Very slow. And only a pro can change the battery
(A) This ASUS is slow: An identical program on 3 machines (putting 9 million doctors in a MYSQL database) needed: 8.2 hours on this new ASUS X555LA with i7 processor and 6 GB RAM; 5.0 hours on a Toshiba Satellite L775, which I got 4 years ago, with i3 processor and 4 GB RAM; 3.5 hours on a new HP Pavilion 15-AU023CL with i5 processor and 12 GB RAM; So the ASUS is a lot slower, even though it has the fastest chip. The HP costs $100 more, has a terrible touchpad and no battery access. I'm returning both and keeping the Toshiba. (B) The ASUS has no opening to replace the battery, so the whole back would have to come off, probably at a computer shop, which is cost and hassle. I usually keep computers for many years, to avoid transferring all my software, cookies and files, and learning a new system, so I outlive the first battery.

    I like it
It works very well and has a good price. I'm very happy with this laptop, I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse for it. It's been a month since I bought it.

    Good performance for the price
Rather than upgrading an existing machine to Window 10 with all of the problems that other people have been experiencing, I simply went with a factory-installed setup. It's been an excellent machine so far.

lasted a week and dont pay with PayPal
great features for the money and i liked the laptop for the time i had it. After a week the USB buss and on board mouse stopped working. I returned it to my local store. I had purchased it on my Paypal account and the store was not able to refund to the account so their only option ( according to them) was to give me a Walmart gift card. I could have bought another one but they were out of stock so now I have 500+ gift card to spend at Walmart.

    Great little computer
Bought a Dell with great specs which should have been an excellent computer but straight out of the box it began having issues with the WIFI, CD Drive, etc. Called technical support and took FOREVER to get responses. Needless to say, I returned it and bought this computer. This is my third ASUS and I have loved them all! Easy setup and everything works like a charm! In-store pickup was quick and painless.

    Great Laptop
After researching for months, I ran across this laptop and ordered it. It ran fine with the installed 6 GB of RAM. There is a slight delay if you are running multiple applications. I upgraded the 2 GB to 8 GB for around $40.00 from Crucial. Now it runs very fast with multiple application running with no lag when opening. I am extremely impatient and expect application to open immediately. If you run multiple applications and are impatient, the upgrade is well worth it. The keyboard is slightly flimsy. It has a little give to it, but not bad. The machine is light, but feels better than expected for the price. You can't beat the Intel i7 for the price. It runs smoothly with no delays. The graphics are not top notch, but screen is very clear. Unless you are using it for heavy gaming, the graphics are very good. I have not used it for gaming, so I can't say how it would perform. I currently have a customized HP Envy with similar specs. The HP has 16 GB RAM and a better graphics card, but cost five times as much. For the price of the ASUS, I would pick it over the HP. I was so happy with the laptop, I immediately went online to purchase another. They are currently out of stock.

    Super Happy
I had gotten this for my middle school son who is homeschooled and does all his schooling on the computer. I didnt want to drop alot of money on a laptop and a desktop just wasnt for us since we do travel alot. The first thing that appealed to me about this was the fact its an i7. The speed of it is fantastic! It of course has the Win 10 as its OS because thats the newest one out. The screen is easy to read-meaning its not small and you can actually see what you are typing. When my son does watch youtube videos on it, the processing of it is really good. There is no lagging of the video. The storage space is really good-its not like he is using a ton of it anyways. It has 3 USB ports, and HDMI port, mic port, cd player and few others. When you first login it, will have you set up a microsoft acct if you dont have one. Set up is super easy as for it does it itself. This is a great cheap laptop that really does what higher priced ones do. I dont recommend it for heavy gamers or heavy youtubers. It works for everyday email, internet play, writing papers and what not. Overall I am really happy with it. I wish Walmart would let us add pics :(

Can't beat it for the price
For the price, this is an amazing laptop. The screen is nice and wide, great for people with “older” vision such as myself. Speakers are crisp and the speed is impressive. If you're not looking to do gaming or anything fancy, I'm basically using it for online college classes, then this is the way to go. I can watch movies on it without losing speed. The design is slim and sleek and it even has a cd drive and best of all, NO TOUCH SCREEN…YEAH!!! I hate touch screen. It also comes with Windows 10 which although I've heard could be buggy, I've had no issues with it and it is sooooooooooo much better than Windows 8. For under $600 with tax, you will not be disappointed.

PLEASE READ! Rated "H" for honest!
This is a good laptop, and I got it to replace to junkie Dell Inspiron 3520 from Wal-Mart that had nothing but "blue screen of death" problems since right after the return policy expired, go figure, and now the hard drive is failing on the Inspiron. I must warn you ahead of time that Windows 10 still has bugs, and I was stuck in the famous "Automatic Repair loop," in which my laptop would say it did not start correctly, then no matter what you did, you would end up not starting up correctly. I fixed this by resetting my laptop (luckily I had just received it that day) and didn't lose anything I could not get back. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND INSTALLING THE WINDOWS UPDATES ASAP, to prevent the loops, as Microsoft has a patch in the updates. GAMING: This is no high-end gaming laptop, but it will run medium-high graphics, depending on your game, that is. I play The Sims 3, Second Life, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, and World of Warcraft fine. Be advised, this is no Alienware, but it is pretty good for a "basic" laptop. PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7 5th Gen. is a definite upgrade from my Intel Core i3 (not sure of the Gen., but I bought my Inspiron Dec. of 2013) in my Inspiron, and is faster. Performs well, which gamers like me need! RAM: 6 GB of RAM is another upgrade from my Inspiron's 4 GB, and I can already see a difference, as things load up relatively fast, and I don't really experience a frozen PC, but a little lag will happen every once in awhile with ANY PC. This laptop can be expanded up to 12 GB of RAM. There is a back panel that goes straight to the RAM, which is awesome, because my Gateway netbook required me to remove the keyboard and stuff just to get to the RAM! SCREEN: 15.6" diagonally, no touch screen, just the way I prefer it, because smaller kids like to poke your screen, instead of pointing at things. I also hate fingerprints on my screen, its an OCD thing of mine. CD/DVD DRIVE: works well, I'm installing my Sims 3 trio pack as I type this. Reads and writes both CDs and DVDS, so if you like making mixed CDs for your car or gifts, or "movies" with things like Movie Maker, you'll be happy. No LightScribe. KEYBOARD: not stiff at key press, which I'm pretty picky about. It also doesn't skip letters or move into the middle of your paragraph or another sentence as you're typing, something my Inspiron did, making me almost wanting to turn it into a Frisbee. TRACKPAD: Mine sticks at the left mouse button, but that could be because my mother threw one of those Fourth of July Pop Snappers at my brand new laptop, possibly getting some gunpowder in my trackpad. -.- I personally prefer a higher sensitivity/speed, but I'm sure there's a setting for it to change to your liking. OS: Windows 10 is a combination of Windows 7 and Windows 8. I personally like Windows 7 the best, as it was the most featured with stability, and have had nothing but problems with Windows 8. Windows 10 offers a ton of apps and personalization options, and seems pretty stable for now, except for my looping issue, although I wish it didn't look like a touch-screen phone (the blocky-styled apps, which doesn't fit a non-touch screen laptop) and more like an actual PC, like Windows 7, but I guess to each his own... BATTERY: please note that the battery is INTERNAL. You cannot just pull the tab over and remove it like you can on every other laptop out there, which to me makes no sense, but I guess ASUS wanted to keep the laptop thin. With that being said, it is not recommended that you try to perform repairs, as the internal battery is a shock hazard. I have not opened up my laptop yet, so I am unsure of if/how the battery removal process is possible.
