PAINT CHIPS to reveal white rock underneath!
This gravel is a smoking deal & now I know why. We bought loads of this stuff for my son's 55 gal tank. After just a couple weeks of tank cleanings I started to notice white bits in the gravel. Turns out it's the black paint chipping off the gravel. Spend a little more money & get better quality gravel! You'll be happy you did!!

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/25/2022Made my tank cloudy and my fish sick.My tank was fine at first but my fish started looking sick and my tank stays super cloudy. I change the water out and it immediately gets cloudy again a couple days later. Stuff keeps floating up from the gravel as well. When it comes to your fish I recommend spending a little extra on the good stuff at the pet store instead of this.Nathan

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/24/2021excellent value, bang for your buck!like: enough volume to fill my tank and some potted plants, all for under$5! dislike: my bag had some tiny white flakes that look like shell material or other substrate material that was very difficult to separate from the gravel itself. I also thought it was natural rock, it is some kind of coated substrate. i also wish the rocks were a bit bigger, because i was having issues with the smaller ones getting sucked up into my sump and messing with the filter in my fish tank. overall excellent value though, and decent enough quality.Mimi

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser11/28/2021Perfect! Except one flaw.I love these rocks I got them hoping they'd look like my other brand I got and you can't notice the difference! The only bad thing is that the rocks that are chipped are like a copper color and some rocks were uncolored so I threw them out or just blended them into the other ones I already had. I love it either way.Tayuyya

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/21/2016Gravel not completely black...This is not well colored gravel. About 70% of it is all black, the rest shows white in the little grooves and pits of the pebbles. The material is not uniform in color, the substrate looks a little blotchy in the tank. Apparently when the color was added to white gravel in a tumbler, not enough paint or dye was added. However, at about 57% off (the regular price for 5 pounds of gravel is $5. This was $2.17), I really can't complain too much. [The upright, green & white thing is a piece of zucchini for the pleco to eat.]primeline31

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/11/2015DON'T GET THE BLACK "GRAVEL"i rinsed off in cool before adding it. it has literally been in my tank for about 5 hours and the black coating on this "gravel" is already coming off. i have white sand on one side of tank and you can see the black coating sitting on top of the sand. the black "gravel" is chipped off and showing the white CONCRETE pieces underneath. it appears to be tiny concrete pieces dipped in some kind of rubber coating. it has totally fouled my tank. i am extremely disappointed. GRAVEL by definition is rock, not concrete. now i have to empty my tank and take out that garbage. there is NO WAY that coating isn't going to mess with my ph. WHY would you make a product like this? if i could post a pic of it (with a picture of my dated receipt) i would, so i'll just have to take it to Facebook. the public needs to know.SooperFreak
