A heavy duty bike for a heavy duty guy!
I had my eye on this bike for a while before I decided to pull the trigger. At the time of purchasing the bike, I weighed in at 370lbs, thanks to this amazing bike, Im at 303lbs and still losing! Since I was so physically heavy and I really didn't know to much about this brand Genesis, I was really nervous about the bike falling apart on me or the rims bending, etc. So I basically just took a chance on it and purchased it and Im honestly really happy I did. This bike is 100% quality. Even the tires are extremely heavy duty. It took about 200 miles before I got my first real flat. The front disc brake is on point and stops really well. The frame is light for its size and the colors are really attractive. Everyone comments on how nice my bike is! The only con for me is that the original seat is horrible for bigger people but I took care of that issue with the infamous Cloud 9 seat. Also the suspension might be too stiff for a lighter person because it barely budge with my at my previous weight of 370lbs. It does work really well for absorbing bumps and minor drop offs though. I honestly love my bike. It already has become sentimental to me. Its affordable! Its very heavy duty and durable! It has the perfect height for a 6ft man! It has front disc brakes! Its very reliable for getting you from point A to B! Its a GENESIS! That name means something to me now!

Broken
For the price I paid rims were bent, gears don't work! I got this for my boyfriends birthday and he has yet rode it. So now we have to wait for parts on top of waiting for it to get to the store... Ugh

    Beware of roots and rocks
this bike is great for commuting around town and maybe some light trails. I've had this bike for two years. It's very sturdy and will last a long time. I do not recommend taking this bike on any rough terrain. I personally took it on a trip with some buddies who ride higher end bikes in the Adirondack mountains. Wow, this bike beat the heck out of me. Every little root and rock was felt. The front shock is very stiff and does not do a good job of absorbing impact. My hands and wrists were in pain. I understand that its a cheap bike so really this is just a warning. honestly, the bike held up great. its just not very comfortable on rough trails.

    Excellent bike for the price.
I "upgraded" from a very cheap metal frame bike to this aluminum frame bike 2 years ago. I have really worked it hard. I ride desert mountain trails with a lot of rocks and it has really responded. I have put at least 1600 miles on very rough terrain over the last 2 years and I have already fallen a few times and it has not broken. I have replaced 2 sets of tires the shifter twice and the front brakes once and I am very pleased with it. I finally broke one of the two shock absorbers on the front so I am looking for my receipt as I purchased the extended warranty. I have fixed and replaced the other stuff myself but I can't find the sock. I do recommend it for the price. A bit heavier than the very expensive bikes but for the price you cannot go wrong.

    could be better
Bought it for my bf and it is not so good when changing speeds. I wonder if it needs more adjustments. Good looking bike for taller people.

    Awesome bike
Got this bike on clearance, went shopping for a bike for my wife, while she was trying it out I noticed this one. So I tried it out and thought what a great fit and I loved the options. After finding out it was on sale for $60 I was sold. Had been a great bike so far.

    29" GENESIS
THE BIKE WORKED VERY GOOD BUT HAD TO DO SOME ADJUSTMENTS ON THE FRONT WHEEL TO GET IT ALINE WITH THE BRAKE DISK. THE ONLY ISUE WAS THE DECALS THAT WERE PUT ON THE BIKE WERE NOT ALIGNED. I WILL PROBABLY TAKE THEM OFF WITH A HEAT GUN. OTHERWISE THE BIKE IS VERY USER FRIENDLY AND THE SHIFTER WORKS GREAT.

Excellent Value Not for Short Inseam Guys
This bike I purchased today was assembled and on display. Good value and good looks. The amenities like front suspension with disc brake, paddle shifters for the 21 gears with indicators. The price paid was under $150. Comparably equipped bikes are more in the range of $200. plus. The one piece of advice that I can offer is...try the bike on for size at the store before purchasing. Should you have an inseam length 0f 29 inches or less this bike will be too big for us short guys. This bike has a frame size of 19 inches, that along with the 29" tires puts the top of the crossbar right where you don't want it to be...right in the yoke of the tree. Lucky for me the manager of the store said when purchasing that, I could bring it back and exchange it for a 27.5 or 26 inch peddler...........ego set aside I will hopefully find another Genesis model that doesn't rub me the wrong way. In closing if the 29" bikes fit you then this model is worth the shot for an entry level, gravel runner that is equipped way better than the price dictates.

    Geared to Tall
I got the Max Air exclusively to ride single track trails in western Colo. I hadn't ridden any bicycle in over 20-years and I couldn't see myself spending thousands of dollars like the avid riders. Since the local area had 100's of Mtn bike trails it seemed a natural. Excellent features for the price and seemed perfect while I was test riding on the flat. The index shifters were precise, braked well, nice knobby tires, a 19" frame that fit my 6-ft body. Took it for a spin on an easy 4-mile single track and the slight grades wasted me. Simply didn't have a low enough gear to spin up the hills. The handling and brakes were excellent especially considering the trail was mostly snow covered. I ended up walking the bike uphill numerous times. I looked into changing the gears but lack of proper tools and the cost of all the parts would double my outlay. So the Max Air is a mountain bike in name only.

    Great bike for the money!
So far so good! I had my first ride, aboutv12 miles and it handled great. Very sturdy, with good tires and the brakes were very responsive. The front shocks made the bumbs almost nonexistent.
