Very functional.
I ordered this bench to put in our entry hall. The wood surface has a nice grain and the piece fits in well in my modern decor. It can also serve as extra seating when we have guests visit.

Beautiful but came damaged
This table is beautiful and stylish but made of cheap materials. Check everything in the box before you start putting it together- we assembled everything only to discover that the corner of the laminate table top is crushed in and damaged. My husband didn't want to disassemble it all again so we are keeping the damaged table. Don't make the same mistake as me.

    Sturdy, well-made, inexpensive Mercer bench
Although there was an online description included with this bench, I was a little skeptical, as online purchases don't always fare well. But this bench is made of real wood, is well made, and is very sturdy. It took about twenty minutes for me tout it together by myself. I wanted a small to medium size bench for a sitting area in the kitchen. This one does the job. I saw several other benches in other magazines of the same design with price tags two to three times as much. I am very happy with the purchase.

    Sturdy beautiful piece
These benches were sonics and worth the price with their solid construction and easy instructions. Took about 30 min for each and came with all parts nicely labeled.

    Better than expected!
I purchased 2 other benches prior to this one... All similar (wood top, black metal square legs) between 48 -55" but costing significantly more. The first over $300 from overstock, the wood was a more red color than expected & the legs were filled with metal shavings. The second from target, $150 which became a problem when they wouldn't ship, required store pick up, and when I went to pick up was built & a display from in store, the leg frame/bolt holes did not line up, the wood was nicer (in my opinion) than this one but the overall quality appeared cheap and I was concerned about the bolts being loose/unable to be tightened on the frame. So I found this one, under $100 delivered to my door! Figured it was worth a shot & boy am I glad I did! There are not visible bolts where you attach the legs! (Makes it look more expensive/high quality.) The legs are 1.5"-2" square, more girth (also matches the legs on my table better... Crate & Barrel black steel parsons table with black glass.) the legs are almost 'brushed' black steel paint color... Up close you can see the brush marks, but from a couple feet away under bright light you can't tell, looks solid painted. I feared the wood would look cheap via photos shown... Looks much better than I expected! Almost like a wenge wood. (I'll try to post photo.) it took my husband 20 minutes to put together, including unpacking, and he was half asleep! I'm not sure of the true weight capacity... We'll find out this coming week with a dinner party ;) but for the price I'm more than happy & would highly recommend!
