded the printer software and I'm ready to print. I first printed a short email using Portrait. It turned out perfect. I was very impressed with the quality of the page. Next I printed a long email that wouldn't fit on one page. I printed it on two pages, next printed it as a double-sided page. It turned out beautifully. I have also changed the setting on printouts to see how each comes out. The printing is easy to manipulate by checking and clearing boxes on the setup screen. The Brother printer is a nice cool grey with a black top. It fits well on a small end table and does not take up so much space that it needs to be stored away. The paper tray holds nearly half a ream of copy paper. I am very positively impressed with this Brother printer. I would heartily recommend it for home office use. This printer also accesses my internet so that I can use it with my iPhone. Very easy to use.

    Brother Printer - A great wi fi printer
    This Brother printer is great. Setup was very simple. Remove protective items, play the CD for instructions on installation and use. If you have no CD rom, read the alternate instructions. The printer is a full sized desktop laserjet printer. The printer comes with a short use toner cartridge. The owner needs to plan on purchasing a full use cartridge. The instructions are shown on the PC screen. You will need to download the driver and software from Brother. If you own a wireless router, the printer can be used without a PC. Activate the WPS or AOSS button on the router, press wi-fi button on the Brother printer, wireless printing is now ready. This printer does an excellent printing job. (Black and white only). I recommend this to anyone who can use a wireless printer with an iPhone, Ipad, or other tablet.

    Works FANTASTIC and so EASY to set up!
    When I got this printer, I was thrilled at the thought of owning a brother Compact Laser Printer to use at home. My deceased Husband had used laser printers for his business and at one time owned 20 or more printers. So I am slightly familiar with laser printers, but to be honest, I have never set one up by myself. My husband was the person in charge of tech, so I was a little concerned that I could handle this myself. So I unpacked everything, but the first problem arose because my laptop doesn't have a CD-Rom player. Thankfully, my daughter installed the program on her laptop. Also, be aware that it doesn't come with a USB cord, but we found that we didn't need it at all. Now, if you happen to have this same problem of not being able to play the CD-ROM, you can download the full driver and software package from the Brother Solutions Center. You won't need the CD-ROM if you do this and there is a driver for Windows and a driver for Mac. I was concerned about maybe needing to know things like the local IP address or remembering a password that I had written down somewhere. But it configured the printer port just fine after telling it to change things as needed . This was the recommended option anyway. After that, the WLAN report printed a test paper that said "connection : ok" along with some other stuff. My daughter then installed the driver and it was really super easy! There are easy to understand prompts along the way and if you do have a problem, you can always get help from the Brother website. You can also go there to register your printer. If you follow the 'Quick Setup Guide', you shouldn't have any problems getting the printer up and running pretty fast. It took maybe 20 minutes before we were able to print the first test paper. After we got the printer working on my daughter's laptop, I decided to see how difficult it would be to add my laptop on the wireless network so that I could print something without bothering her. So I opened the 'windows settings' and clicked on 'Devices'. Over on the left, I clicked on 'Printers & Scanners' and the 'Add a printer or scanner' was at the top of the page. I click on that and the computer automatically found the printer on the network. It added it to the list of printers and was ready to go just like that! The first thing I printed was a recipe with no problem. I wanted to see how well this printer handled graphics, so I found a picture on my laptop of a dragon (it just happened to be in black and white) that was pretty detailed. I was amazed at how fast this little printer whipped through the job and printed the graphics in perfect black and white detail! Beautiful!! I just tried out the 'print on both sides of the paper' option. I have worried about this for a couple of days now because I used to have to either put the paper back into the paper drawer after the first side printed or use the manual print option. Either way I usually messed up the first few papers because I could never remember which way the paper went into the printer. But this little printer takes care of that for me! I watched it print the first side of the paper and before I could blink, the paper was being drawn back into the printer and POW! the second side was printed! Woohoo!!! lol So my next thought was what would happen if I needed more than one copy of something that had printing on both sides. I found the email from Brother thanking me for registering my printer. The email had 2 pages to it, so I set up the print option for 2 copies and for it to print the 2 pages onto 1 paper. Clicked print and ran over to eagerly watch my little printer do its job. Again, it worked quickly with no problems what so ever! The first paper popped out with the first page printed, then it went back into the printer to print the opposite side and finally popped out of the printer to rest on top. Then this beautiful Brother printer quickly went to work on the second page. First side printed, popped out, went back in, second side printed and BAM! ALL DONE! This Brother printer can also collate the papers for you. At first I didn't think it could, but that was user error. Meaning that I didn't actually TELL the printer to collate. Somehow I missed that in the advanced settings after telling the printer how many copies and so forth. So I found a recipe with 4 pages to it and told the printer that I wanted 3 copies, using both sides of the paper and I also wanted to collate the pages. The collation of these papers worked great! I can see how this machine would make quick work of either a home or small business project. This would also be a wonderful printer to buy for a teenager, as long as they don't need color prints. That's the only "drawback", it can only print in black and white. But for what I need it to do, it's a perfect printer and having the Brother name to back it up is just icing on the cake!! By the way, if you are like me and want to learn more about the printer, you can go to the Brother website to find the manual. There is a pop-up you can use to learn where your model number is located on your printer, if you need it. I found their website to be very user friendly.

    Great black & white Printer
    I'm really impressed with this Brother - Black and white laser printer, Model number HLL2315dw. Its has wireless connectivity and automatic two sided printing. The printer was well packed and was simple to unpack and run a test page as shown. The cartridge supplied with the printer is a starter toner cartridge, which means you can print up to 700 pages. The standard toner does 1200 pages and the High Yield toner cartridge does 2600 pages. The printer comes with a installation disk which has drivers ,utilities and a user manual to make printing easy and a snap to set up wireless networking. Did I mention the Brother printer is wireless!!, print from your mobile device or computer This printer would make the perfect home office printer for black and white documents of all types. The Brother Hll23115dw printer has a fast print speed, up to 24PPM black and a 250 sheet paper capacity. The printer paper is easy to load in the pull out drawer. I would recommend this Brother - Black and white laser printer, Model number HLL2315dw to all home office users because it is easy to set up and use. The wireless feature works well enabling the printer to be used anywhere in the home or office.

    Lightening Fast!
    First but not foremost, this printer was VERY quick and easy to setup and install. It recognized my wireless network immediately after I installed the included software that contained driver's etc., to get me started. There's also an option to connect via USB cable, which is NOT included. NOW... I literally stood there with my mouth wide open at how fast this thing is! I turned to walk away when I read, "receiving data", and within seconds, I was stopped in my tracks. It went from "Ready" to "Complete" (or finished) in approximately 1 minute(if not less). This Brother Laser Printer model L-L2315DW, received the data from my 49 page e-document and spit those pages out crisp, accurate and faster than I've ever experienced with any of my inkjet printers. This is my first experience with a laser printer, and I'm sold.
