Way more than similar priced models
Although a little small this thing is very very well built with no seams but rather a solid one piece unit ,the lock is incredible with 5 dead bolts holding it secure (one each top and bottom as well as 3 off the side ,also really like the key hole as opposed to the typical key assembly you would see on a similar priced stack on ,unless you have a armory to store this is the one to get ,perfect for 3 long guns and plenty of room left for ammo ,trust me here that this is the one to buy ,I was debating because of the lack of reviews on this model but very glad I rolled the dice here

Jammed locking mechanism
I picked this gun safe because according to previous reviews it seemed better than a simple gun cabinet. It arrived with minor dents and scratches, as most other reviewers have posted. I unlocked it, looked inside, locked it again to move it - and the lock got jammed. The key turned, it 'felt' like the safe should unlock, but the door was stuck. No amount of jiggling or shaking, turning the whole safe upside down would make it open again. Thank goodness we had not bolted the safe down or put property in yet. It went back within the hour, and I requested a refund. Maybe this does not typically happen, but I am not willing to risk having a jammed safe door.

    Strong gun storage under $200
I must have lucked out. My safe arrived in 5 days, the box was fine, the foam protection was fine, the safe was fine. I refer to it as a safe because it is far sturdier than a storage cabinet. The hinges are welded to the door and are all internal to the cabinet. No exposed hinges. It has much thicker than a metal storage cabinet. The door is very heavy and has 5 locking bolts that move out to the top, bottom and sides. There is also a very small gap between the door and frame. It does not allow a prybar to get in there, only a screwdriver. The cabinet metal is thick and hard. I used my own 5 lag bolts that I angled from the corners into the wall studs. I used a larger square nut to space away from the corner and provide a flat surface for the bolt head. When I drilled the holes I had to sharpen the bit after drilling each hole. It has outside dimensions of 10W x 10D x 55H, the door is 2 thick, and interior long gun area is 9.5W x 7.5D x 46.5 H. It is good for 5 long guns. If you have scopes and or large magazines you may have to angle them and only get 3 or 4 guns.

    Works for me!
First time buying online/pickup @ store, great shopping experience!!! As for the gun safe, my only complaint, was there was a small dent on outside of safe; it was evident there was some suspect handling; the safe is perfect for the amount firearms that I have; fits perfect in my closet; I would recommend, only if you don't have over five long guns & a lot of ammo! Still need to secure to stud & floor.

    Fits my needs
The cabinet itself was exactly what we needed to store a shotgun, rifle, a few handguns and ammo. However it arrived damaged, the door had to be taken apart to realign the pins and the paint was chipped in several places from shipping damage. Aside from the damage, the cabinet is suitable for our needs which were simply to keep our firearms in a secure location. FYI, we weren't able to use the bolts that came with the safe because they were concrete bolts and we had to bolt both the back and the bottom to secure it. For handgun storage, we purchased a rack that hooks on the shelf for easy access. All in all, for under 150.00, I would purchase again. Just remember it's not a show piece...but it is functional.

    The safe has its' quirks
This safe is not very heavy, because it's capacity is limited. It's more than what I need, but I had a frustrating time with it right out of the box. The skeleton key that came with it did not want to turn all the way over and allow the door to swing open. The key would turn from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock with no issues, but needed to keep going to about 2 o'clock in order for the bolts to be completely out of the way. The directions were locked inside. When I did finally get in, I took the covering plate off from the inside of the door and really oiled up all of the moving parts, including the key slot. By moving it around many times it has loosened up some, but it doesn't always work flawlessly. I would highly recommend that you bolt this safe down to the floor or into a wall stud though, because it is pretty light and can easily be moved around. For the money, I'm well enough pleased with it, but those of you who don't necessarily feel like going through the hassle of the locking mechanism may want to just spring for a more expensive unit.

    Perfect for most residential needs
This is the perfect storage cabinet for the small collector. Tougher & more secure than a gun locker while not as heavy as a true safe. Perfectly suited to be bolted to the wall and the floor (I used anchors from a big box store instead of the anchors that came with it). Will not likely stop a prepared criminal from stealing your weapons, but will definitely slow them down (and likely to discourage your average burgler from spending the time trying to get into it). This product is perfect for my needs and the price to value ratio just right. Truth be told, although it is billed as a 5-gun cabinet, I don't see it holding more than 4. That's all I had and exactly what I needed it to hold. I've got a Benelli 12-guage, 8mm Mauser, .30 cal. M-1 and Ruger .22 cal rifle in there and that is ALL it would hold.

Only expect to put 3 guns in this cabinet
This is a great little cabinet if you only have a couple of weapons. The lock is a bit cumbersome as the keys are the old fashion large keys no one wants on their key chain. Securing them will be a problem. An actual door latch with a normal key would have been a better choice. The door is much heavier then the entire unit which causes a problem if you can't bolt it to the floor or the wall (I live in an apartment so I have to find another way to keep it from tipping when you open the door). If it were only 3 inches wider, or deeper, my ammunition can would fit... It would be nice if there were places for a bungee cord to hook to for securing the weapons, but I'll add that myself. Overall this is good little safe for money, especially if you don't have much room and you don't have more then a couple of weapons.

    Basic Safe for Basic Security
Although the safe arrived with thin cardboard strips around the edges of itself wrapped in plastic and inside a cardboard box, it still arrived with the paint chipped all along the edge where the door opens/closes. Since no one is going to see it except for the residents of my household, it isn't that big of a deal. I would just expect to receive an undamaged product if I purchase a brand new product. The bolts that hold the door closed are thick and form a solid, secure seal, however, the two tiny holes on the bottom of the safe for floor mounting are pretty flimsy and in a less than ideal location. We made our own holes in the four corners of the bottom for a more secure attachment into the floor. Also, our hardware bags were empty. We had to go to the hardware store and purchase our own bolts and washers but at least the company provided us with empty bags. There is no handle or anything like that to open the door. The door opens by inserting the key, turning the key, then pulling on the key. The keys are BIG! Similar to old fashioned skeleton keys. The small, removable shelf that is inside can hold about 6 boxes of shotshells. The brace along the back of the safe is a thick, foam-type material and will not scratch any gun barrels rested against it. I do not feel any of the issues are related to Wal*Mart themselves. The shipping label on the box was from American Furniture TO Wal*Mart and then from Wal*Mart to us. I didn't bring these issues to Wal*Mart's attention because I believe Wal*Mart did a fine job with the sale of the product. I got this safe on sale and for the price I paid, it is a great deal and will get the job done.

    Above and beyond expectations
This cabinet is built tough enough, came right on delivery date. And best of all, required no assembly! Happy camper here.
