No more spoiled peppers
I was constantly having to discard spoiled green and red peppers because I live alone and just did not use them fast enough. Now, however, I do not have that problem. I cannot tell the difference in my recipes with the Augason Farms dehydrated peppers mix. At last I have peppers when I need them and no more waste. I highly recommend them.

VERY disappointed in Ag. Farms
I do not believe many of these positive reviews at all. I so like very much Augason Farms and buy many of their other products (LOVE their potato soup) But this red/green bell peppers is awful. It's like it's created from some other department with an idiot running it. The peppers are chopped up so tiny that after soaking them, it turns to mush (hence the idiot who thinks chopping something so tiny). Then completely disappears when cooking. PLUS the can comes about 1/4 full! Sure I understand about settling and such but these are freeze dried which should have minimal "settling" and if this can was actually filled, there is absolutely NO way it would settle that much so only 1/4 of the can is filled. The process of "settling" is a con used by some company's to cut costs. Sure there is always some settling but not excessive. I thought Augason Farms was above such practices as their other products seem ok. I guess we're now paying mostly for the weight of the can.

    peace of mind having Augason long term food stored
    Just purchased these items for emergency long term food storage, packed away. Have never tried it. Just knowing I have several of them plus other Augason items help give me peace of mind. Only gave three stars because I havn't tasted them

    Suggestion for Smaller Cans
    Maybe they sell smaller cans, I don't know but if they don't, my suggestion would be to make cans half this size also for their products. I received several cans today of their various products and some were very heavy (meat substitute). Smaller cans would allow people to try the products without waste, save their back when backpacking, ensure fresher product due to not having large quantities open, etc. In regards to this product I think it is very good. Receiving it today, I put a small amount in water and while it was soaking, I prepared breakfast and then as my omelet was cooking, I added these peppers. The omelet was really good and we could taste the peppers just fine. I'll be using these in/on eggs, pizza, soups, stews, and more. The 20 oz is a large amount actually and I can say for my household, it will probably last a year. I plan to order another can in the near future just to have it available since it does have a long shelf life. Oh, for those of you that buy this product, I would suggest opening with a bottle opener instead of what I did.....removing the entire lid with a can opener. It is fine enough and the can light enough that you could shake it out from a small opening. Very satisfied with this Augason Farms product.

    excellent product
    Pepper pieces work well in recipes. I made an excellent, flavorful meat loaf using this diced pepper product, the minced onions, chopped veggies for stew. They all re-hydrated as they cooked, adding a lot of flavor, using minimal salt. Also used these elements in meat balls, vegetable broth, chicken stew. Just don't add too much to the recipe, dehydrated elements increase in volume considerably.

    I've only had maybe 2weeks. Put in ragu to make pizza sauce. Put in water before heating for mashed potato's Put in spaghetti sauce. No good as an out of the can snack :) hard stuff. Adds good things, texture and flavor and hopefully some nutritional value... & thickens up sauces very well. Little bit goes a long ways.

    This is not only fantastic for emergency food, but for everyday use. Simply rehydrate in a little water and use like you would diced peppers... omlets , pizza, salad... great flavor... I make a lot of small batch soups..these along with the onions are always handy now

    Great Product!... but...
    We really love all the Augason Farms products, really a money saver for us. This can of Red and Green Bell Peppers was just loaded with seeds :( Don't get me wrong the peppers are great and when you first open the can it smells so good but I can't seem to get over how many seeds there are in this can. They don't soften and there are so many it would almost be impossible to pick them all out before use. I will still purchase them but come on Augason, get rid of the seeds!
