This is a great computer. I am using it now to type this review. I have had this computer for 11 days and have not had even the tiniest of issues. Set up was easy. And as far as windows 10 goes, not a problem. This computer has a slim, low-profile, light weight design. It is much faster than my old Toshiba netbook. That netbook is the reason I stayed with Toshiba. I had that netbook for 7 yrs. It was finally time to upgrade. I needed a bigger screen and a much faster computer. I do a lot of typing as I review many products. I also store music and pictures. Lots of pictures. Nothing I have added or done to this computer has slowed it down any. I would say for the average person who surfs the web or shops on the internet or listens to music and does facebook, this computer is a great deal.

Best Laptop for the money
This was my third one if these, I wear them out about every 4 years. I love them. For someone who games and also does social media LOVE these. Buy the extended service plan, it is so worth the money. My 2 prior laptops that were the same, windows 8 had been rebuilt 3 times each for use, and I mean hours daily. This is an amazing laptop..I was so excited when it came up on July 4th for the price it did, I basically felt like it was a steal at $299..Love these Toshiba Satellites.. Love them
I purchased 2 of these laptops for my 14 year old twin nephews. The are moving overseas with the airforce and will be homeschooling. They needed something that they could upload all their videos and music on and still have enough memory to run fast enough for the online part of their schooling. When the laptops arrived, I took them out of the box to get the started and to upload Microsoft Office on them and have them ready for the boys. WOW! I like these laptops better than my more expensive laptop! It is easier to navigate around, the speed is fast and the color definition was great! I am seriously thinking about purchasing another one for me to use and having my current one just be for games!
Excellent for the money
This is an excellent basic laptop. It can do anything the average user could ever need. Office, play music, watch movies. If you are into hardcore gaming or are a power user then this is not the system for you, but you already know that. But if you need a nice, more than capable machine at a very good price, then this is the one for you.
So fair so good. I bought it for my mom and I have not heard any complaints about it. I did have some trouble putting the Norton antivirus on it but I spoke to a person from Norton and he suggested using a different web browser. I did that and it went on with my problem.
Great for the price!
I have become a real fan of Toshiba laptops as of late (this is my second), as they seem to be built more sturdy/hefty than than those of their competitors of the same class. My last couple of laptops of this class were so cheaply built that they literally fell apart (especially ports and plugs, etc.) despite being gentle with them and way before the technology/software outdated them. The only downside with this laptop were my struggles with Windows 10, but that is not a fault of the laptop itself. My copy of this laptop was built in July 2015, which required quite a bit of Windows 10 updating to get done and I had figure out all the default obtrusive and privacy issues before I could really use it and to get a good sense of its performance. Once I got all of that done, I would say it performs quite well considering the hardware specs. By the way, some updates failed because of conflicts with McAfee that came installed. So if you'll want to disable whatever McAfee is doing and find a good speedy connection before your attempting your updates.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
After trying out a Dell and HP 17.3" laptops on sale in the mid- to high $500 range, and encountering more issues than I could believe (I swear the HP was possessed), I spoke with a friend who recommended an inexpensive Toshiba and found this one on sale online (last one). Other than a smaller 15.6" screen, it does everything the more expensive ones do. Be sure you're going to be happy with your purchase, as this vendor charges a restocking fee for returns.
I bought this from somewhere else but felt obligated to correct all the positive reviews. This laptop takes forever to do anything. The especially bad part is that it doesn't have a 5 GHz wireless card. My internet speed was around 0.2 Mbps when I first got it. My roommate was getting around 90. My speed was borderline so slow that it could not load a webpage most of the time. I had to buy an adapter to use the 5GHz network, and now my speed is around 50, which is still not as good. The problem with the adapter, though, is it takes a while to kick in. That means it takes about 1-2 minutes to get online to the first webpage, and then it's average at best after that. My work computer is blazing fast, and I just get sad every time I use this laptop (my personal computer). So many regrets getting this laptop. Most everything else is fine. It has plenty of storage and I like Windows 10. Opening other programs is fine. My primary use requires an internet connection though, and everything is just so slow. Get a laptop with a 5GHz wireless card (which I foolishly thought was all of them, but I guess Toshiba still uses 2.4GHz).
Do Not Buy This Toshiba Product
I recently purchased mine, it's slow and freezes out of the box. Don't even think about adding software. Attempted to contact Toshiba Tech and Customer Support. Transferred to Manila, Phillipines Call Center, had language barrier, laptop was never fixed. Avoid Toshiba products at all cost!
The laptop went through a required update and upon rebooting it went to an all black screen with the error message about picking a different boot drive or inserting boot media and restart. This computer did not come with a CD and once I called Toshiba they discovered that the HDD recovery was not present on the computer (which should be included if it doesn't come with the disc). The computer was only 2 days old when this happened. Toshiba's solution was that I pay an additional $39.95 to purchase a flash drive that would include the recovery media that should have already been on the computer.
